Alternate ending: Rod is still a good friend
aww
rod williams, tsa
ahh yes makes sense
Dagger33 I love rod👍🏾
I love rod so much! He’s cute lol
The irony is that this “alternate” ending would most likely be our real world ending
In Australia he would be out in seconds identity politics is very important here in fact you have a higher chance of going to prison if you're white
@Apollox44 Pollo he said higher chance of going to prison because if you are black, you wouldn't have a chance to be alive to go to prison.
@Apollox44 Pollo Do you live in Australia and can you provide statistics to prove the comment wrong? Or did you just miss the fact that he said Australia and not America?
@@keyboardfreedomfighter5734 He said Australia.

Okay but the fact that the AUDIENCE expected THIS ending instead of the one the director chose speaks VOLUMES about our society. I also expected this ending and bc of that I started crying when the police car showed up.
Yeah! Jordan mentioned that he cut this ending after he felt like people finally started to wake up to the truth about what black people go through, with BLM and police brutality, and felt like he no longer needed it.
Well who wouldn’t expect it? A cop car was driving up just after he was done killing his girlfriend. So naturally you would expect the driver to be an officer and the person to be arrestedz
@@jacklemm1518 yep this comment is stupid.
@@Skyler_Momoko no offense but if you pulled up to a crime scene with two dead bodies and a guy covered in blood it looks wrong. Anyone would have went to jail

I really expected this ending. Everyone in the theater gasped then cheered when we saw who came out the car.
So glad Jordan went with a happy ending. We needed it ✊🏾

Ignore what I’m about to say but nice troll
Jordan was right, the alternate ending sets a totally different mood on the whole movie. I’m not so sure which ending I preferred. The ending it has makes the movie a fantasy, the alternate ending makes it more of a commentary. I fuckin love this movie.
I agree with everything you say except for the word 'fantasy', to me it seems more 'less likely' which is probably what you meant. Amazing film nonetheless.
It's better. Other ending is too light hearted. This would havw actually made me like the movie more. Darker
The alternate one was actually a bit unrealistic because if the house had been checked it would have been obvious to see what they were doing
Crodept thank you so much this is the first comment I’ve seen pointing this out!!!
@@crodept4241 Sorry if I sound rude but I'm just thinking unfiltered.
You missed something very important. The neurosurgeon was a FREAKING EVIL GENIUS. His last few seconds of consciousness allowed him to tip the candle and set the whole house on fire from the basement up. Also neurosurgeon's "friends" ie. customers he invited over for the "party" ("bingo" bidding event for Chris) would cover up the scene and evidence. If necessary, hire private clean up crews, kill the clean up crews and kill the killers and so on because they have the money to make sure it's kept unknown and not traced back to them.
This is also unrealistic unless I'm being biased, but police drive up and see a bloody black guy or any guy on top of a bloody white girl, at NIGHT with poor visibility. They could shoot him just for suddenly raising his hands up in the air because unless you're a cop, the police fear for their life after seeing Chris on top of the girl. Aren't police also trained with a predator vs prey mindset from what John Oliver said. But still shooting with the girl right next to Chris is reckless, but they don't know if he's gonna kill her with a knife stabbing.
Unfortunately to be honest in real life I bet everybody including me, you and everyone in the world wouldn't believe Rod's story unless hypnosis and transferring consciousness was possible. If this stuff is real, that would be batshit horrifying.
But yes you are right, the police might have found out if they were guided properly by Rod. But then all the "friends"/customers want to leave no traces so they would be hiring lawyers to make sure that justice never happens, so literally money would cover up the horror. At the same time I don't know anything about law and crime so maybe the FBI would be able to do something about it. But the FBI has a budget and the government runs on money so if they run out of money and they will not be able to pay overtime for FBI agents and lawyers which means justice doesn't prevail.
Sorry for the long post but I just wanted to have a pragmatic, pessimistic, but realistic perspective since the police and FBI need to get paid for the detective work. Peele was so kind to not leave people with a broken heart. But NO WAY would Rod be able to get a police car! Maybe he could get help from the TSA somehow talking to the highest boss to do something and them hearing him out since he's got clout with them. So the moral of the story is Rod is your true best brother for life!
Lesson of the movie: Always Trust your best friend first.
Unless, it's a movie/book about betrayal from a best friend, huh 😐 In this life, TRUST NO ONE...

The biggest twist in the movie for me is that This Version is how I expected it to end
well if it was real life it is what would happen unfortunately, i thoguth the same, glad it changed
They would of have shot him.
Hats why he changed it
Facts
Murder Motion Pictures facts they would of shot him. Or threw him in jail but that would be too expected , it was better and actually could happen in real life both ways but this isn’t based in reality to begin with
This is a realistic and smart ending, but I believe the original ending is the superior one and Jordan Peele made the right choice to give Chris a happy ending after all the dark shit he just went through. The original ending feels a bit more satisfying
Realistically he would've gotten shot by the cops
Bullshit, this is not a realistic ending. Assuming Chris was arrested at the scene, cops would have found out about the Armitage's operation. Chris would have been let go afterwards.
Duxitisation B the house went in flames everything would be destroyed
Film Toppings doesn’t matter if it’s a bit more satisfying.
Happily ever after endings make the movie bad and unrealistic this should have been the true ending
@@hermes7330 Rod was good at figuring out the general idea of what was happening even though he wasn't there. Surely he'd be able to track down the people who were in on it but weren't there during the fire and find some evidence from them?
I know others have commented on it...but I think the reason Rose smiled when Chris started choking her (before the lights started flashing) is because she took morbid pride in corrupting an otherwise innocent black man and turning him into a murderer. It was also a final opportunity to show her true face and ensure he'd see it every single night in his nightmares for the rest of his life.
Or in her head she was thinking "Harder daddy"
No doubt
Love this!!
I think she smiled cause she is a psychopath
Sounds like you talking from experience lol
Fact: There was another alternate ending that was never filmed. That ending would see Rod breaking in to the Armitage estate, finds Chris and calls his name, only for him to respond, "I assure you, I don't know who you're talking about."
Yooooooo that would have been wild
Omg that’s a game changer

That ending would've been stupid. The blind guy didn't talk like that.
The original & alternate ending is a perfect example of Expectations Vs. Reality
To be completely fair, I'm sure in real life anybody would have landed in prison. All the police have are dead bodies, a burnt house without any evidence and a guy covered in blood talking about brain swapping.
The original ending is fantasy, the alternate is reality, with or without racial message.
Mufti_Menk Would all the evidence really have been burned though?
@@jsd2232 the house has been shown to completely burn down, including the basement

This was what everyone expected to happen when those sirens appeared, and having Rod arrive instead in the actual ending was such a nice, happy subversion of our expectations, it was such a relief to see "airport security" on the door then see him getting out.
it was an effective twist for the theater. everyone in the crowd thought he was about to get shot by police for a few tense moments and clapped with relief. also a black man gets to be 'final girl' in a horror movie is also something different
honestly i prefer this ending because of the ‘i stopped it’ meaning that he doesn’t care he’s in jail. he stopped them for good and it also shows what probably would have happened meaning it realistic like the theme throughout the entire movie of ‘no one ever believes the black guy’ but both endings and incredible and it’s an amazing film i loved jordan peele as the director
But as many have pointed out, I doubt the fire would’ve destroyed everything. Surely there would’ve been some remnants of what was going on. Also, the grandpa and maid who died they surely would’ve seen they had something wrong with them by their heads.
@@RB01.10 They were part of the élite though they could've burn any remaining evidence
@@RB01.10 Additionally, that guy Andre and who knows how many other black people Rose and her family lured to the house and did the procedure are still stuck having rich white people control their bodies until they die. Although I guess the fact that there won’t be anymore people that suffer that fate is a good enough outcome
@@AfewEwoks This ending ain't realistic at all either, if police interrogates chris and gets in house they find everything,
•Rose pics with most missing black males,
•Doctor dead
•Patient with head cut open
•servants with head stitch marks
•Most likely, video footage of coagula stuff.
•Pic of andre, chriss took,
I doubt even in real world he would be jailed with this many proofs against rose's family.
So you don't think they would have upon entering the house, noticed that they were performing illegal brain transplant surgery? Any homicide detective on his first day on the job upon reviewing all of the evidence left at that house would conclude that they were holding him hostage and he escaped. No names needed and thus, the original ending only made sense.
The way she smiled when he started to choke her ..soulless
Right? She gave an *incredibly* chilling performance. I shuddered multiple times. She seemed so innocent and good, and then...
shit was kinda sexy.. Quagmire moment🤣
I think it’s meant to be a twisted nod to “Othello.” Othello strangled his beloved wife because of his paranoid beliefs she was unfaithful, only to discover she was innocent and he had been misled by Iago. She loved him so much she refused to incriminate him. Her last words in the play: “Commend me to my kind lord.”
In this film we have a paranoid, suspicious Black protagonist but his girlfriend truly is guilty of betrayal.
Christina Lomeli 😂😂😂
She liked it
he’s such a good guy tbh. he didn’t give a fuck that he’s arrested for doing something good, all that he cared about was that he had already stopped them. he’s my favorite horror movie protagonist.
clair Same I love Chris✊🏾❤️
Yeah, but I'd also like if he tried to help rescue Logan and the others. But on the other hand, it is very traumatizing and understandable.
I don’t know that it was he didn’t care about being arrested . But maybe just lost hope?
@@joycey9713 The only way for that to happen, is that they bring back his old brain and replace the one in his head for it, so no. I don't even actually know why he felt the need of taking Georgina with him, can someone explain that?
I thought he didn't even care that he was in prison because at least in prison, he's safe. Nothing like what happened in the movie will ever happen to him again.
I know that this may sound weird, but I have concluded that the police officer who asked for Chris's registration was actually good. That officer would have known that black people go missing around that area and they would have been suspect of the girl he was with. The fact that Rose was so insistent on stopping him from giving registration was very suspect considering her role in the movie. The registration would have helped the police to locate Chris at the house if he were to go missing.
Doesn't sound weird at all. In fact, Jordan Peele actually confirmed that was his intention with the scene
@@shaulpagis-sharon4484 Oh really. Thanks, I never knew that. I was just thinking that there must be greater significance to that scene.

Odds are decent that after the credits, the police went looking for the boyfriend after an entire family was brutally murdered during his visit. He can only directly call one killing self-defense, and I doubt cops or jurors in that area would be overly receptive to the "they were literally trying to steal my fucking body" argument

WRONG. The fact that this ending is much more tragic, realistic and unfair, makes it a more shocking and eventually better ending than the original one. The fact that it breaks your heart as you said, just proves my point.. That this is a much more effective way to end the journey.
Endings like these don't always translate to film. In a novel it would work perfectly but as you expect at the end, the police to show up and arrest him or shoot him because he's a black man. I thought that this ending was going to happen. It was nice to be proved wrong and get a happy ending.
peele wanted it to be a happier ending because the state of the world was already sad enough as it already is and im sure his target audience was much more happier being able to see the current ending rather than this ending.
Augusto Alvarez that's an opinion man. U can't just go around yelling WRONG like ur Trump or some crap.

Even if the house burned down the police could still uncover a lot of the forensic and of course witness evidence from the people that knew the family. There's way too much info to not know about what was going on in the house after everything is investigated. Chris could be jailed for a period but I think he'd go free in the end. He could just say "go look at the surgery scars on (like 5 peoples heads, etc). They'd have to make new criminal laws about people like the grandpa, who attacked Chris with his own mind, but in the body and name of another. It would be a shitstorm. Love the movie though.

IM HAPPY THAT WASNT THE ENDING!
The director used the cliffhanger for the original ending because what happen after he got out of the house doesn't affect the film.
Beside, he want us to focus more on why Chris didn't kill Rose. Yet he could kill Rose's whole family because of anger, but he couldn't kill her with his own hands. Chris's feelings for Rose was true. "You are my everything. I'm not gonna leave without you ( despite I'm scared af and want to leave this place )" said Chris to Rose earlier in the movie. He couldn't kill her and he hated himself for it. We see Chris is more human than ever after we saw him killed so many people so easily and emotionless.
TMT 50 so what you’re saying is that if it was a white person who had all the evidence leading to him burning down a house and killing a family they wouldn’t have arrested him? I don’t think that part has anything to do with race or bad police work
Frankie K it’s called white privileged
Billy Bob I’m going to assume you’re trolling because I’ve never heard of a person burning down a house and killing literally a whole family, being caught on site, then not getting arrested just because he/she is white
Frankie K I’m talking about what TMT 50 said my bad if you got confused.
Original ending’s remarkable saying: “I told u not no go in to their house”
Alternative ending’s remarkable saying: “i stopped them”
In my opinion original ending was chosen right as this ending added to this move more identity and the needed stress relief) loving this cool movie!
The realistic ending we didn't want, so we got the fan favorite one 😁
This ending is predictable, this ending is what everyone expected. Glad they kept the original ending where he actually “Got Out “ 😂😂
This alternative ending is more realistic. The one they went with is Hollywood happy ending
LOSTINDAkLOUDS I was thinking the same thing
LOSTINDAkLOUDS sad but true very sad boy wouldn’t of had a chance
This ending wasn’t predictable. You know that the good guy ALWAYS wins in the end. Nearly every movie made, the good guy gets out alive!
Ikr!!😊😊
god damn the way he said 'i stopped them, y'know, i stopped them' bruh i woulda burst into tears on god
yeah it also makes me think of why he's staying. is it that he knows Rose is still alive and will continue their work?
@@TKtheBardess nah she dead as fcked in both endings
@@animeonly1993 I hope so but you know how Jaseon kept "dying" and Chuckie kept "dying" and Freddy kept "dying"....
Well... Unlike them, Rose isn't a supernatural serial killer. Besides it's a movie, best not to overthink it.
I almost did burst into tears, that's was rough. Damn
In both endings Rod is a true mate. Respect for him ✊👊
After watching the alternate ending, it has left me completely and utterly speechless. Yes, this would have been a terrible ending and an emotional story coming to an end for pretty much everyone, but unfortunately if this were to happen in today's world, the African American man would probably be found guilty for his actions, especially being in a mostly white person neighborhood. This movie shows the extremely harsh reality that African Americans go through, and in some occasions, they are taken advantage of and are given very little to no respect at all. I'm sure many of you have seen the book To Kill A Mockingbird written by Harper Lee, and this movie brings back so many flashbacks to me reading that book in eighth grade. Tom Robinson was found guilty of raping Mayella for doing absolutely nothing. He did not commit any crime and instead Mayella tried to kiss him because she had never kissed a man before. Thinking back to everything going on in our world today, it really does show that discrimination is something that is a problem. The tragedies of Trayvon Martin, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd are always going to be something that we will all remember. Everyone wants the violence, segregation, and racism to end, but it feels like it keeps on getting worse and worse. Like W.E.B. Du Bois, an African American activist said, there is a feeling of "double-consciousness, this sense of always looking at one’s self through the eyes of others, of measuring one’s soul by the tape of a world that looks on in amused contempt and pity.”
I don't know what to change the comment back to
They're all gonna come back, maybe someone gonna die(you know captain or iron man) but they would just replace it, it's quite unlikely that marvel would trough way they most famous and I conical superheros
Gavdog my poor Ta'Chala😭
Naww when Spiderman died that was the end of it for me
Did anyone actually take that ending seriously like we all know their gonna come back
Gavdog But at least he stopped it.
He is a good friend though

I’ve only realised that there’s an alternate ending! All this time!?!
This is a great ending too. I have to say though I think the regular ending was something the audience needed - plus the "TSA" reference at the end was priceless.
That would've happened in real life sadly
In real life the cops would either shoot em or do what they did, sure there would be a case but most likely he would be in jail.
Jayy Prime sad truth
Yes because you’ve got to realise what it looked like a dead person on the ground with some one covered in blood on top of her
armenian nationalist that really upset you.. why?
Jayy Prime ,yes it would of cause nobody would believe him, except me white people do some weird shit I know I'm white go back to the history books most are demented ,hell some white folks even give me the fucking creeps unless you were raised right um I think their fucking weird thank god I can exclude myself from the crazy ha ha ha!
Ending they picked is better. Love the way it absolutely plays you into fearing and thinking this is going to happen. It also gives Chris's friend a more important role to appear instead of these 2 random cops that appear out of nowhere.
🙂
They didn’t appear out of know where. 3 rifle shots were fired. They didn’t have close neighbors but the dad did say someone lived near by
I guess, but I would think they were smart enough to live where no one would hear gunshots, at least no one who would care. This ending also plays better into the movie's constant expectation subversion.@@Wh4L205
@@Wh4L205 I didn't know police could appear in the crime scene that fast ... the time difference between the shots fired and police appearing was barely 5 minutes...it definitely made more sense that rod was the one who appeared
@@shubhambiswas7776 So I’m guessing you never heard of police being in the area. Do you think they all have to come from the police station when a call is made? And not once did I say it was the better ending.
I like this ending..face reality..he sees he stopped him..the law sees an out of place person that went cray & tried to torch the evidence..without strong evidence the law wins every time..FACE IT
This would’ve turned it into just full blown horror… bc it’s closer to reality
Thank god we didn't get this ending. This would have been a knee to the groin.
Sledgehammer to the groin
No this would have had a good message
@@hermes7330 good message or not, it's still stereotypical. We need a happy ending every now and then.
Jeff Dallo the reason why we get these ending is because good ones are stereotypical
A C E the only one playing into stereotypes is yourself, pull your head out of your ass. There’s no way in hell that house with the fucking lab inside of it would be overlooked by the police, burnt down or not. There’s evidence everywhere, but people like you just assume black people are instantly victims when it comes to the law. Fucking joke!
I prefer the original ending: "I'm T.S... motherfuckin'-A. We handle shit. That's what we do. Consider this situation... fuckin' handled."-Rod
Bruce Crawford that was corny as fuck
oh ma gadd bobo42024 how did you come up with tht one?? we never heard it before
Yes!
Yeah, it's a crowd-pleaser, the ending they went with. But seriously, what would have happened in the weeks and months after the real ending they used? I think this alternate ending would have made a more powerful statement. Maybe it's too much for the movie-going audience... but this ending made me "feel" something, and not just laugh it off like the "TS-mf-A" ending.
Tyler Munden The writer of the script said he wanted to put this alternative ending to put to light the racism africans are exposed to from cops. However, after events such as ferguson or the one earlier to it, he felt that he didn't need to anymore. I personally likes the original ending.
how timely and relevant would this film have been today if this ending was used rather than what they settled for
#justiceforgeorgefloyd
#blacklivesmatter
Even in 2017 it would’ve been applicable, probably why it was made
Thank you Jordan for giving us the other ending.
all police officers are white
2:30 all other prisoners are black
jordan peele was really trying to paint an image here.
Wait till you watch 'Us' and try to decipher those messages, it's a bit unreal. Just saw it today
Which is completely absurd considering that all races are incarcerated. It’s a propaganda war machine to start another civil war not trying to show inequality.
@@mohitoBhau5499 i am looking forward to seeing it!
Ronnie Warford You obviously have NEVER been to jail or prison. Almost all prisoners are black males and females.

The fact that he can't remember anything says a lot to the fact of the reach of the family as well as the ultimate power these people had over the physical and mental state of the people they took over.
It’s also sad when you realize how many innocent people they likely murdered in trying to perfect their experiments.
I think he chose the right ending in the end to use. I like that everyone thought this would be the ending on first watch but he subverts it and gives us a happy little twist.
This ending is more realistic, but so depressing.🙁 So i prefer the original(better) one
Dragon7ly well this ending did mate. To have to endure that amount of pain and still end up losing is unimaginable.
@Dragon7ly Low-grade trolling. He said it was depressing, not that it gave him depression. Being depressed by art has been a thing since art has existed.
@Dragon7ly The latter half of your sentence is completely wrong.
Dragon7ly God you are stupid
Sometimes you don’t get to choose your ending.
This would’ve been a BOLD ending
a *BOLD* ending
The Green Pill Mindset lol no.
The Green Pill Mindset and what makes you think that this ending would propel it to victory?
The Green Pill Mindset it’s pretty good, but people tend to act like it was some groundbreaking film. It honestly wasn’t. This ending wouldn’t have made a difference.
You must be a bold one to write such a comment
This really is the most realistic ending💀
Its been 6 years and this still made my heart sink
I guess this ending is more impactful and necessarily better? But as Jordan Peele said in the commentary of this, we need a hero lol. So I think they made the right choice.
Anthony Rosenthal but he’s still a hero in this version, he basically sacrificed himself, in many ways he’s more a hero in this version. I love both endings but I think this was is more topical, regardless I’m really happy that Jordan Peele released both endings, I’m sure he knows both endings are great.
when i watched the film for the first time i was so sure this was what was going to happen because i thought it would be some sort of 'everything he went through was mostly for nothing' ending. i am so glad they went with the ending they did though because at least he stopped the weird racist(and possibly homophobic)cult and hopefully saved any other potential victims. i understand that this is what would actually happen in a situation like this but i agree with the 'we need a hero' thing because this ending is just super depressing. it might be better, but it's still depressing.
Anthony Rosenthal anthony i love you
also I expected this ending, the ending they chose I didn't expect even though it's not a happy ending.
Me too. If they used this ending, people would use the excuse that all blacks in prison are actually innocent of crimes that they did, in fact, commit (just because Chris in this fictional movie was innocent).
This ending was used in texas and utah
Jayant Srivastava 😂😂😭😭
Dang.....
Was it really
I’m from the 🇬🇧 UK so I’m guessing Texas and Utah are racist making the joke funny
Jaster lol yea I’m from Texas and stereotypically my state is a right wing state filled with nothing but racist bigots who are very conservative but in reality it’s not that bad compared to the rest of the country
This ending is more impactful because it really shows the importance of Chris' actions. He put a stop to what was happening. The comment "I stopped him" could have also been implemented in the final version where he doesn't get arrested. It would also be interesting to see a movie where the protagonist doesn't exactly win.
In my opinion both endings work, but I prefer the one we got opposed to this one. After what happened to Chris I’m glad he got away and Rod was there to save him. In both endings Rod is one the best friends you could have.
You know the crazy part. When I saw this in theaters I thought this is exactly what would happen but instead it was Rod
Leon Youngblood it was TS Motha f'n A lol 😂😂
Dude A LOT of people thought this would be the ending (or that the cops would have shot him on the spot).
@@missmoanypants Well the cops that arrived on the scene witnessed him strangling an unarmed injured woman. Soooo the shooting most likely would have been justifiable.
Like the other one better. Movies like this have downer endings so much, it’s nice to have one where the hero doesn’t get screwed.
Zack Little I'd be inspired, no one would know the truth but the man would be a hero. Like he said, he stopped it.
I'm fairly sure all he did would fall under self-defense. Brutal, but understandable in his situation.
JOE knows lmao so self defense isn't a thing?
JOE knows it’s self defense. It was 5 people trying to kill one man. He’s not wrong for defending himself against them all.
Zack Little but he screwed himself...multiple ways.he killed every1\defended himself & still in the wrong(what really does happen in real life)she smiled in the end while being choked.THEY WON.HE LOST.didn't get to go home to his dog.yes it's just a movie but the alternate end end sure has a point.the directors job is to allow us to think not to love the character.
glad i found out about this from a lboxd review. i was literally expecting this ending as soon as i heard the police car sirens
this is trash to the realone
Thank god this was a alternative ending, Rod is the best friend ever.
