Took care of my mom at a young age and called 911 millions of times for her diabetic reactions/seizure. But the older I got I learned that if I can catch them earlier and see the signs in her then I can prevent the shaking uncontrollable and passing out. Even when I went to the open houses at the fire department in my town when I was older they would ask how my mom was doing. This was a good video!!! Extremely informative!!
Thanks Jared 😊. Yes , most firemen become in tune with the communities they serve and the patients in there first due. Great job helping your mom, the world needs more caregivers like you.
Good information to know. Might add that if you personally dialed 911 and alone, that you unlock the door in case you are unable to let them in on the EMTs arrival. You mentioned using a fast acting insulin instead of the desired slow acting situation. I have a pump and intended to input 1.5 unit of fast acting insulin but did not notice I entered 15 units! Fortunately I noticed the error before going to bed. Surprisingly I was not dropping fast. Did some quick calculations and ended up consuming about a quart of fruit juice and stayed awake until glucose levels started rising. Tip: Check the max bolus setting on your pump so that won't happen.
Great suggestion Dwight. 👌 I have my pump bolus max set to 5 units because I'm very sensitive to insulin. It's yelled at me a few time's for trying to accidentally go over it. 🙃
Thank God for emergency workers. Oddly enough, this video made me tear up. Thank you Ben.
Your very welcome David, your worth it.
Thank you for this info.
