The stealing assets drama is resolved for now, the creator gave me credit now.
He did take long enough for his level to be reported to robtob via mods through my friends (which i wasnt online to see when it happened), so it might be taken down anyways, but for now it seems to have been resolved.

This whole thing about copy levels made me thinks about two nine circles themed levels : semicircles and butterfly effect. I don't know if I am the only one to have seen this but they both have the same gameplay and song but the colors are different sooo yeah, let me know what you think about !

There are many rated levels that use Mathi's decoration in Dash Full Version and it has rate. There is no problem with them using it for their levels, but if Dash Full was not rated, and and someone comes and uses their Deco, and their level is featured, it seems somewhat unfair to me.

I'd say it's allowed since everything is shared for the community and free for everyone to use. It's just if you're going to use or recreate it, write down the credit like *inspired by* or something if you do implement it to your level. Of course keeping track on who made what will be difficult without proper implementation on who made what assets and can be easily be confused as someone elses assets. At the core it's basically all RobTop's assets and the creators are just using his assets into a new unique look for a better and fresh visuals.

My idea is a shop where people could buy assets/presets with orbs or diamonds from robtop or other people. That would be soooooo coool!
yes and then upload it to the gd servers where anyone can just copy it and use it without paying and therefore completely removing the purpose of the idea in the first place

I'd say probably make them cost diamonds, and then make the premade assets just cost 100-300 diamonds, that way it's not that expensive, but still costs something. But anyway, this idea is really cool, and I think it could be cool to be able to buy trigger presets like special pulses and also potentially stuff like Clubstep monsters or cool looking custom pixel objects.

In an older version of the game, there was a warning you got before uploading a level, saying that by uploading levels to the server, you give any and all rights to everyone, or something like that. Now with everything free to copy, I think that "stolen" assets or bd is unjustifyable, but I can see how if you spent hours, days, weeks, or months I wouldn't want anyone to take it either.
It’s been the same thing since 1.0 and says that you hand over all rights to “the creators of Geometry Dash” - creators as in RobTop, as copying was only added in 1.7

Depends on who you ask. Personally I'd say yoinking smaller assets for use in your own level is totally fine as probably not even the original creator would notice it. Yoinking large parts and using them yourself is where I'd draw the line of not ok.
Funny thing about that level that stole Montro's object, it is very easy to softlock yourself in it, I had to do the level like 3 times over from the beginning before I finally got passed all of the places where you can softlock yourself

Doesn't sound too hard to add a watermark feature that reads the name of a creator while in the editor of their level and every custom object saved in that level would put the creator's name in the top left (similar to the "testmode" text for 2.1 startposes)
Disabled for your own levels. And the amount of copies is shown so you don't bypass it (3+ copies for a solo)

Taking inspiration from other levels or seeing how it works is completely justifiable. Heck if you really wanted to and as long as it’s not a main element just rip it out and recolor it. Personally if it’s a bg thing your fine, if it’s the main focus point then be cautious for ripping off

Absolutely not. I feel like stealing just makes your level overall lose value and its authenticity. I wouldn't unrate levels over it, but it's not a cool thing to do especially if the person you're stealing from is completely unaware.

You can just sell your presets on online shopping platforms and make money from creating stuffs that usually take time to build. It is like a patent. In order to make that you should never post your level on public on youtube or in game before you alredy selled your own stuff. Only after a good amount of sell you can surely publish your level thereby letting people steal your inventions. The more complicated the idea is, the higher price of it is - just imagine if Switchstep would have sold the prototype of boss from Explorers to someone outside. And provided you have a high popularity, selling your own creations will never put your level at risk, because people who purchased for your creation probably don't have the same level of fame as you and nobody will notice that you sold something to someone.

I’m making a level right now and I saw on a different level someone made a rubber duck I like that rubber duck so I grabbed it and put it in my level but I felt bad for stealing it so basically I re-created it I can’t tell if that stealing or not
i mean the tower levels are mostly there for inspiration so dont mind to copy a thing or two from them. just dont copy the entire thing and change one object.
Honestly copying from robtop is completely fine if you want a feature that your level doesn’t have

I think taking assets from other levels is perfectly fine, as long as you credit the original creator.

Saying stealing is a bit dumb. Robtop made his levels to encourage and show what his vision of a good level. And honestly if you spend hours on a level and take ONE thing from another level then you shouldn’t be getting unrated for that :/
