Hi! I'm asking because I've always had trouble differentiating between Funk and Disco as genres! Could you please explain to me like I'm 5 what the difference is? Like, why is "Play that Funky Music" disco and not funk when it says it in the name? Genuinely asking because I'd love to be more knowledgeable on the subject!
@@KanameAkiyama disco is pop funk, it doesn't actually exist because of the groove or funk. It existed to make money. And so people would have a place to do cocaine and hook up with other shallow people. Disco sucks

One of my favorite funky guitar riffs is by a band that is not normally associated with funk, but punk. Paramore really started experimenting after Brand New Eyes and I adore the main riff on "Rose-Colored Boy". It is really funky and the song almost feels disco-esque, really strange for the band known for emo anthems like "Misery Business" and "Decode". They have aged like a fine wine! Also, shout out to "Kill the DJ" by Green Day, "Panic Station" by Muse (It's a bass riff, but whatever) and "In the Shadows" by The Rasmus, 3 more songs by bands not associated with funk that are super funky!
