The Bourne Legacy, while not really considered part of the series by some fans, give more backstory for the series as well as more info on the headaches and the pills mentioned in the first movie.
There are several references to the first movie here. The passport Bourne used was shown in the first movie, and he quotes Clive Owen's character at the end, as well as being shot and jumping into the water.
Don’t miss Bourne Legacy, although Matt Damon isn’t in it, Jeremy Renner was good but more importantly, it will give you more clues to Bourne’s story . You’ll find more pieces to the Bourne identity puzzle.
Jason Bourne was one of the first characters in spy literature to use the idea of a supersoldier using enhancements of different types, phycological drugs to increase reflexes etc
Probably one of the first characters in mainstream literature, but the book came out in the 70s, and those ideas aren't very new. There's subplots in several James Bond films and novels, and James Bond was created in the 1950s. Captain America is actually a superhero who was enhanced to a great degree and he came out in the 1940's, and he actually did operate as a spy when necesarry in some of those old comics.

Of course the action sequences and plot are really fantastic, but I think the movies are also so great because of the emotional content wrapped up in Bourne’s character (as well as the other agents, as we see with Clive Owen in the first movie and the assassin that ultimately refuses to shoot Bourne at the end of this movie). And because it is so well scripted and acted you really feel it. Without this emotional content the movies wouldn’t work anything like as well as they do.

Can't tell what's happening in the fighting sequences when half the screen is a blur. Could you imagine John Wick with shaky cams?
The original Bourne triliogy in my opinion is the best action thriller assassin movie series ever. No disrespect to John Wick, the Equalizer, James Bond and others, but Bourne is the best.
Addie, I'm excited for you! Yes, you are going deep into the Bourne Rabbit Hole! Hey, don't forget to watch "The Bourne Legacy", with Jeremy Renner. It's a Bourne Universe film, basically a different part of the same Black Ops program as Jason Bourne but in a different location -- running parallel with Bourne -- and with a different agent, Jeremy's character. It's got Rachel Weiss in it (I love her!), Oscal Isaacs, and Ed Norton. It's a great part of the expanded Bourne Universe that I am sure you will love!
What makes movies great is when we get involved with the characters and their lives. I went into #1 with doubts about Matt Damon playing the role, but they were resolved in the 1st fight scene. Matt obviously worked his butt off, not only getting in great shape but training as well for the weapons handling and the close quarters combat. Another great reaction Addie, Stay safe and well.
in the 2016 movie you get the rest of his past memories so it's definitely worth watching Jason Bourne, it also has Tommy Lee Jones in it, great actor!
Nikki's smile was priceless. And it brought the story full circle. The beginning of the the first film was Bourne floating unconscious, and the end of part 3 shows him regaining consciousness, and swimming away.

My take on Jason's attitude towards the training. Remember that it was experimental, and Jason was the first. He had, indeed, volunteered, but the untested methods were 'off,' and Jason started to resist. They doubled down and pushed him through it. By the end, he became what they wanted, but imperfectly.
Yes it is the best one! Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did 🙌 Bourne's wizardary stepped up another notch.... Jason Bourne (movie number 5) is still worth watching even if it isnt quite as good
One of the few action/thriller films where the hero actually chose to go down the dark path. If it wasn’t for his amnesia would he have chosen to become good? I don’t know but all I know is these first three Bourne films are amongst the best action thrillers ever! Just a matter of where you rank them.
I love the way you watch movies. You're so enthusiastic and animated. I believe these get progressively better. They're all great but like you said the story unfolds slowly and in the right manner in my opinion.
Well, the The Bourne Legacy is a pretty good movie that has more world-building but very little Bourne, and Jason Bourne has Bourne, and I imagine a pretty big stunt budget, but not much else - including a compelling story - so it's not very good. If you continue on, I'd recommend watching Jason Bourne first because after that you may need a mental palate cleanser.

Superb. I think I still just slightly prefer 2 to 3, but this has probably my favourite sequence (waterloo station), and a perfect 'full circle' ending: "Look what they make you give" + getting shot and falling into the water, how it all started
Thanks for sharing your reaction to ,"The Bourne Ultimatum." I binged what was a trilogy about a decade ago - and like you, got drawn in from the beginning and invested in the character. Finding the first two movies free on RUclips today, I launched back in. The only thing I remembered was the closing theme music and the doctor, played by Peter Finch, saying, "You came to us!" However, the third movie wasn't offered free. So, I saw your offering and truncated as the movie was, you showed enough for me to feel satisfied. And your commentary was exciting. Thank you!
The books are way different than the movies. Don't get me wrong, I love the movies, they just updated them for the modern day. The books take place just after the Vietnam War. David Webb was living in Vietnam and wife and kids were strafed by a North Vietnamese jet as they played in the river. This lead him to wanting revenge and joining the CIA to get it
I'm hoping for at least one more Bourne movie. But what would be amazing would be if Bourne's character met and worked with Renner's character --- that would be dope!
The Jeremy Renner Bourne movie is underrated especially if you like Renner. The final installment of the Damon movies is "Jason Bourne" and it's legitimately good.
Thanks Addie. I made it to number three with you. I love the third movie the best. Yes EPIC. And Pam Landy turns out to be on Jason's side 100%. Great reaction
17:00 Addie "I did not know that was possible..." Me: "I'm still not sure it is in real life." 🤣 28:55 that smile is one of my favourite parts of the entire Bourne series. This was "the end" for years. So "we" didn't know if Bourne would survive until the "smile" and the moving in the water. Heck we didn't know they would show him swimming off or if they'd leave it open. Another Adorable Addie Adventure, keep them coming Addie.
"Ronin" (1998) "The Peacemaker" (1997) "Nobody" (2021) "The November Man" (2014) "R.E.D." I highly recommend "The Bourne Legacy" Good movie, fills in some gaps. It has bad reviews because people went into it expecting Jason Bourne and the movie does not follow his story, it follows another program participant (Jeremy Renner) and takes place in the same universe. Worth a watch.
Fun fact. Some of the puplic and very crowded scenes like the trainstation "Tie your shoo" were mostly NOT actors hired for this film. Just everyday people passing by. Watch behind the scenes on how they recorded everything if interested. Interesting stuff.
Hey Addie, definitely watch The Bourne Legacy with Jeremy Renner, and Jason Bourne the fourth movie with Matt Damon back in role, there's even more of his past uncovered. And yes, Jason (David) and Nicky were a couple before he entered "the programme".
They wisely gave us bits and bits just like Jason was getting bits about his past. They took us ang with him and it's acted so well that you can't help but get invested. You should also check out Matt in The Investment Bureau with Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow) -- I think it's right up your alley.
Now it is time for The Bourne Legacy, it will give you the backstory you're looking for, NO Matt Damon, but insane action, a love story and a how to guide if you ever find yourself on the run. It's the one I've watched over and over. Even if you don't review it, it's worth the watch and you wouldn't have to wait, watch, react, edit, post or monitor analytics. You could just enjoy it.
Heckuva lot of fun watching these reactions but it's _very_ much diminishing returns from here IMO. A nigh perfect ending (for me). Nicky's knowing smile, "Look at what they make you give", recreating the opening shot of 'The Bourne Identity' with a "body" in the water (but _now_ he emerges as David Webb) etc. Just really beautifully brought full circle as a complete narrative. Didn't need any more. (the way I always put it is, when doing press for this movie Matt Damon was asked if they'd do another to which he laughed and said something like "What would we call it, 'The Bourne Redundancy' ? No, the story's done" - I thought then, in 2007, that was one of the most astute, self-aware things i'd ever heard an actor say in an interview and having seen 'Jason Bourne', well, I _still_ think that :)
First: looking beautiful as ever 💕 Second: you're right, the 3, each one is better. Only movies can do that, many had better 2nd, then all about making money! Next is Jason Bourne, many years after, so he is very older. Many great actors in it, it's worth watching for the end, but not as good as the 3. I liked it, have watched it several times. These are all from books, so his past story could have been before in books, but made the movies better, right?
I just wish they had ended the film on the musical "sting" and Nicky's smile. IMO, that would have been a much stronger ending than showing him swimming away.
A final mission reaction, Addie, I think you must: JASON BOURNE. And if you wish, a surprise side quest: The Bourne Legacy. I won't say more just for the brief surprise of who and what. 'Nuff said.
Something I don't know if you caught or not. On the rooftop at the end Bourne says, "Look at what they make you give." This is something the asset trying to kill Bourne at the French country estate in the first movie said to Bourne just before he dies.
You were Quire Hyped for this one. I feel like you'd like Red or The Whole Nine Yards if you like this. Spy Game is also good and a personal Favorite. The Recruit is also good. All CIA movies... which makes me think of another couple Jack Ryan movies like Clear and Present Danger and Enemy of the State.
When the radio announced that Jason Bourne's body had not been found after a 3-day search, the smile that crossed Nikki's face was priceless!
When they were talking, I think she was insinuating they used to be a couple, and that's why it was really hard for her

Finding the first two movies free on RUclips today, I launched back in. The only thing I remembered was the closing theme music and the doctor, played by Peter Finch, saying, "You came to us!"
However, the third movie wasn't offered free. So, I saw your offering and truncated as the movie was, you showed enough for me to feel satisfied. And your commentary was exciting. Thank you!
Underrated trilogy, glad you went through these 🙌🏽
This was the pinnacle of the series for me.
The books are way different than the movies. Don't get me wrong, I love the movies, they just updated them for the modern day. The books take place just after the Vietnam War. David Webb was living in Vietnam and wife and kids were strafed by a North Vietnamese jet as they played in the river. This lead him to wanting revenge and joining the CIA to get it
Fun one, Addie! I really enjoyed rewatching this with you. Thanks for sharing it. 🙂
Please watch the next two! I know some people don't like them but it helps wrap up the whole story and I still think you'd like them.
I'm hoping for at least one more Bourne movie. But what would be amazing would be if Bourne's character met and worked with Renner's character --- that would be dope!
@@1515cciUniversal Studios has green lit it. #6 is on its way.
IRL my fave news source is The Guardian news. It is a fun journey keeping up with Bourne. Enjoyed your reactions.
"From now on, you'll be known as Darth Va..., err, Jason Bourne".
The Bourne Legacy with Jeremy Renner is actually good, you should watch that one too.
In the book, David Webb was "all-in" for the Treadstone operation. He volunteered.
Just like in the movie. 🤔
17:00 Addie "I did not know that was possible..." Me: "I'm still not sure it is in real life." 🤣
28:55 that smile is one of my favourite parts of the entire Bourne series.
This was "the end" for years. So "we" didn't know if Bourne would survive until the "smile" and the moving in the water. Heck we didn't know they would show him swimming off or if they'd leave it open.
Another Adorable Addie Adventure, keep them coming Addie.
Please continue with the set of movies! I love The Bourne Legacy and it does provide more details about ‘the program’.
"Ronin" (1998)
"The Peacemaker" (1997)
"Nobody" (2021)
"The November Man" (2014)
"R.E.D." (2010)
"Central Intelligence" (2016)
"The Assignment" (1997)
"The Equalizer" (2014)
"Man on Fire" (2004 remake)
"Jack Reacher" (2012)
"Johnny English" (2003)
"The Mechanic" (2011 remake)
"Three Days of the Condor" (1975)
Love your enthusiasm & excitement.
I highly recommend "The Bourne Legacy"
Good movie, fills in some gaps.
Thank you! ❤❤❤
I was one of those who did not think Matt Damon was the right choice for this role. Boy, is my face still red.
Omg I finally caught to all the reactions. This has been a long journey binge watching the last two weeks haha
Addie turning into Bourne by the end had me laughing out loud :)
"I didn't know that was possible." It isn't, they used tethers and removed them from the film using post processing effects.
Please continue with the rest of the Bourne movies and definitely include Legacy
One of the greatest chase and fight scenes of all time as well.
First: looking beautiful as ever 💕
Second: you're right, the 3, each one is better.
"You are nine hours behind the toughest target you have ever tracked."
One of my favorite trilogies.
'Nuff said.
@16:58
"I did not know that was possible."
Look up video of Toni Bou. He'll blow your mind.
Definitely check out the Bourne Legacy, It is a great addition to the series!!!!!!
“Get some rest Pam, you look tired”
The next one The Bourne Legacy, happends in the same time period as Ultimatum. They are simultanious movies.
