I’m glad you found it helpful! I like to include the fabric from the RTW because I do think it makes a difference when we sew our own. Sometimes the pattern company recommends per the original, but sometimes not
Great job matching patterns to ready to wear. As a teenager, I used to look at fashion magazines for inspiration, then find a similar pattern. Then, when i was a young mother, I would look through catalogues, and make my kids something similar. And here I am, 66, still doing the same thing. We sewists are so lucky we can make our own quality clothes.
Thanks! I was surprised too when I found a few that were almost identical to the pattern covers! Just makes it even more fun if we decide to sew the look.
Hi ,great show,er,channel.bThings have changed sa great deal at storefronts & online shopping too. I've been offline & secluded since 2010...pow! Hi Sharon! THANK YOU for telling us about S.J. Harris in Minneapolis. My son and daughter-in-law invited my husband and me to visit them in Minneapolis for Mother’s Day. Son asked if there was anything I really wanted to do (besides just hanging out with them). I said YES - take me to the fabric store. WOW! What a store - over whelming. I bought remnants for $2 per yard and cut fabrics for half-price. Can’t wait to go back - with a bigger suitcase!
That’s FABULOUS! I am so happy that I helped you to discover SR Harris, and you found some great treasures! You’ll have to visit your son and DIL more often just you can visit the fabric store😂 My family knows when I’m in town visiting that I always make a stop there.
I love these videos! You do such a good job with the dupes! It would be helpful if you could include the name of the designer item written over top of the inspiration piece that matches the pattern (or just the designer)..It's sometimes hard to hear which designer it is, especially if I'm not familiar with the brand .I often go look at the exact fabric and construction details on the original item to help select a good match for my own makes. Thank you!
Oh, I know! That’s why I included it because I couldn’t believe the difference when I came across the same rounded godet in the soft fabric. I wanted to share what a difference fabric choices can make!
Wow! I wonder who copied who. They were pretty well exact copies of each other right down to thd styling and colour, except for the last one. I would have thought there was a copywrite infringement happening there somewhere
Well, I can’t say for sure, but my guess is the RTW was produced, and the pattern company created patterns based off of those. (I had researched the content for this video months ago, when the spring collections from the pattern companies were released. I just didn’t have a time to get it published until now.) It’s my understanding that over the years the sewing patten companies have given us home sewists the ability to sew designer looks with some of their pattern. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks, Sharon! That was awesome
I’m so excited to see these pairings. It helps me get my fashion plate 26 yo daughter excited about me sewing for her.
Wow, I love these videos where you find the inspiration .. actually they are exact dupes!
And the ready to wear fabrics are really helpful to know about. The fabric is essential to the look.

Always love your videos! Thanks!
Love your pairings!❤

Thank you! I’m glad that you enjoyed the video.
I still sew big 4 patterns but really enjoy some of the Indie patterns as well.

I did the same thing! I still love matching RTW with patterns but don’t sew many of the matches 😂🤷🏻♀️
Wow, this was amazing to see the ready to wear clothes that look almost exactly like the pattern envelope examples! I'm amazed you found all of them!
Thanks! I was surprised too when I found a few that were almost identical to the pattern covers! Just makes it even more fun if we decide to sew the look.

the Know me 2093...Wow-I would have never connected that stiff skirt on the package with the soft RTW
