Nice video - wish there was more on strategy. I have watched tournaments and have no idea what they are thinking or doing. Towards the end you missed a chance to show how “on back line of scoring zone does not count for the zone where most of the puck lies (I.e. need to see wood between puck and line when viewed directly overhead).
Great video. If the puck overhangs the sides, do you get extra points like overhanging the end? And the pucks look like they are spinning, do you spin them as you slide them?
Up to the player if the puck spins or not! It's entirely dependent on the release. As for the sides, no additional points there. It's just the far end where hangers count for scores.
We let it up to who ever is hosting the shuffle night. Some places I play do not give the extra point for a hangar. Others honor the hangar and the infamous double hangar in the corner! House rules. Keeps things interesting. Good shuffle to ya!
I saw a sport being played professionally a few weeks back TV it looked just like this but each turn they started by throwing three discs at once in one hand please tell me what I was watching? It was pretty cool it looked like this
It can be! We frequently re-wax our showroom shuffleboards with gutter wax if a lot is accumulating. We've even heard of customers using small vacuum cleaners specifically for recycling their wax.
Can you exceed 15 and still win or do need exactly 15? If you have say 12 points and go on to score say 5 the next round do you win or bust and go back to 12? Thanks
15 or over will give a player victory. Doesn't need to be precisely! Though that could be an interesting spin on the game if you wanted to add extra challenge!
Hi there - Is there any version of Shuffleboard where all points count? For example, let's say I land one puck on a 3, and another puck on a 2. I have 5 points. My oppponent lands 3 pucks all on the #1. He has 3 points. Can we finish the round 5 to 3? Or even better, like corn hole, this makes the score 2-0 because I finished two points higher?
I’ve seen tables with four zones or five zones at the end - not the standard three. Is the scoring the same? Is that still for standard shuffleboard, or a different variation?
The number of scoring zones doesn't change the rules, scoring works the same (including the additional 1 point for scoring a hanger). More scoring zones is definitely more commonly seen on longer tables.
One rule that I cannot seem to find is how far is a player allowed to push the puck with their hand? Is there a "foul" if they stay guiding the puck too far on the board?
As long as the player is stood behind the horse collar (the end of the shuffleboard) and not taking their shot from the side, they can push as long as they're able to. Thankfully, most shuffleboard playfields are long enough (and most peoples' arms are short enough) for it to not make as much of a difference overall.
Are you from England? I've always wondered if they play across the pond. We play 21' boards. Canada 18' love the game. Just curious if people play around the globe
You can let go of the weight as late as you like before the line, but you have to be standing at the end of the table, not the side. Great if you have exceptionally long arms. ;)
Depends entirely on your space. You still have to be in control of your shots whatever size table you're playing on. It only matters really if you want something that's competition spec. :)
Ok so just to clarify, it’s still a bonus point if it hangs off one of the “sides” ? And not just the top edge?, for example it could be hanging off the side in the 2 point zone so this would count as 3 points? Thanks
They come as standard with the shuffleboard from Brunswick. If you are interested in ordering one or two as "parts" please contact our sales team by email: sales@homeleisuredirect.com and we can look into a price for you. Many thanks.
I want to buy a table but I know nothing about it; how much your table cost and where do you purchased it? What's the best manufacturer if money is not an issue??????
@@phaedruscj3330 oh my friend; you are dead wrong, I'm pretty sure I can afford it. I already have an arcade room with 6 new in box pinball machines, 5 arcade games and a billiards table, the reason for my question is that a shuffleboard is the only entertainment that I want in my room to complete my room. I have no kids, no wife and make pretty high in the 6 figures so I'm sure I can spare $10k-$25k for a shuffleboard.
Could be a few reasons for that, but the most common is that the plank probably needs to be re-levelled. Will definitely be the case if you're noticing your shots gravitating towards one side. It can happen if it's on a particularly soft/spongy carpet with lots of people walking by frequently. :)
@@HomeLeisureDirect I think I just can't shoot it properly and that's what happens. But yeah, I will blame the table from now on. Just sounds better. :D
@@obiwanfisher537 My advice is use the side of the plaing surface so keep your shot straight. Use the index and thumb to hold the puck then the rest down the side of the board. :)
Prevention is the best type of cure here, as using an opponent's colour would invalidate the round. If every player has their own coloured pucks in-hand at the start of each round, you'll be unlikely to play with one of your opponent's colours by mistake.
I noticed a lot of the pucks were spinning. I also noticed a lot of the pucks were pulling to the center. Were you spinning them upon release and is the table warped to pull pucks back towards the center? Thanks in advance... Also, great video!
They were spinning them on release, the table is supposed to be level, doesn't take much spin to curve a shot. This game is also fun as hell. Hope you've been able to try it out since posting your comment.
I just played on a brand new plank, and the pucks roll off either side. Nothing was sticking onto the plank like in this video. Absolutely no hangers. If you shot anywhere near the edge, your puck would go in the gutter. And sometimes even a few inches away from the edge, after almost coming to a stop, the puck would move towards the edge and fall off. People are saying the wood "needs to settle" (it is brand new). I don't buy it. I think the plank was made poorly. Any suggestions? Thanks
That doesn't sound right at all. The climatic adjusters haven't been installed correctly, if at all. The plank should be concave. Perhaps it hasn't been installed properly by a professional, it might have been ordered for delivery only and the owner has just set up the cradle and dropped the plank in without any adjustment to the plank itself.
Home Leisure Direct thanks so much for the quick response. Yeah I'm not sure who set it up when it was delivered. So it sounds like maybe the plank is ok and the whole setup might be able to be adjusted. I'll see if we can contact the company who built it.
@@HomeLeisureDirect okay another question. What would you consider the perfect size I know there isn't but what would you consider for the best tournament size?
@@justinambrose3107 Official tournament spec uses tables that are 22ft long. Naturally this isn't terribly practical for a lot of home customers, so "as long as you like/can get" is a pretty good bet (the most popular size usually being around 12 or 14ft). The dynamics of the game really don't change all that much between sizes though, so don't think the game dynamics will change too much. :)
It's a little tricky to explain with just words, but I'll do my best! Only one player can score in each round. The player who scores the points is the one who has the furthest weight down the plank. From that furthest weight on the plank, count how many points it scores by seeing what scoring zone it has ended in. From the weight you’ve just counted, work backwards and find the next one. If it’s another one of the scoring colours, then add its score. Keep adding until you reach a weight of the opponent’s colour.
