- Maxson Goh Films a tribute to the unique batch of 200 Volvo B9TL ComfortDelGro Engineering (CDGE) tri-axle double decker buses that are exclusive to Singapore. Thank you for 41,000 Subscribers :)
These wheelchair accesible buses had their interiors refurbished and exteriors repainted around 2018 and 2019, with a significant number taken off the roads and scrapped in 2021. Presently in January 2022, even more buses were deregistered, leaving only 20 of the initial 200 buses remaining in revenue service, with 2 more (SBS7383A and SBS7385U) being used for driver training purposes at SBS Transit's Hougang Depot.

One of the first Wheelchair Accessible Buses was first introduced back in 2006. Years have passed by and today I'm gonna catch one of them before it vanished...... Volvo CDGE, legend. Awesome bro! Way to go!

Congrats on 41k! I’m sure that all the cdge are sadly being retired no early than 2023, I luckily recorded half of the chimes as a memory to the cdge. Ride that bus quite rarely

Times have changed. We used to see these in BL, Tampines and AMK. Now is just A95 B5, B3 and B9TL wright. Those in sg catch them while you can.

when this bus went in service, we all thought “eeyer B9TL again” or “haiyah just a bus la” but never knew a day would come when we will truly miss them.
you should do a tribute for the Euro IV K230UBs. i really like those, especially the batch 1s. 8034B got refurbished very recently and it seems to be the first one to be de registered. such a waste of money. hopefully the refurbished ones can get a slightly longer life.

In 2006, those B9TL CDGEs were introduced in Singapore as the first wheelchair-accesible double-decker buses. It is also built with a local bodywork designed by ComfortDelgro Engineering, which makes it even more unique! The seats and the A/C were comfortable, another awesome point. 😁
However, all that has passed had passed. Now these CDGEs are retired, went under the jaws of death and rotting away like a pile of junk. 😢
It is also kinda odd to see a recently refurbished bus scrapped just like that. A literal waste of money and resources.

Wow, remember when these buses were the first fully WAB bus in SG and debuted in 2006 on svc 21. Seems like yesterday. And also the pride of SBS as it's bodywork was fully designed and assembled locally and went into mass production.
Great bus, only bug bear is it's indicator light ticking can be quite loud inside.

R.I.P to Volvo B9TL CDGE you have served us well. You will be missed.😥😥😥Why must LTA scrap Volvo B9TL CDGE and Scania K230UB Euro 4 even if these buses were so good? I heard is because of Euros where LTA don't want more buses to get polluted nowadays. That's why UK is better than SG in terms of old buses.

Arguably the last of the so called classic generation of buses (90s - early 00s) left running on the roads today. Used to hate taking them especially in the late 2000s and early 2010s bcoz the rattling & vibration at idle was ridiculously bad, literally shaking the bodywork and interior paneling apart. The turn indicator beeps are also way too loud and still is to this day. On the other hand, the AC is powerful, pickup acceleration is brisk and solid plus the aforementioned vibration issues seem to have been resolved as I've not taken a single CDGE that rattles since the introduction of GoAhead and TowerTransit.
For me personally the last "classic" bus was the O405G hispano habit
Usually ride these buses whenever bus svc they deployed, wish their lifespan to extend but I guess there to much buses in storage around the depot, thank you Cdge for the memories riding with you for 2 years on different svcs
Yeah I wish they would be extended too, but oh well. Maybe we have too many new buses in storage.

LTA Decided to Scrapped majority of the Volvo B9TL CDGE Euro 3 Double Deck Buses because they don't want majority of the MAN A95. Euro 6 (Batch 2) Double Deck Buses to rott inside the LTA Storage...
I will definitely miss these buses. It's only a matter of time before my generation of buses retire and go for scrap

There goes one of my favourite childhood bus until now, I always love riding this bus especially everyday after sch me and my friends will go to the back seats. I remembered the cdge was one of the most common sight on 88 but now is not anymore. Also how long is a standard bus lifetime before being scrap and another question is do u think lta will scrap the citrao? Cuz citrao make up for a majority of buses used by all 4 operators?
Good question. I'm not sure if the b9tl or citaro is more common to be honest .. not sure about the scrapping of citaros too
I guess is now uncommon already in 2023 is now rare in 2024 is even more rare and 2029 the end of volvo B9TL
What about volvo B9TL 3 door is use lush green livery with new wheels,new motor with futuristic motor,new doors closing alarm from man bus new interior new light,extra staircase with glowing lights just like man bus,more seats for old people and pregnant women,new seats, a glass near at the staircase just like Alexander dentist bus and a wheelchair park

Hi Maxson, can u film sbs7484s as this is the only cdge I remember riding.
These buses were literally my childhood. These were the buses that contained many bittersweet moments. I thought that with the full scale refurbishment, they will be able to operate till 18 years max.
The final scene... I really hate to see that but what can we do? 😥
I'm sure many of us also felt the same way about the refurbishment program, indeed it gave a lot of people false hope... :(

And now 18 left of the original 200. Go to Service14,25,48 and 196 as only 4 of these routes have them. At this point I saw 14 CDGE outside :))))
1. There are 22 left in service but two r used for training at HGDEP and SLBP respectively
2. 25 and 48 do not have CDGEs although I have rode one on 48 when the 22 were around
3. The services which have CDGEs are 14,46,225W,64,101,72,196,179,193

Tbh i absolutely love CDGEs but the only problem is the seat the last time the CDGEs had green and yellow seats and when my nails accidentally scratch it it makes a weird sound that sends shivers now my spine so yeah it makes me uncomfortable

The End of these buses have arrived...I honestly cant believe they are gone now. Even weirder to think that the Euro IV Scania K230UB buses are now the oldest public buses in singapore. To think they were once the newest buses in singapore replacing the Volvo B10M M1 & 2 as well as the older scania buses and eventually the cross border buses to now where they are gone from cross border and the Euro IV wont even have much time left either with them due for retirement next year. From newest buses back then to now the oldest buses...cant believe time pass by so fast...soon they like the CDGES will be gone forever in the history books. The Euro III B9TL CDGES certainly have made their mark as the First WAB public bus model, last Euro III buses. I guess its farewell to them😢. I should rlly try to take the scania k230ub euro iv as much as i can now....
