Use black tea instead of water and also let the mixture sit for 2-8 hours...that way you’ll get better colour
My mum puts it on an iron Bowl over night. When you see it in the morning the dye is all released.
@@shivanisangal5521 You shouldn't use metal products in the mixing process as reacts with henna
@@spokoju8199 If it's pure henna it doesn't. It reacts when people mix up henna powder with other stuff like lemon so the dye release is darker. Otherwise there is no problem, we've been doing this for ages.
@Aneeshaif you don't mind can you please answer my questions please and thank you? Black tea like you make sweet tea? Do you and more hot water after letting it sit? Or just reheat so it can make your hair cuticle open up? also I saw some one say to add lemon to it as well to make it darker but not to put it in a metal bowl ? If mixed black tea and lemon will that help to make it darker? Sorry I've only used henna 1 time and that was in the 90's on Virginia Beach board walk at a little hippy salon ....so I don't really know how they did it, but it was a red henna not the blue indigo based like Nori and Brun. I'm planing on doing Brun 1st and then Nori as Erica said in another video it gives more depth to the color. Thank you :)
@@missfroghophophop6953 the idea behind black tea/coffee grounds is that the tannins might help with making it darker. unsweetened
For people wondering if this can be used for Dark hair , Yes . Here in India , we use it for dark hair which will leaves your grey hair burgundy shade which will fade away slowly. But it definetly will leave your hair a lot Healthier than you think. This is also proved to reduce your body heat .
Well yeah but white/gray hairs are still light, lighter than most blondes… The question is if it works on dark brown/black hair like mine
@@rachelfourie9083 Not much , Rachel. Under Sun , you can see a shade of burgundy over your black hair.
@@rachelfourie9083 I wouldn't say burgundy, brown or orange shade. I haven't seen anyone getting burgundy shade with henna unless mixed with indigo powder
@@rachelfourie9083 it depends on the quality of henna u use... Here in India we have fresh leaves which we pluck wash and grind! .. The color is naturally dark and lasts longer! 😃😃
U can add beetroot extract to the henna for a reddish tint or tea packs for more brown.. But these will yield subtle shades only not bright like a chemical based hair color
Just a tip here, you shouldn't mix henna with a metal spoon, use a wood one instead, also don't let it get dry, cover your head with some plastic bag you already have at home and re-use it 🖤 that's really important if you want the pigments to actually activate. I've been using henna for many years now and these are the main tips in order to get a good result, if not you'll just end up with a slightly change of color under the light. No matter if it's henna from lush or anywhere else, make sure the preparation process is well done, and let it sit for a a day where you made it before putting it on, at least let it cool down. Bear in mind that the more oils henna has in it, the less colorful will be at the end, it'll be more silky but the results will be less evident. Hope this helps!
Also henna it's messy and needs patience, so if you don't want to have the henna on for a couple of hours (minimum) just don't do it, because it'll be worthless.
Inkmagination if the henna is pure (no metallic salts) it’s totally okay to use a metal spoon/bowl when mixing. When you’re mixing your own henna you want it to sit for 4-12 hours for the dyes to release. I think lush henna has already had dye release, and that’s why you can use it immediately after you melt it. Totally agree with the covering of your hair though after application. Especially if you are going for more vibrant red tones, you have to keep the heat in while it is processing.
@@laurelschwartz8577 I didn't know that about lush henna, thanks for the information 👌
Its weird she uses a metal bowl in her instruction why? Is'nt she tryng to learn people something first thing I remember after years not to do is using a metal spoon!
@@thewordoftheworld it’s fine to use with Lush or any henna that doesn’t contain metallic salts
Two words... cheese grater...grate your henna block... it mixes so much easier and smoother and also starts warming it up and activating the dye process so you dont have to leave it as long 💚
exactly what I was thinking..
I know this comment is from 3 years ago but you just changed my life, cheese grater made it so much easier
When applying henna, you should wait 2-4 hours, then wash it with just water! Because henna tends to make the hair drier, so shampoo will make it extra dry! What I do is wash it with water only, then the next day I apply any kind of oil on my hair then wash it with shampoo. In my arab culture we usually do this method. Also you should let the henna sit after you apply water to it for 1-2 hours before applying it your hair.
never wash out with shampoo! just rinse with water, otherwise you wont get a good fixation of the henna, you can shampoo after 24 h the soonest. Also its very good to put the henna on the scalp it conditions it and gives it a very soothing and amazing feeling. Also apply in freshly washed damp hair for best results.
I would've loved to have seen the presenter put henna on her hair. It would've been the coolest color comparison.
This lady is just beautiful on the inside and out
aw you're so sweet! xoErica
We must have watched different videos
She is!

True she was fun to watch 👍💜
Why am I watching this, I don't even dye my hair
@Emily L true
Same
Because it’s not just for dying , henna is a treatment for hair
I do but I dye it WHITE.
I did this with the red one on my dark brown hair that has a grey, dusty sheen, and it worked for me! Not that it was fiery red, but definitely more red and a warm glow. Also a lot healthier. Liked it!
We ❤️ hearing this!
I have psoriatic arthritis and this cured the plaque psoriasis on my scalp.
Sarah R. hi! i saw your comment and i was wondering if I could ask you some questions about it? my aunt has psoriatic arthritis as well, and she loves to dye her hair but the chemicals in traditional hair dye do bother her scalp. would it be okay if i asked you a couple questions about your experience using this product?
Olivia Coleman of course! I’ll do my best to answer any questions she has.
thanks so much for getting back to me! so my aunt does say that she gets plaque psoriasis on her scalp, and when she dyes her hair with traditional dyes it does burn. with you using henna, what was that like? did it alleviate the pain you experienced with that? and did it get better?
Olivia Coleman I had no idea that I even had psoriasis until I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis last year. But I've been using henna for years as my natural red hair faded with time, and I was against traditional dyes myself. The "bad dandruff" (your aunt will know just how bad) that I struggled with for years was healed after one use. The itch comes back right on time for me to touch up, it's a little messy, so don't wear clothes you like, do it in a room like a bathroom, it can be messy but gets better with practice. One of the reasons I pick lush is the intense scent lush protects have. Henna can smell like hay. Straight up hay. But it's totally worth the medicinal benefits. Good luck to your aunt, and help her, I can't do it alone with these elbows.
Sarah R. thank you so much for telling me all of this! this will really help her out. thank you so very much and i hope things are good for you! have a wonderful day! ❤️❤️❤️
I appreciated seeing you use it on dark hair and light hair. It's nice to actually see the range
I could listen to this lovely lady all day long, her voice is so calming!
The redish/orange shade looked absolutely great on her!!!
Omg her hair cut with the bangs is so cute. She looks like a lil fairy. So pretty
As a hairstylist if you ever want to go lighter or darker and you have henna or box dye that has metallic salts, it is not safe to do a color service on you! The chemical reactions that occur from henna and other kinds of box dyes that contain metallic salts can seriously harm your skin and hair! No one wants to start smoking in the salon so please! Be honest to your stylist about your hair history and they can find the right service for you!
I use the rouge henna on my hair about every 6-8 weeks and I have light brown hair so fortunately it does not turn out brassy. I also leave mine on WAY longer than recommended (usually 8-12 hours) and it leaves a BEAUTIFUL deep natural-looking red. But not everyone wants to commit to 8-12 hours of having a poop-like substance all over your head! Regardless, I love this henna and I can see myself using it for many years to come.
I put it on before I sleep sometimes. Wrap it in a plastic shower cap and a hair scarf. I lay an old towel over my pillow. That way I'm unconscious so I don't think about the mud in my hair. The longer you leave it on, the richer the color gets. But 1-2 hours is also plenty time to get a nice color.
Hi are you applying on damp hair or dry hair ?
@@alymiaow I've always done it on dry hair
If you have type 4 hair, since the products is really grainy, I suggest blending it to get extra chunks out. Also a really foamy shampoo helps to get the grains out.
Even if u don't see much diff my hair is so much healthier since I don't use box anymore.
It's thicker and when the Grey's come in it's tonal instead of a line u get with box dye.
Also over time layering gets better and colour gets stronger
Finally! I’ve been waiting for this!
I lovvvvve Erica’s hairdo when she was putting the henna on 😍😍😍
thank you! xoErica
I am hype to find this. Been doing henna for 10yrs but the application was always a mess, but seeing the tip of starting on top, heck yes!
OMG I love Erica!!! She seems like a fun person to be around, so every time I see a video with her in it I just have to watch.
Thank you!
I’m like 100% sure everyone who works at lush is a fun person to be around. They don’t hire boring people 😂😂
Angelica Login true! Lol
So glad you guys posted this, I've been on the fence about trying the henna dye for a while this video just convinced me.
Dont use metal !
I've been using Lush henna for 3-4 years, I love it!
Denise Sheppard do you use a while bar, at one time?
How do you retouch your roots?
Oh my god but they don't tell u that if you bleach your hair at all on top of the henna that your hair will fall out. SUUUPPER IMPORTANT to note.
Ugh Erica I’m obsessed with you ❤️✨
I love Henna Marron, used it a couple of times now. What i do is to not used shampoo to wash it out, i use conditioner. Sounds weird but it kinda helps to „carry“ out the cocoa butter.
I wish I could get some one to do it for me!!!
Excellent presentation
I tried the Brun, came out great. I used a funnel to put the henna in a squeeze bottle to apply it, much easier and way less messy.
I tried and it didn’t color my hair. I would say I only see 20% change in color on grey hairs. Does it take 2 days to show color?
I'll try your squeezy bottle tip. Struggled with it today as my daughter nicked my colouring brushes!
Her voice is so calming
My advice would be to cut the henna into small chunks and then grind them, whether manually or with a processor. I used a NutriBullet. Saves a lot of time and makes the mixture very smooth.
ty freddie, the goat fr
I used henna for years. The problem is you have to grown it out completely before you can use conventional colour. It coats the hair very thoroughly. Nothing will take over the top of it.
I would recommend doing a strand test. My hair was blonde like the 2nd woman, and it went really ginger, such a vibrant and bright colour with an equal mix of the rouge and marron henna bars, nothing like her colour- so it must be different on everyone. I love my colour :) it took a good hour to rinse out and was a messy process (don't use a white towel for the first few washes!!!) But I love it x
About to use the lush henna a second time with the Brun instead of Marron. (Experimenting). I made a HUGE mess in my kitchen last time, didn’t get the right consistency first and was crying for my daughter to come help. Felt like it was a disaster but my hair turned out really nice. I have thin, straight hair. It looked amazing and shiny after. Not looking forward to the mess that awaits me but am looking forward to seeing the end result!
I really wanted to love it but it's not for me. It was messy and took hours. I wish they could make a pre-mixed color.
It's prob cuz it would be a massive bottle if pre made and also I guess they are trying to avoid plastic but it does look like a hassle
I used to when i was a kid buy a henna treatment didnt release it coloured ur hair would have been nine ten but u can buy it already done just put ot on
@@JustCardsBySara I've seen it before but I don't think it's cruelty free and I prefer to buy from Lush. Thank you though!
Same. I absolutely hated it. Eventually I was so frustrated and done with everything (tears were shed!) I said fuck it and rinsed it out. Washed my hair about 5 times and used half a bottle of conditioner.
Michelle the unfortunate thing about natural and some chemical hair dyes is they take a while. Even if you went to a salon it would probably be a bit.
Host: you have lovely hair, the cut works well for you and you seem like a great person too!
I was about to order the Noir block until i saw the melting warning. It’s 90+ in the Southeastern US rn so looks like I have to wait a month or drive 2 hours to a Lush. Still excited though. I’m tired of my hair feeling like trash after a dye and then fading 2 weeks in.
She is so refreshing 💙
So helpful, think I’ll give it a go thanks 😁
We have been using henna for centuries it has benefits beyond just colour it's used to reduce body heat and as a conditioning agent we DO NOT mix it with butter or oil but yes to enhance colour coffee powder or black tea and other herbs are added for conditioning egg or fenugreek seeds are crushed and added it gives an orange hue to whites so for black use indigo powder once you're done with the henna
I wish Lush would grate the henna and sell it in refillable pots. I grate mine (or chop it up and then use a coffee grinder) and it is cuts down on the application time and mess so much! Please Lush, make a grated version!
madebysami my family sell henna and it’s not block
They look so amazing with the henna!!! I heard that it's safer to use henna every 3-6 months. Although it is natural and healthy, overdoing anything can have negative results, and too much protein can actually cause hair loss if used consistently more often than every 3-6 months. It would be sad for someone to give up on conditioning and coloring with henna just because she did it too often, and her hair started breaking from the overload. Moderation in all things! ;) Great results! Those colors really do suit those girls so well!!! And, henna will become deeper with every application. :)
I love you Erica!!!! Can we talk about the new solid serums and naked cleansing balms next!?
If it colors everything how do you wash it out without ruining your shower stall? Should it only be washed out it a metal sink?
Hair colored from henna is beautiful even on darkest hair like mine 👍🏻
Am i the only one who loved the voice of the hairdresser?
The Hungarian shirt by the narrator was delightful! I loved their hair ❤
How long does the henna color last on gray hair?
Henna is the best!
i have naturally red hair but i want a change, do u raccomend it to me?
Great video! Erica is an excellent presenter.
Can you dye a whole head with a half block of the Lush rouge henna? I have medium length, mousy-brown hair, going for a bit of a change.
I plan on going back to henna, my hair was so much better off before I used “pro grade” tubes, so much so that my hair grew like a jungle combined with the tlc of coconut oil. Just a suggestion use glass, plastic, or even a stone bowl so the henna doesn’t oxidize.
Emilia Ramos how does a jungle grow?
Is it better to apply the henna on clean washed hair or is it better to do it when the hair is a bit dirtier and oily?
I love Lush rouge henna
Omg, this looks bomb 🔥
I put mine in a blender and pour the boiling water in there with it. It breaks it down and melts it fast. Then just scoop it out! If there's a bunch left in the blender, you can put a little water in, blend it again, then pour it out. If you mix the watery stuff in and let it cool a little, it gets thick again.
Holy shit, I have seen you do Lush vids for a few years and I gotta say, your greys are GORGEOUS. hot damn
I thought henna covered grey hair?
Thank you so much! My hair is almost the exact same color as Jacinta’s and it’s virgin hair too! This was so helpful!
is the cocoa butter bad for your plumbing? I want to try this but this is my one concern
I got Heena plant at home. I use fresh leaves.
I have always eanted to ask. Are there many color options or do you have to stick to just a couple of choices?
Hey there! We have 4 different options right now. You can check them out here: www.lushusa.com/hair/henna-hair-dyes/
Can you mix Brun with Noir to make a darker brown?
I user Brun henna (I followed the instructions) but there was no difference after using it. Can you please tell me what went wrong? Thanks!
Awesome ❤
Got henna from a local Indian grocery store today. Will try😊
I do henna hair dye at home. Is it cool to mix Lush henna and indigo?
Can I use hina to my hair white karatin straight?
I literally just bought my henna the other day
noebear97 how did it go?
can we mix two different hennas? like the brown with the black?
Will henna cover greys?
Does anyone know which one of the four types of henna was used on the second girl?🤗
Bought Henna Noir lately and was suuuuuper excited to finally get black hair! It turned out terrible ... I used the whole big block, did everything as said in the instructions ... I saw literally no effect. My hair still was the same color as before .. Only the hair felt super soft ...
DeaSiiri I think it’s more of a natural alternative to the terrible hair dye that kills your hair with the alcohol and stuff. So of course it’s not going to be as harsh of an affect like regular dye! :)
@@daniellemartinez9839 yeah i know, this was the reason I bought henna :D but I bought the darkest shade of them (black) and my hair didn't even get darker .. nothing. That's what bothers me the most. That you haven't seen anything
The best way is to let it sit very long and to NEVER use henna on already colored hair with regular dye
@@dupontlai4241 I thought 3,5 hours was enough 🙃 I had regular dye in the tips of my hair, but not in the roots. Still no colour.
@@deasiiri1824 at least now you know cocoa butter makes your hair soft haha. In my country we use a lot of henna and we usually let it sit all night.
I have brown hair... how can I make my hair blond and then use henna without bad reactions?
I feel like this on works if your hair is light . Couldn’t see the difference in the first
i have a question for anyone out there that's a redhead like myself. is there henna's for red hair?? i'm just wondering and i'm curious to know thanks``Lily.
Does this work for grey hair?
Used the caca brun twice, didn’t work either times!!
This stuff is pretty messy but it didn’t stain like I was afraid it would. I used Marron the first time and left it on for 4 hours with a plastic processing cap over it. It completely covered my grays (turned them an intense auburn color that was slightly lighter than my other hair). I’m using Brun this time around. I think the most difficult part for me is washing out after. That stuff gets EVERYWHERE and it takes 3-4 washes to get all the coffee grounds rinsed out.
Did you left the henna to rest some time before applying it to the hair? I did everything like instructions said, but I saw no difference after 2 hours in my hair colour.
at the end after the hair transformation, Nicole kinda reminded me of the character drew Barrymore played in Charlie's angels...just for a split second when she did certain a movement or facial expression lol
You are soo cuteeeee😍
Will it cover grey hair? I was hoping that you try it on yourself...
Bột henna mua ơ đầu vậy bạn?
Unfortunately in Germany the lush-henna comes without any instructions. As i bought mine in sore the “henna-sells-person” didn’t know how to use it at all and for every question i had that person referred said “check online”. As I asked how should I prevent the henna from staining my skin and I specially asked if there was a product to prevent this from happening he/ she said i didn’t need anything and that the henna form lush wasn’t going to stain my skin 🤔
Lush henna doesn't stain the skin at all, it's a little annoying but washes off with soap 😊
That looks like a gigantic block of hash to me
Instead of using a knife to break the bar apart, put it in the microwave in a microwave-safe bowl for 30 seconds to one minute. That will soften the bar up and you can easily break it apart by hand or with a spoon.
I honestly always had such a hard time selling this. Takes too long and it stays forever so if you go to the salon hairdressers won’t be able to properly remove it.
When will lush henna dye be back on sale please ? Thanks 🙏🏻
do you need to do patch test can you have a reaction to henna
Hey there! We recommend doing a strand test to see if the final colour following the henna is the colour that you want. ❤️
Has Lush henna gone through dye release or does the customer have to wait a couple of hours for dye release prior to applying to the hair?
Hey there! You don't have to wait a while. Once the henna has been melted down, let it cool down just enough so it's not too hot to put into your hair and start applying!
@@LUSH Thanks for replying.
Do yourself a favour and make henna mix yourself. Lush mix is sooo heavy and difficult to rinse because of all the butter it has in it. I started with this one and hated it, then I just bought 100% henna powder (lawsonia inermis) and mixed it a tablespoon of sour agent (lemon juice, apple cider vinegar or amla powder) and water, then I leave it for 8-12 hours for the colour to develop. I also add ground fenugreek and other herbs for extra care for my hair and scalp. Seriously so much better and faster to rinse out. After I finished Lush product I started to like applying and rinsing henna on/from my hair :)
I have dark hair. Would the black / blue dye show up even if I don’t bleach my hair?
Yeah a bit under the sun
Hi Chris! Henna has a more difficult time attaching to darker hair but it also depends on how porous your strands are. We always recommend to do a strand test first to get an idea of how it may turn out for you. 💟
Does it cover greys???
Hi love! Our hennas do cover greys however it is a bit of a longer process. We would recommend using our Rouge henna first as the red base will cover the greys the best. If you would like to opt for a darker color such as the Brun or Noir you could then apply this after you have washed out the Rouge. For a more in-depth answer feel free to check out some of our henna information: www.lushusa.com/article_lush-henna-faq.html ❤️️
Henna is really good for people that don't change the color of their hair because there is no way to get henna out it does NOT fade the only way to get rid of it is by cutting off the henna
Is this product safe for use while breastfeeding?
I used this today, and it didn't take to my hair. My hair is ginger from another henna product and I tried to go brun. Didn't take at all.
Is this caca marron that was used on the blonde lady?
Does this totally change your hair color forever, the way that regular dye does?
It changes it forever you cant take it off also with bleach
Its not bleach but if you have black hair it gets brownish black or Greyish black but blonde brunettes have lasting color changes.
@@Liztastaney7 it never comes off
Hi love! Our henna's are semi-permanent meaning they'll fade over time and how quickly that happens depends on the aftercare. 💞
