+Alex Hayes flight of the bumble bee doesn't sound that good though. this song sounds awesome and is actually enjoyable to listen to. the only reason people like flight of the bumblebee is because of how hard it seems, not how good it sounds.
Tiny Rick Opinions. I really enjoy how Flight of the Bumblebee sounds. Just because Etude Op 10 No 2 sounds better than Flight sounds doesn't mean that Flight is terrible.
Alex Hayes im saying that most people enjoy flight of the bumble bee because it seems impressive. I dont imagine that a lot of people have that song on their ipod. of course every one has their own opinion.
I love that he doesn't treat it like a race, but takes time to bring out dynamic contrasts, expression and give it real colour and feeling. RIP maestro.
It's a very technically difficult song with twisted depression. But it doesn't matter to Pollini at all. It's the best performance he's ever played with his incredible technique, his perfect musicality.
its actually easy compared to the other ones... don't know what ur thinking whats hard on the etude list is the wrong note winter wind etc. revolutionary is surprising easy as well
@@SCRIABINIST Wrong note is not as hard as this one if you take tempo into account. But winter wind is really hard as well, the thirds and sixths as well..
@@SCRIABINIST Wrong Note is considered easy compared to other etudes (not saying its easy), Winter Wind is far harder than Wrong Note and don't forget op 10 no 1 as well. Op 25 no 6 is extremely hard but people with very good thirds technique will think it's easy.
For its overall tempo and faithfulness to a staccato left hand throughout, this is perhaps the best rendition of this piece I have heard. Ashkenazy's is a VERY close second in my opinion.
J agree zbout studies Aschkenazy recording 1958 ; the Top Aschkhenaz 1956-1980 after 1980 it's commercial piano too many recordings, before his era orchestra .
pollini play this etude in a wonderful touch and in a careful rhythm ; if this etude played faster than that or slower it will not be nice in my opinion.
I totally disagree, but I have a feeling there might be some anatomical/technical differences between us for us to come to different conclusions. Everyone has different weak points in their playing after all, and these etudes are good at bringing those unique skill-sets to light. I struggled far more with op. 25 no. 9 than op. 25 no. 11, for example, even though the (probably accurate) consensus is that no. 11 is generally far more difficult. All I can say is that, in my and my friends' experience, the triple thirds etude is the most troublesome, although I've yet to learn Op 10 no 5, 8, and 11 or Op 25 no 10 and 12, so I can't comment on their difficulty.
Of course - I mean, I find Op. 10 No. 4 or even No. 5 way more annoying than say Op. 25 No. 11 lol Btw, I didn't know how to play Op. 25 No. 9 correctly until I played this one - using more than pinky on octaves helps tremendously lolol
See, my problems with it stemmed from the strain of the fast octaves in full forte, not the difficulty in hitting them accurately (which isn't too hard in itself). So for me, this etude did very little to prepare me for it. But hey, to each his own. Is black keys really that tough? It doesn't look so bad in the score. I actually _can't_ play op 10 no 11. I just can't do it. Is no 5 comparable to _that_ in difficulty? It's weird, I actually find op. 10 no 4 to be one of the easier etudes. It's way easier than Winter Wind and I don't think I'm alone in that assessment.
The most appropriate Tempo I've heard of this piece, there are other versions here on your Tube of this piece, played much too Fast, that they destroy all the Dynamics and the Intelligibility of the Harmonies , this version by maestro Pollini makes this Etude sings and it's a pleasure for us to hear clearly all the Notes.......
@Mathews196 the indicated speed is 144/min per 1/4 note, so the 16ths are being played at 576 per minute or 9.6 per second, so each note takes 0.104 seconds, about the blink of an eye. I think that's the fastest MM indication I've ever seen. I haven't timed 2set's "world's fastest fiddler", but I doubt he can get anywhere close to 300.
Straordinario! Ci sono in rete anche esecuzioni più fluide e veloci, ma la chiarezza di Pollini (soprattutto nei bicordi della mano destra, a cui molti rinunciano) è ineguagliabile.
One of the most useful etudes, but man you people crack me up. If this version was played by any other pianist besides Pollini like this you would all be flaming them for not playing it in the written tempo.
Pollini's recording of the Chopin Etudes are edited so many times, till it gets perfect. That's why these are the best ones of any artist in my opinion.
I saw Pollini playing live 12 times in my life and I can assure you that his performances on stage are just as perfect as his studio recordings. What you call editing is almost irrelevant in Pollini's case. He recorded most of these studies in one session only. This information has been reported in the book, "Maurizio Pollini. Ritratto di un artista," by the musicologist Ennio Restagno.
In general I find Pollini to play stuff faster than I think he should... or maybe that's just because I have Perahia's recording and he plays at a slower tempo
This as said and really easy fast prelude 14(27 second) (played prelude in 1-2 days) really opened my hands fingers :can even make hard etyd op25 nr6 become easy
@@NoOne-hx9ir I absolutely love Etude 10 n 3, which is overall pretty simple but in the middle it gets really hard so... anyways an easy etude from Chopin doesn't really exist haha. But if you want to develop technique, op 10 n 2 for right hand, and op 10 n 4 for both hands, but if you're a beginner this is not the best idea ^^

This etude reminds me of a mouse running in a big house
The mouse is ill and looking for a Hickory Dickory Doc?

I really don’t think it is THAT difficult. I have fun when I work on this!!!
This etude reminds me of a clock hand's journey from 12 back to 12.
Thank you very much for this interpretation of Pollini. I love the end
In the end even this one(an exercise before op25 nr6) is music not just practice. Chopin music wasn't just an act of will but HARMONY

Perfect diminuendo for the ending descending scale.
I found this surprisingly simple to play... years of wrong fingering has finally paid off!
What????????
+Jerry Y Probably he misses all the legato. Which is the pure hell in this etude.
+Jerry Y ..This Chopin piece is simple to play if you play it so slow that a measure takes twenty or thirty seconds..lol
???
And how exactly do you ignore the fingering, since fingers 1 and 2 have to play every quarter beat? I guess you just cheat?
Considered the hardest étude along with op 10 1
But...op 25 no 6 happened.
Op 25 no 6 is more complicated, but physically I find this one way more painful and difficult to maintain it at a playable level.
