🔷 ABOUT US 🔷
We're a DIY family building our "forever homestead" from 15 acres of raw undeveloped land in Tennessee. All of our content is family friendly and safe for everyone to enjoy.
In today's video we finish our concrete pier foundation for the new workshop! We cut our tube forms level, mix and pour the concrete, place rebar in our forms, and finish off the piers with our concrete-to-beam simpson tie brackets. Let's go!

😁 Seeing y'all is like seeing your favorite cousins pull in the driveway! You know it's always gonna be a fun time!!!🤗 Y'all.are an amazing team💞
You're too kind! :)
That's the best compliment ever!
Oh and you could build a house on this foundation. Now that. Would be a GREAT series. Just a thought lol
I wonder how that fiberglass rebar would work for tomato stakes ?
Now there's an idea!!
Great job once again. One suggestion for marking around your pillar cylinders: get yourself an 18" combination square. It will work just like your huge "T" square but is much easier to handle. Keep up the awesome work guys!
Looks like your workshop is going to be nice and big. You will be able to set up tools, tool chests, a workbench, and probably build some good size things. I'm sure that you are going to have the space to show your boys how to build things, use tools, and hang out with dad. Great job 👏👏👏. I can't wait to see the progress on your workshop.
I hope it turns out that way too! The business aspect of this workshop may even be something one or both boys take over in their future too.. never know! It would be amazing if whatever starts in this workshop grows into something of their own someday.
I am sitting here watching you doing all this amazing work Sam, and I think you are a very clever man .
We love you guys so much. Your homeliness, kindness, and calmness is addicting plus Sam no matter what your laughing and we all need this, plus I don’t mind watching twice. Like I said over on SamCraft let the fun begin with building. After the build of the building are you going to bring us along building your shop out inside with workbench organization and so forth. That will be fun to watch and the turn current shop into recoding studio
THIS MIGHT SOUND DUMB BUT YALL BRING US ALL SOME VERY MUCH NEEDED CALMNESS.
And that's a rap. Good videos of concrete work. It can be used in so many different ways and I love it. There you are , Angela. You must be making a lot of a soap these days. Thanks for sharing your homesteading with all of us. See you later.
Great job!
We don't think it's dumb at all, and are greatly honored by the comment! We follow a few channels closely and it's so nice to get the alert when they publish new content... for the exact same reasons as you said. :) It's like surprise break we get to take.
When you were cutting the forms I was singing ring around the rosy 😂
Love your videos and enjoy watching them every time they come on. May the lord bless and protect you and your family and working on the homestead
His content on SamCraft is cool too! 🤜
Thank you so much! We hope the same for you and yours too!
Amen. Much love ❤ from Indiana
I've missed you all!! I got spoiled when I went back and started from the beginning, I was able to visit with you anytime I logged on. I'm excited to see the workshop build moving forward. Great Job!!!
That’s a a pretty dang smart idea using the t-square to mark the tubes. Good job Sam.
Thanks!
Another step successfully completed and very well done. Can't wait to see the next step and all the way to the finish. Going to be a nice building
DONE! Great job! ❤’ed the BLOOPERS.
Wow! fiberglass rebar! Thats so cool! Im enjoying watching you work! Thinking of buying a doublewide, thats already had wood siding on it. Our house is just perfect, but 4 miles down the road theres this 2.5 acres, no hoa ( chickens) and its a great property. I found you by asking google if you can have a new sliding glass door added to a mobile! So yes you can!😊 im proud of you and your family for working hard to make your homestead!
Is it weird that I wait for new episodes of your videos to come out like I do my favorite TV series? Gold rush lol
I love watching that series too!!! (Sam) Angela just rolls her eyes, and I quickly quote "no guts, no glory!" in my best nasal voice! Hahaha
I love it when he puts his thing in fast motion it makes it sound like minions are talking behind him
Of course Sam is the perfection and good “Done”
Well that went smoother than the equipment hut. You’re getting goooood at this!!! ❤❤❤❤
Thanks!
You two are so funny. I love watching you. Often, I've been there, done that, and got the tee shirt. But today, there are new tools, etc, that make it easier. I loved the trick with the Sawzall.
My husband was one of those who built the internet, bounced info to satellites and over phone lines. We had a "computer" in the house when no one knew what it was.
My husband taught homself to type when that a female job. He could type at what seened like the speed of light. I wonder what he would think of technology today?
Oh what a great feeling looking at your homestead and knowing how much you accomplished in a relatively short time. Congrats!
It really is amazing! We were talking about that just the other day. It's been right at two years since we first got the land and started this journey and so amazing the blessings we've had to come so far!
Can't wait to see it done, it's going to be big, good job..
Looking good. It's not hot here in Canada at the moment, enjoy your beautiful weather.
I Believe when you were using the square ? To draw lines around tubular (dude) You could have timed that and made into a Dance Sam I love watching You & Angela (and the Boys) Do Anything You Do.. I ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO A NEW VIDEO ! SEE YA NEXT TIME. For Now it's DONE! God Bless You All their and We are Getting Rain, in MO & FREEZE WARNING Tomorrow night thru Mon am. We had been in 80's too. Take Care !
Yes very lucky no rain👍👏
Gread job you guys. Can't wait to see the building go up. You guys rock!
Thanks!
Everything is looking wonderful. Good job
Thanks so much! 😊
You very good work and a lot of it. Keep it up.
giving that cement mixer a work out fur shur. The whole vibrate the sono tube thing worked magic for you on this one.
Ole Kobalt is hating life for sure! It never knew we'd throw about 300 bags into it in the first two months of having it. Hahaha It's been a trooper though! The vibration trick was a great one!
That’s a good looking job. ATTA boy!
Thank you!
Love your devotion to doing it right! 😊❤❤
Thank you! 🤗
You are talking about no rain while doing that, as I am watching it has turned cold and rainy 😄
Look at " Speedy Sam" getting it done.....
Glad Yall are able to yalls
building projects done..
🌾🧡🍁
Hi Sam and Angela! Great job on the foundation work! Sam, you are a card! Lol 😊
Nice work 💯🙂
Looking great!
Thanks!
Those cut off pieces of tube you could make cement urns and flower cement forms for pots for around the farm
That's a great idea! I have kept them safe and dry for sure. They were too expensive to just toss. :)
Hi can’t wait to see your build ❤❤😊xxx
Hope you like it!
A big pat on the back to you Sam,
I think you learned a lot from the previous project.
Eveything looks more on center this time 😊
So funny watching you in time lapse.
Of course can't hold back a smile or laugh when we see the outros
Love you guys
Great job on the tedious part of the build. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Love watching the new build ❤😊
Project is gonna move quickly now that the cooler weather is on the way!!!
And we look forward to it!
@@GreenAcreHomestead same. Was 85 today. I harvested the last of my summer crops and herbs today. Also pulled up my ginger and repotted some to bring inside for the winter. Hopefully I can keep it alive until next spring to replant again. Gonna be starting our coop build soon if we can ever figure out a plan. Sketch up is complicated 😥
Great just job !
Fiberglass is a great idea. Steel rusts and expands and then the footer fails because concrete breaks.
A job well done. You guys work so well together. 🇦🇺🎸⚡️🤘🏿🤘🏼💋❤️
Thank you! We do enjoy working together!
@@GreenAcreHomestead so glad a good partnership is everything
wow
Good evening Sam and Angela , Im a bit late to this Im afraid , because both my husband and I have been away for a few days celebrating his birthday and our wedding anniversary , and we spent it in Scotland .
Hi Sam and Angela, the foundation looks great!Looking forward to the next video. 😊
Right on guys! Looking good and it looks like Santa is bringing Sam a new shop! Yeahhhh
It is going to be so nice and I know it will be put to good use! Best of luck with the build. Blessings
Im excited but I'm more excited for Sam! What a large workshop your making . You come along way Sam!!
Thank you so much, it has been amazing to be blessed to be able to build this and it help our family in return for the anticipated business growth. :)
That was a lot of work to get to this point but it looks like you nailed it, learning some new tricks from your previous foundation pour. Looking forward to seeing your workshop take shape! It's going to be grand!
Ginger cat always here to supervise 😂❤
He sure is! No cutting corners here!
that is a genious idea with the Sawzawl!
We had a few viewers tell us about it when we poured our carport footings a few months back. It works great!
I’m so happy for y’all! The homestead looks amazing! Love your channel! God bless you family
Thank you so much!
❤️👍👍👍
Hello beautiful family
Hello 😊
I’m happy because Sam is laughing
I'm excited for you and looking forward to some Samcraft from the new workshop. I am looking at the foundations and can't help thinking, look at all that storage space that'll be under there 😂
You and me both! I may or may not use it though... hate to junk it up with stuff. LOL But I still get the 'storage space tick' from it. Hahaha I'm excited for this project for sure and there will be a lot of Samcraft content in this new space! A good handful of workshop organization builds, workbench builds, etc. Some fun shop projects ahead for sure. :)
Love t
Love your channel, you’ve done so much and I’ve been following since before you moved on the homestead, I enjoy your family life and projects ❤❤❤
Awesome! We really appreciate you sticking with us!
looking forward to completion. thanks.
Hoping to be doing the same soon building a "carport barn". Never would have thought about doing that and mounting a building on. Hope i can grade my spot down and still not be a problem with drainage under it. Wanting to have it so i can go in later and put in a concrete floor. I know the size of tube and how tall affects it but what is the bag to tube ratio on mixing and filling the shorter tubes?
As a Californian my brain tingles with the idea of just building what you want, when you want. Where are all the bureaucrats?
🤔In California 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@therealcraigsutton2740 lol it's as bad as you imagine
Our condolences, but please keep them over there with you! :)
just awesome.....keep kickin' it.
Awesome Sam I look forward to seeing the finished project 💪🏻👊🏻👍
You and me both! :)
Using a bladeless reciprocating saw to get the air bubbles out of the concrete sure made passing time in the sun a whole lot quicker. Never know when the next good idea will come your way.
It was a great tip given to us by a few viewers, but we've always gotten great tips from viewers as we show things. Just this time, it was fresh enough that we put it into practice! :)
I was wondering what that pink rebar was! I’ve been seeing it around. Interesting….
Great job! I love your videos! Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much!
Saw this last night on your other channel
My other channel Samcraft did have its version of this project step uploaded yesterday. It was on the same subject, but contained different aspects and information than this one. Between the two channels there are 180,000 subscribers and each channel audience is interested in this build, but for different reasons. I'm filming and editing the videos differently to suit the channel's individuality while not leaving people out.
Both videos were great.
Well, lookachu! Over 1,000 views in 20 minutes! Yesr, yaw are loved and apparently, missed!!!
Big hugs! ✌️💖🙏🇺🇲✡️
Interesting video! Although I hope I never have to pour concrete! Thank you for not having music blaring. I like to pick my own music. Yours was not offensive!
❤😊
Curious, do you enclose the underside to prevent critters and temperature creep? Also, are you going to plumb the shop?
I will add insulation under the floor after the structure is dried in. Otherwise the rain would soak into it and cause mold or mildew. Otherwise the bottom will remain open as far as I have planned.
Good video. Who makes your forklift attachment on your tractor ?
I honestly don't know. Our Massey Ferguson has a skid steer quick attach (SSQA) system on the loader, so it will take any universal style attachments. This one was sold by a local farm equipment small business in the country. We've bought a few pieces of equipment from them over the last two years and always been treated right. :) The forks were a good deal, strong, and have been wonderful for our needs!
👍♥️
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
❤😊❤😊❤😊
What is the reason for the pillars being high off the ground?
To level the floor! Our girder beams will span across the pier footings and then our floor joists will span across the beams. This workshop will be on the same floor level as my current one so I can connect them in the future and not have any steps or ramps.
@@GreenAcreHomestead😢
Curious myself
@@GreenAcreHomestead Makes sense thanks for explaining.
💖💖👍👍💖💖
Breast Cancer awareness month rebar.
You’ll are getting good at footers.
After this, we're good if we don't have to dig any more footings for a while though. LOL
@@GreenAcreHomestead But you are so good at them! The new workshop is going to be great.
🙋♀️🌻
Sam, I assume you added rebar to all
Oh yeah, they're all good. :) On the taller ones, I put up to four sticks in each footing to be safe. I had it leftover and knew it wouldn't hurt any.
Watch this on other channel ?

When did y’all get a cat? What’s it’s name?
👍💞
Why not move the mixer to each tube and dump the mixer directly into the tube? Just curious!
We tried to do that with our carport build and it ended up being a big mess. :)
@@GreenAcreHomestead I was just curious. I in no way want to seem like an arm chair quarterback. I love watching everything y’all do. I too am a diy’er. Y’all just seem like good hard workin folks. Thanks for all the videos. Keep up the good work!!
Did you reupload this video ? I swear I saw this yesterday !

@@GreenAcreHomestead wow caught me by surprise I didn’t even notice this is a different channel lol 😂 but Love your videos and the way you explain things keep up the good work cheers !
This is a rerun?? Your last video was also rerun. ??
Why are your Workshop videos on your Sam Craft channel but not on Green Acres channel? On the Sam craft channel, you already have the plywood floor laid.
Be patient, this channel will get caught up soon.
Why not save a whole lot of work and bring in a concrete truck and a pump truck? And get the job done in an hour!
Also, if I may ask... What are the dimensions of the building?
No one learns any new skills or improves themselves by paying others to work for them. We are not here for the quick fix, we prefer to learn, DIY, and share with others!
@@GreenAcreHomestead Yes, but I see mixing concrete by hand as hard manual labor, not a learning experience. I wasn't suggesting that you hire someone to do the actual work for you. Only the method of getting the concrete. Order it, then have it pumped into each pier. Nothing to be gained by lifting 80 pound bags of concrete. But anyway, that is just my opinion.
Is this account still active?
Well, it is pink and this is October - breast cancer month…so, we ladies can take it to mean your support of breast cancer month. Works for me…😊
Measure your water.
MISSING YOU - no pressure, just wanted you to know.
Not to be morbid but with all the sawing mixing concrete the particulates will (not maybe) will get into your lungs migrate if to other organs especially your liver and kidneys every year have a liver panel and all the other organs I grew up in a smoking household i now have cirrhosis seed pockets in my pancreas and because of my cirrhosis my skin has a grey cast my esophagus is an open sore a small tumor on my liver and I developed a fib so for your future and your family’s use a good mask when you are working with these items and keep. Your wife and boys away when you are working with particultes
Your concrete is way too wet.
One step closer...get it?
step = foot = footer = foundation
Ok, that was terrible.
I could really feel the PIER pressure on this one! Hahaha
@@GreenAcreHomestead soon ya'll will be PILLARS of the community.
Sam, you know I love you guys but repeating the Samcraft stuff on the Green Acre channel is a bit much... I DO NOT know how you would separate them either but this content is probably best shown on the Green Acre channel since it's the entire land effect that involves the entire landscape...but let Sam do his Bidness stuff over there?? I KNOW its Sam's shop you're building but.... dey hain't together yet... Oh Heck .. Just repeat as necessary. Y'all know best.
