Well.. welcome to star citizen. Im sure others have pointed it out but when you get in the seat hold R to get her warmed up. You can rebind hailing the control tower to open the doors, its under cockpit systems in the menu I believe (i bind mine to the end key). Also if you're experiencing framedrops, star citizen is notorious right now for throttling the hell out of your CPU, its unintuitive but if you go and crank all the base settings to max it actually forces your GPU to take over more and generally will result in much less stuttering. Also making sure you have the game installed on an SSD can help alot. Star Citizen is one of the single most ambitious titles in the history of the industry. I've been playing it for going on 8 years now, on and off but the last few months much more as more systems have come online. Even as limited as the game is right now there is still more to do and see than most AAA games will ever have. The stanton system has hundreds of hours worth of content for all types of gameplay. From pvp, to pirating to mining and salvaging to simple exploration or being a space delivery boy.. its all there and when the servers are in a good state its all great. I really recommend starting off by doing at least a dozen or so delivery missions as it forces you to interact with all the major systems in place for landing, refueling, looting etc. Then from there figuring out just what it is you wanna do and start getting involved in those game loops. This game has gotten better and better as time has gone on and here in the last year or so they've really picked up steam with content and general features making its way in. Second star system should be out sometime in the next 6 months or so and with it a massive increase to content and economy. Star Citizen is a marathon though, not a sprint. Take your time, enjoy the sights and sounds and all the little details they put in and we will see you out in the black o7.
Wow! Thanks man, that info will help me out a lot. I’m going to double check that my external hard drive is a solid state drive. I’ll try out the graphics tips you said too! I love the aspect of enjoying the little things. Totally my style of gaming!

Good attitude! So much hate out there about SC. Goes to show diff strokes for diff folks. Been playing since we could about 2014 and still having a blast.
Its been months since you uploaded this so you've almost certainly figured it out, but ill leave this comment in case anyone who comes across this video needs to know: Star citizen pretty much requires an SSD and 16GB of RAM. Faster SSD is better, 32GB of RAM is the best to get rid of any remaining stutter. The game is incredibly CPU bound, so cranking the settings to High actually helps frames by offloading more of the work to the GPU. Keep clouds on medium, though. Setting your shader cache size to something like 10GB as well can help reduce the extra stuttering that you get when you first load in. The longer you play the game, the smoother it gets as your computer loads all the shaders it needs.
Hey man thank you. I know it’s been months I gotta get back at at it! I’m so busy :/ but I didn’t know setting the shader cache could help! I knew about deleting the cache but I’ll try limiting it now. Thank you :)
Oh man! Thats so awesome watching you react to everything! Keep up the good work! Also the avenger does have a quantum drive, it definitely helps getting from atmosphere to station quickly. Can't wait for your next vid! :)
I suggest getting GameGlass and installing it on your phone or a tablet. It allows you to put your controls such as calling ATC (Air Traffic Control) to get permission to land/take off, as well as gears up etc onto a touchscreen surface. It really adds to the sense of immersion, oh and welcome to the verse 😊
God this feels just how i felt when i started, now i do nothing but complain when it doesnt work. Its a shame you missed inviticus, u missed a lot of cool ships, id love to get ur reation to the size of them if that was your reaction to the hanger door alone 😂 Keep uploading, i wanna see ur journey through the verse
Welcome to the verse! Hope you enjoy it, even through the frustrating times. 9:15 It's a good thing you didn't have a mask on. You were still within the atmosphere. If you had gotten out gravity would have pulled you straight down to the planet.
I think this game was made for, and by, a certain generation of gamers. When I was a kid and PC games just started being a thing, there was a spaceship game (and a lying salesman) who sold me on this dream of a 3D spaceship I could fly around space and land anywhere. The game didn't even have textures yet, it was just made up of white meshes on a black background, and I never ended up buying it, but somehow that fantasy lived on within me to this day. I often wonder how confused some other gamers might get when we gush over the Star Citizen experience. To them it's probably "whatever".
Welcome citizen! You can turn off volumetric clouds and that helps quite a bit with frames. There are a lot of guides out there on how to tweak graphics and game settings for best performance. Like I say to my friends that play- SC is the best game ever when it is, and the worst game ever when it is. The deal is that when it’s the best it’s really really good. Good luck citizen!
Ive been into star citizen for 2 years now and still this game amazes me ! Welcome to the verse. To get better frames you need to have this game installed on a SSD. For performance you need a good processor-> 32 gigs of ram -> a graphics card 2000 series or newer nvidia card. ( not sure about the amd equivalent) probably like a 5700xt or newer. It gets better with sticks for flight as well. Can’t wait to see your first few weeks if you decide to get the game.
A few good pointers. Always remember to check if your helmet is on. Don't get mad at bugs, from a game that is still in development. Frustrated is fair... Prepare and brace yourself every patch. Things will change as they continue to add mechanics and content to the game. Always claim any ships you do not have readily available. That way when you log back on, they will be ready to go. Same with landing and storing the ships. NPC/ AI tracking and placement is also wonky. They are working on it. That's all I have for now. Welcome to the Verse. And if you ever want to enjoy some ships. I have a decent hangar full.
When you do pledge for your game package, I recommend the Avenger Titan. Also do it when there is a sale because you can get a discount plus 10 years insurance on your ship. There is currently a sale with 10% off a game package with the Avenger Titan plus 120 month insurance. It is likely to only be available for the next 20 hours or so. Normally the next sale is around November during the anniversary sale.
I'd personally suggest fury's for the lifetime insurance and then melt it down on the website to upgrade to another ship with better mobility. Still need the core game so the avenger is great. Personally I went with the arrow package as it's an amazing bird as I planned on buying a mercury at some point, which I just upgraded to from the Expanse concept that had LTI that transfered to the Mercury Star runner. If you're not stressed for money and know you want to get into SC for the long term, I would suggest you do a little research on how the warbobd thing works and how you can upgrade so you can have lifetime insurance for a few ships once you can work up to them. The cheaper ships like the fury, or that concept tank that just dropped that can be gotten for around 50 bucks or so are commonly referred to as LTI Tokens as they are often bought explicitly to apply to a ship that comes up for sale but without life time insurance. Ships tend to have a mild surcharge when not a warbond(basically refers to "new money" being a requirement) and as such are a percentage more expensive, but as LTI is usually limited to concepts or a newly released craft, it's well worth the relatively minor increase in cost when you convert a prior investment in the game into a new more advanced craft with LTI. I could be mincing some words here mind you, but I think you can get the gist... Either way, glad you are enjoying that new car smell. 😎
Yo thats crazy! I was in the exact same server as you at that time! Welcome to SC! If you ever need a tutor or crewman theres plenty of help available! Enjoy the fun memories! And get to know people!
As a fellow new Player, enjoy!! This game is Mindblowing and there is always something new to do or try! Plus with player created sandbox moments something wild can always happen good or bad. The bugs are fun to work around or they are so terribly funny you can help but belly laugh!
one thing that is incredible about Star Citizen is that when server meshing is finally finished, your ship will literally be its own server. You'll walk from the city server, into your hangar server onto your ship server, fly off the planet server into the space server. All without loading screens. It's amazing and hard to grasp when you think about it.
Keep an eye on your food/water levels. It is flashing red on the bottom left of the screen. Your B button spools up the Quantum drive. Lock on to a location and tap b again to jump..
I realized that when I got to the satellite and I was down to 3% water level! I was panicking and i finally found the soda at the hotdog stand haha! 🌭🤩 thanks man!

Love watching new players experience the game for the first time! Also good call on not getting out of the ship, you were still in the planet's gravity well and would have fallen to your death lol
Love to see new players excitement and the gaps in knowledge that will fill over time. I can only advise you to keep up with the game, even if it can be frustrating at point. You will find a lot of functiona to help you reach youtlr goels much faster by asking people or investing some time into research. If you really want to get into the game also think about some hardware upgrades befor spending anything on ships. Get a decent pc, then joysticks and then you can think about bigger ships.
When I first started this game, I was skeptical and didn't have much experience with 'what is star citizen', but since I was a huge fan of the game 'freelancer' back in the day when I was an university student, and I've played a lot of X3, X4 and elite dangerous, star citizen was like the only one left for me to try out. I was not aware of in-game events and CCU and insurance time and all that, so I bought my MR pack for 45 bucks with only 6 month of insurance. I thought I won't spend a dollar after that, after all, you can earn most things with in-game money. But later on I upgrade that MR to a cutter, after that was upgrade to cutlass black, then freelancer max, now I'm sitting on a Taurus with 10 years insurance. I hate this game by its endless bugs, like the Tana's bedlog bug, like the inventory bug, but mostly, the 30Ks, ohh man I so hate 30Ks. I quited the game 3 times all because of 30K causing me lose big cargo. But I will keep playing it, because there might not ever be another game like this one, the ultimate space second life sandbox.
The two most important things to run SC is a high speed core cpu and a nvme ssd. You won't need 12 cores to enhance the game just 4 very fast cores. You got it right though in it's current state it's very cpu intensive. I get about 65frames on each planet but orison. There I get 50 if lucky. And in space I get about 160fps. Running an 11900k oc and a base model 3080. 32 gigs of ram and a gen4 nvme ssd. Definitely want nvme I had the game installed on my sata ssd and there was a huge difference when installing on nvme
You should have 32 GB of memory, and the game needs to be run on an SSD. These are starting requirements. The CPU does have an impact but not as much as what I mentioned. Also, it can help to increase the shader cache to 10GB in the nvidia control panel (if you are using nvidia). Also, you need to pay attention to the icons in the lower left of your HUD. You are getting thirsty, and you will get incapacitated if you don't get something to drink.
Thank you, I just finished reinstalling the game onto my SSD and I also installed 32g of ram. I’ll try the nvidia tip as well. I ended up getting a soda with about 2% hydration left haha I thought I was dead. Much appreciated :)
Definitely turn off clouds or leave them on medium. Make sure you have 32gb of ram, 16gb is fine but 32gb is a much better experience. If you have an AMD system and are willing to buy a new processor look at the X3D processor.
@@DIGITALSANDBOX I've been playing since 2020. This was the only game I've actually upgraded my computer for. I first tried the game out on a HDD and man that was terrible. I've just recently upgraded my computer to a 7800X3D and a 7900XTX and man the game is so much smoother.
Not sure, but it looks like you are not running the game on an SSD. You can pick up a cheap SSD for the game and if you have 32Gb of ram that game can play on relatively inexpensive equipment (for some time I ran on a 10 year old CPU with DDR3 ram and a GTX970). There are also a few optimisation tips out there but if I have one word of advice it would be F12 brings up chat when you need it - ask other players for help and it will be provided.
It’s a quad core I7-7700. After more research and seeing how much i9s cost I decided to try upgrading my ram from 16 up to 32gigs. The 32 gigs showed up this morning!
@@DIGITALSANDBOX The RAM upgrade is going to be your biggest performance boost, along with making sure the game's installed on an SSD. An NVMe drive preferably. 32gb RAM is about where you want to be. 64gb if you want to overkill a bit. With some general performance tuning you should get the game to run pretty good with your i7-7700 and 32gb RAM. GPU's not such a huge issue right now since the game at present doesn't know how to unload onto your GPU, that's coming with the new renderer soon(tm). There are quite a few performance tuning guides for mid-range rigs. But remember that even high-end monsters struggle with the game in places. Especially with volumetric clouds and the likes. My i9-11900k/64gb RAM/RTX3080 rig still chokes in places..
@@DIGITALSANDBOX installed on an SSD? Yeah you're not gonna get a great CPU upgrade without a new mobo... quite the investment! RAM can help the choppiness a bit.
@@DIGITALSANDBOX I'm running an i7 7700k as well, paired with a 3070 RTX and 32GB of RAM on an M2 drive. I average between 30 - 40fps in the cities and 60 - 70fps in space/moons.
Welcome to the verse mate!!! B to spool quantum. the mobiglass (open with f1) also contains a crap map (but it works). If you get a mission you can use t to target enemies and other objects.

Hope you bought the game. Free Week is the absolute worst time to try the game, ironically.
Also, make sure its installed to your SSD and turn off film grain and motion blur. helps performance.
What's your current processor?
Honestly. Don’t blame your pc. Star Citizen optimization is around the corner.
You are a kid lost at the airport thats exactly what this is.
And you're about to die of dehydration.
Welcome to the verse mate!!! B to spool quantum. the mobiglass (open with f1) also contains a crap map (but it works). If you get a mission you can use t to target enemies and other objects.
So, there is a tutorial since the last version
I completed most of it and then I started the game up and the option to do tutorial was gone. I don’t mind an organic learning curve though.
@@DIGITALSANDBOX ...plus obviously it is much more enjoyable for the rest of us if you dont use a tutorial. But some of the things really are not intuitive, or at least when playing the first time...anway, looking forward to where that all takes you..Cheers
Welcome to the verse!
