      Knocking people out is harder than it looks in real life. And again, taking prisoners would only slow them down (all the Jaegerists had to be eliminated).
      Armin has already caused the deaths of hundreds if not thousands of people by blowing up the port of Liberio when he shifted into titan form.
      Thematically, it was Connie's turn to get his hands dirty. Connie was already prepared to feed Falco to his mother just a few eps ago until Armin stopped him but Connie realized he couldn't just keep expecting Armin to take on all the burden of spilling blood.

    The part where Armin says he 'refuses to stand by with clean hands' after Magath bows to them while apologizing for his past behavior and ideals that lead to all this sensless bloodshed is such an incredible scene and peak to these character arches. Armin and friends in that moment decided to side with their former enemy and take action against their closest friends and comrades for the sake of saving all their lives and the lives of their families. It was really instant vindication for Magath's vulnerability and humility. He treated them with respect and dignity in that moment, and in that moment there was hope for a peaceful future. Hope that others around the world could have the same change of heart and all this 'sensless bloodshed' wouldnt be for nothing.
    The cherry in top is Magath looking up in astonishment as Arm says this. He's a man who's been forgiven by people he's unforgivably wronged.
    Its quite moments of severe, desicive courage like this that make me love this series so much.

      He is betraying the Scouts for actually saving the whole world.
      Reiner and Bertholdt are just selfish beings who went there especially to kill people. Besides, Armin resorted to good ways and still managed to device a plan to not kill anyone. Bertholdt straightup two conditions were 1. We want Eren 2. We want death of everyone inside the walls.

Not to mention Reiner suggesting that they stay safe with Gabi and Falco while him and Annie do the dirty work. They both still care for their 104th comrades and are clearly filled with remorse and shame for what they've done. They're fantastic characters and, in my opinion, have been redeemed well.

AOT portrays human nature perfectly and how it cannot be allowed to exist as that's why eren is doing the rumbling

    This episode is saying some actions you have to take despite inclusion of group identities and personal relationships. Even if you are Eldian, have to stop other Eldians from taking messed up actions. Even if you are Marleyan, have to go again official word to make own decisions. It shows how difficult it is and there are costs to do this. Again, AOT is a reflection of current Japan's relationships with certain countries.
    Magath asking to forget is a common thing that gets brought up in Japan/ China/Korea relations. Some people recognize the false history in their countries and are on online boards apologizing for the anti-Japan rhetoric. It goes something like "I realize now the fake history that was taught to us, and yes we have used it to demonstrate our dislike/hatred of Japanese people, but Japanese people please forget about it to build future relations with us, to move forward" What Isayama is saying is "no Japanese people, we can't forget because it would lead to a repeat of the same thing, where convenient, the hatred drums will be drummed up again in the future." And to the apologizing people, Isayama is saying can't talk about justice without getting your hands dirty. Go actually take action on it not just ask Japanese people to move forward.

      You don't really understand.
      The Japanese atrocities taught to these people was maybe exaggerated, but it was true, Unit 731, Bataan Death March, Manila Massacre etc. all of it we're true. But is it truly justice to pass this hatred to people who weren't even born when this happened. Learn from history. No side is truly clean, even Filipinos during WW2 became vengeful when we they were invaded.

    • @kagenoshinobimono
      @kagenoshinobimono 2 года назад +3

      I think we are saying the same thing. I'm not here to excuse Japanese for crimes committed. However, those that committed the crimes have nothing to do with their descendants. Unfortunately this is not an universal view. There are countries where descendants are punished for ancestors' crimes. People get punishments and penalties unrelated to own actions. The reverse is also true in these countries, that descendants of heroes in the past are treated with privilege. People get praise and benefits unrelated to own actions.
      Countries like that want other countries to do the same, for descendants to atone for actions ancestors have done, especially when they can create a victim narrative. They are also obviously quiet when the same logic can be applied to them (example: Lai Dai Han). (There are also many other reasons why hatred to Japanese is convenient for them, such as security reasons, economic reasons political reasons, cultural reasons etc.) They create propaganda that is light on evidence, or that is selective, or that is exaggerated, or that removing other's part only as aggressor/perpetrator or that remove own part in history except as victim. They educate their young to these views. Some actually check the evidence and learn the fake history.
      Many make the assumption that since many things are fake, all things are fake, which is also not true. But they at the same time recognize effect of the fake education on their views and want to reframe the relationship. Many appear online and act like I wrote above. Isayama is trying to teach Japanese people can't reframe relationship while propaganda education is going on.

      I think people are kinda forgetting why some are with the scouts and everyone else joined the Jaegerists. The Survey core is still officially in charge of the island military wise since they are sanctioned by the Queen. Everyone currently in the scouts believes in the chain of command so obviously that's why they haven't defected to the Jaegerist even if they agree with their ideals which I'm sure a few do. The Jaegerists are an unsanctioned military group that has the support of most of the island. The Jaegerists main goal is destroying Marley with the other countries being collateral damage. Marley is the country that has been sending titans to paradise for 100 years and therefore killing eldians. So of course most people on the island will become Jaegerists, they want to destroy the country who has been tormenting them for 100 years.

    so many people have been hating on armin and connie and the alliance in general, calling themselves yeagerists and i understand why. we started the story the same as the eldians on paradise and its easy to see how eren got to where he is. to protect the island, his people, and his loved ones he is willing to destroy the world (at least thats what we understand thus far, we need to hear more from him still). But hange said it perfectly, “genocide is wrong and i’ll be dammed if we somehow justify it” you could tell it wqs hard for her to say that because their freedom is what they have been working towards the entire series, but it shouldn’t be like this, at this price. thats why they are trying to stop eren. this show is about showing people how easy it is to get caught up in killing and blaming while the innocent suffer. no one is right, no one is wrong. as armin explained in season one there are no “good people or bad people, just people who are good for you” and that can change as we see with armin and connie vs daz and samuel. they didn’t have time to talk with them (as marco reminds us should always be an option). and had no choice but to kill them if it ment saving billions innocent lives. which is exactly how berthold felt. no ones hands are clean, no one wants to kill or be killed. just people with different views on what is right and what is worth fighting for.

      @signediaz2469 2 года назад

      @Weyland Punani i tried to break it down to the best of my ability. comparing armin and connie to bertholdt in season 1. the entire story is ment to represent the atrocities of war and how it turns people against eachother, how things don’t get talked out, and why people end up suffering. i explained some of my stance on the matter that i personally dont believe freedom should come at the price of billions of innocent lives but dont let my stance retract from the point of my comment, there isnt a right or wrong just different people fighting for what they believe in and what they think is the right thing to do whether for them, for their families, for their fallen comrades, for the world, for those they don’t know, for those they want to protect, ect. please take my opinion on the matter with a grain if salt as obviously i would find my own beliefs and feelings about the situation as most fans have, but that doesnt mean i don’t understand other fans. heck it took me a while to even make my own peace with it and who lbows how ill feel when it ends, or 10 years from now. that is the point. so whats so disgusting and hypocritical about breaking down a show, understanding it, and including my own feelings about it?

    It's my personal headcanon that the consciousness transfer ability is something only the Armored Titan is capable of since no one mentions it afterwards and Pieck holds a gun to Eren's head, which implies that a headshot is lethal to a Titan Shifter. It also adds to the irony of Reiner never being able to die.
    (Reiner also puts a rifle to his mouth which supports the headcanon. I wonder if he actually would've succeeded in killing himself. I think it has some form of long-term consequence considering Berthold's words of it being a desperate last-resort)

    what I think changed his mind was seeing that someone like gabi who was brainwashed into hating paradise eldians, whose friends were killed during raid on liberio by them, who hated them from bottom of her heart. If someone like her, whom he knew for a long time, a child can let go of her hatred and is ready to beg for life of her family and friends who is he to let his ego stop him from doing the same. also the fact she was her fav among candidates does help this.
    seeing someone you know change into something you did not think was possible for them can give one a lot of determination either for better or for worse.

We know that the fact that the war has been brought to Paradis, he's going to retaliate, but he'd be/been killing innocent people who don't have anything to do with it. That's why the alliance is trying to stop them. Genocide is wrong no matter how you try to justify it. The only thing I can actually get at is that the Rumbling will prevent any future enemies from coming after them; the Rumbling is a permanent solution, though very, very rash.

Yes, the same thing was done to them, but this time, there are people who are going to try to stop the killing of innocents. Eren is literally going to stomp on everyone in his path, whether they have made plans to attack Paradis in the 1st place, or not. Marley shouldn't have destroyed the walls in Shiganshina, at all. That's the whole reason the Rumbling is taking place. Funny how what they were trying to prevent, happened because they acted when they didn't even need to. Because the people in the walls didn't even KNOW about outside life. But then again, Grisha came and gave the SNK/Founding to Eren, and we know who Eren is, so ig it was inevitable anyway? For years, since nobody came up with a solution opposed to the Rumbling, Eren saw he had no other choice. Except, his friends don't want their safety to be at the demise of innocent others. Though they've killed plenty themselves, that was before the Rumbling. But, realistically, we know Eren isn't going to fall for their tnj. Zeke's euthanization plan was more temporary. Eren's is worse. As for another solution, maybe wipe everyone's memories like the King? (no manga sps)
