Heard this track for the first time when I was driving in the middle of the Kakadu National Park in Australia. The part around 1:44 kicked in as I was crossing the bridge over the South Alligator River. I turned my head and I saw the most unreal sunset, all purple, pink and crimson, reflected in the waters of the river. I had to stop the car. get out, walk and somehow let the experience sink in, as I felt completely overwhelmed by the music. It was one of the most beautiful moments of my life.

There’s nothing in the world quite like kakadu National park. I was lucky to go on an eco tour with Bruce from Armidale and I swear to god I was listening to this same exact song while watching the sun rise. Man, good times indeed

Had a similar experience with a different song, where things matched up perfectly:
I was listening to the Gorillaz song Lake Zurich on a plane and it was the first plane I had been on in roughly eight years, so I was more than a little nervous. Anyway, as the song is building up at the beginning, the plane starts down the tarmac, going faster and faster, when suddenly, as the song breaks, we take off.
Synced fucking perfectly I swear to God. As someone who loves Baby Driver, I was so glad to have experienced that.

When I was a child, my mother introduced me to music of all kinds at a very early age.
When she was pregnant she listened a lot to Board of Canada.
Years later, when I was 6 or 7 years old, my mother moved house and found some Board of Canada CDs.
When I listened to them I had this feeling that I had never forgotten the music of Board of Canada and that it was part of me.
This sound is a perfect example of that.
    I'm nearly 19 and I'm grateful.
Thanks to my mother and Board of Canada for existing.

      Awesome Mother! ❤
So exactly what you explain has been proven in scientific studies. Starting around the age of 3 children have been proven to show an affinity to certain music which was played when they were in the womb(specifically "sweeter" melodies and rhythms which tend to occur in classical music but also this song).
I read this in the book This Is Your Brain On Music, there is also a bunch of documentaries on the book by the same name.
To be clear I am not talking about any IQ increase but strictly that children positively identify and trend towards these songs.

Consider yourself lucky, I've only discovered this music act in my late teens based on public recommendations but I already dig their style. Reminds me of a certain artist I used to listen back in middle school. Who also specializes in producing melodic & lo-fi (mostly instrumental) electronic music

I'm sure many won't get the connection, so.... The more famous RUclips video with this song is ruclips.net/video/ES02mWIJ2Tk/видео.html&ab_channel=icannotfly which was Felix Baumgartner's highest space jump (and supersonic freefall, sponsored by Red bull) in 2012, which beat Kittinger's previous (afaik only other space freefall) record in 102,800 feet-from 1960. One reason to find a different non-music video of Bauggartner's fall is that for a long while his facemask was completely clouded and he's just falling without control for several terrifying minutes. Imagine falling uncontrollably in low oxygen high altitude environment, but you know you're parachute must deploy successfully within 10 minutes or SPLAT! Both men (and their teams) deserve out utmost respect. [EDIT]apparently Alan Eustace broke the record two years later. I'm surprised I didn't hear of it sooner.

This cool video boys and girls is historic footage of Col Joe Kittinger's (USAF) record setting parachute jump from space during Project Excelsior, a program to establish very high altitude emergency bailout procedures for astronauts. This was 1960, the altitude- 102,800'! (about 19 miles high). He free fell for 4 1/2 minutes! down to 18,000' where he deployed his chute. He was the fastest man alive without propulsion at 614 mph! He's still around to this day. An American Hero.
I couldn't think of a better tune than this hit from BOC for this video.

It‘s also in an interesting tuning, for anyone interested. Strings from thinnest (1) to thickest (6)
      1:F#
      2:C#
3:F# (octave lower than 1st string)
4:C# (octave lower than 2nd string)
      5:A
      6:E
You play the 5th and 6th strings together as the root and 5th of the chords mentioned by the OP (frets 2/4 for F#, 5/7 for A, 0/2 for E and 5/7 for B) and strum strings 1-4 open the whole time. Just add tremolo and it‘s all there! Have fun!

Thank you Warp, for leaving comments open.
I remember when this was released. I was delirious that BoC were using guitars and drums without significant filtering or processing. That was *so* unexpected to hear recognizable instruments, arrangements and rhythms.
What can be said about Dayvan that hasn't been said? Ethereal? Grounded? Majestic? Common? Layered? Stark? It's all these things together and so utterly wonderful. Replay value is off the charts. And it's a wonderful test track for audio equipment. Bless Col. Kittinger for his gigantic brass huevos in making the jump recorded here. And whoever had edited this? Chef's kiss. The jump off the platform @0:23 as the percussion comes in. The freefall to the pad swells. The breakthrough of the clouds in the rays of sun as the guitar enters @1:43. Hitting the water @2:17 when the string arrangement cuts in. Every accent in the song coincides with a unique, surreal (yet familiar) image. Perfect BoC: making something unique feel like it happened every day in a childhood you never had.

Little story: July 18, 2007, my internet connection arrived in my house. I'm 14 and a half and it was wonderful. Google was fabulous and exciting. It was a great day when my brother finally told me: "aaah it's good it works !!" with the long awaited Google page. We spent the afternoon researching obscure UFO, alien, astronomy blogs to read this. It was facinating. Then in the evening I wanted to listen to music, it was the only thing that mattered to me. I type RUclips and I click. I type Evanescence Sweet sacrifice and I sing in front of my PC. I go back to stumble upon that gray search bar because I didn't know what else to listen to and all the videos centered one by one. I see a weird thumbnail with blue and black and I click on this unknown piece. It was so fucking beautiful. I wanted to jump out of that parachute and dive into those waves. This sound was new to me, I who had grown up with Britney Spears and pop music radio had just discovered a group that translated what I felt deep inside me: a desire for deep freedom and deep sadness. The old videos comforted me on summer nights. I really got into something and since then this group has marked me. It is Timeless and so are their works. Nothing has changed since I clicked on Dayvan Cowboy, the same thumbnail. I cry from nostalgia.
