1988 Chevrolet Silverado r20 Crew Cab 3+3 350 sm465 4 speed manual 4x2 truck Moving a 12x70ft Mobile Home Instead of being pre squatted its post squatted.
*CRAIGSLIST ADD:* Forsale... Gently used 88 Chevy truck driven by my grandfather. Might need clutch and rear shocks soon! Never towed with, babied since day one🙄
Chevy 454 with granny used to be a beast! I saw my grandad drive down a muddy road! Turn around! Hook up to my uncles ford 250 4x4 also with granny! AND HE WAS STUCK! Pull him out! All in 2wd! Never forget it! Wish camera phones was out back then
I thought only my people did things like this. It's no coincidence that they're using an old school Chevy truck. Those old trucks will pull and haul whatever you hook up to it. Before the video started, I'm sure the driver said, "You need that trailer moved? Hold my beer!"
People say their Duramax or Turbo Cummins can do so much more than a 454 Big Block Chevy but here we have not even a 454 it's a 350 which is definitely more reliable but less power and it's pulling a damn house! A small block pulling more than a Cummins or a Duramax - and people wonder why I prefer the squarebody
For rural roads and such, sbc and crew cab gets the job done. Nothing like the Duramax, Cummins, or Powerstroke going up hills or on long trip down freeways....need a 454. But the hell with fixing them diesels when things break. With a sbc, they are the easiest thing to work on.
Those square bodies had dual 20 (or 16) gallon tanks that you have to fill up on each side unlike the Fords duals on the same side. If you're in a hurry and don't fill both sides you're back at the gas station tomorrow lmao.
Stop cryin' everyone, square bodys are a dime a dozen and they can handle this type of work no problem, they are chevys from a time trucks were built to last.
Same here in Indiana as far as rust, my k20 has a rust hole in the frame the size of a quarter, I'm just saying this guy ain't gonna hurt the truck by using is for work like today's bs, and if he did hes not going to hurt the market of 73-87 chevy pick ups, parts are cheap
Iv seen many things on youtube, but for some reason this is the most satisfying. And its not even 4wd! Btw, I really hope your junking that trailer haha.
Gotta love a square Chevy. I would love to own a 87-91 k-5 blazer that wasn’t rusted to the core but when you find one that ain’t, you’ll pay big cash for it around where I live.
I turned the direction my mobile home was sitting with a 2004 Silverado half ton 4x4, I sat the tongue jack on a discarded bent front truck bumper, then low lock and it slid really easy, but no don't their alot easier to turn then try and actually move it over terrain.
Now this is a truck with mad fucking balls in my opinion all trailer lots should transport trailers this way it would be a lot cheaper on fuel plus thay a lot better gas mileage
Those leaf springs fucked up after that new a guy who busted them hauling 2 ton load of marble 3/4 ton pickup when they unloaded the axle shifted back he had to get towed. The only thing holding the axle in was the weight from the marble
They did this with a 3/4 ton, and only a 4x2? I'd think I'd want a 3500 with a 454, but a 2500 with a 350? Impressive. Also, what is pre-squatting and where will they take this to? Love the randomness at 3:33: "Haley, stay here!"
As the son of a former mobile home mover, that truck isn't built for that. It may have the power, but he has more weight on, both, his suspension and definitely too much on his rear tires. Since he doesn't have a toter, I would've at least used a dually with a diesel engine. Also, the heavier the load is you're pulling, the higher your RPM is going to go (which can be a bad thing.) Everyone has different opinions, but it's fact.
His wife WAS in the back bedroom sleeping but when he jerked the trailer she woke up which in turn made her get out of bed and go to the bathroom at the front of the trailer. (hence the tongue weight). Wait til she goes to the kitchen to get 'er breakfast burrito, Big Gulp soda and ipad. It'll level out.
In the Spring of 1996 I lived just outside of Houston in the worst trailer park you could possibly imagine. One fine Saturday morning my roommates and I were drinking cheap beer and working on cars as usual, and all of a sudden into the trailer park rolls a 1970-ish F-100 pulling a HOUSE TRAILER. Not a camping trailer- a house trailer... and a lot faster than what I'd consider a safe speed, probably because he wasn't sure he'd get it rolling again if he stopped. It was old, not as big as most these days- but it was 14 foot wide and probably fifty feet long. Looked about like the one in this video. Had a flat tire on each axle, one on each side. We all thought this was pretty funny, so we went over to help him unhook and set it on blocks. He had wedged a board in between the axle and the frame on both sides so it wouldn't squat the suspension so bad like this video. The hitch on this trailer was set up for what I assume was a 2-5/16 ball... he had just set it down on the 1-7/8 trailer ball on the step bumper. Said he had towed the trailer about 2 miles. Later on he told us several different stories about how he acquired this trailer. I think he stole it, but we'll never know. So all the trailers were angled along the drive towards the road. When he pulled the trailer into the trailer park and backed up, he had the trailer angled the wrong way. The trailer park manager (also the local drug dealer) came out to tell him that he needed to angle it the same way as the other trailers. So we helped him hook it back up to the truck. Now this truck was a 2wd automatic with either a 352 or a 360 (don't remember), so it didn't even have low range to move this load. He just stood on the throttle and let the engine scream, slipping the torque converter. It was all the truck could do to start the trailer moving, but it did move. He got it turned around well enough and backed up. Just as he got the trailer more or less into place (engine still screaming), the truck put out a cloud of white smoke. The rest of the day, we consumed lots of cheap beer and weed while helping him replace a head gasket.
When you're on house arrest & the judge says you can't leave your home
Lol😂
*CRAIGSLIST ADD:*
Forsale... Gently used 88 Chevy truck driven by my grandfather. Might need clutch and rear shocks soon! Never towed with, babied since day one🙄
Ol chevy has some power
That’s one tough old Chevy
"Hey Honey! Guess what? Lot #4 is open! Let's move over there before someone else gets it," 😀
😂😂😂😂
Had lot's of old chevy trucks and they are tough trucks.
if it was a new truck soon as that trailer hit the hitch ball it would have went into limp mode!
I pulled a 12x50 mobile home about 5 miles with my 77 F250 on the ball of the step bumper! I still use it to plow snow.
Best damned trucks ever built
What engine is in it
you ain't bragging till your dragging
Ridin like a Cadillac, with super power steering lol :D
When Chevy made a truck worth a damn
Chevy 454 with granny used to be a beast! I saw my grandad drive down a muddy road! Turn around! Hook up to my uncles ford 250 4x4 also with granny! AND HE WAS STUCK! Pull him out! All in 2wd! Never forget it! Wish camera phones was out back then
I have a Chevy 454😎
I thought only my people did things like this. It's no coincidence that they're using an old school Chevy truck. Those old trucks will pull and haul whatever you hook up to it. Before the video started, I'm sure the driver said, "You need that trailer moved? Hold my beer!"
Yeah they just won't stop and a new one wouldn't even squat
My 1985 3/4 ton with a turbo 6.2 diesel would love this!
Fun fact all crew cabs come with 1 ton frames regardless if its a 3/4
"Got my camper all loaded up and headed for the hills!"
Never underestimate an old Chevrolet truck
Reminds me of my childhood good memories my uncle got us a home yayyy
People say their Duramax or Turbo Cummins can do so much more than a 454 Big Block Chevy but here we have not even a 454 it's a 350 which is definitely more reliable but less power and it's pulling a damn house! That's one bad ass Chevy
legend has it they are still filling the tank with gas
Not as bad a 460 you watch the fuel level go down idling
If you leave it running when getting gas, it'll never completely fill up.😂
Those square bodies had dual 20 (or 16) gallon tanks that you have to fill up on each side unlike the Fords duals on the same side. If you're in a hurry and don't fill both sides you're back at the gas station tomorrow lmao.
Anthony Vandyke
I have to agree, my dad had a Lincoln Mark V with a 460. I could literally watch the needle go down.
Stop cryin' everyone, square bodys are a dime a dozen and they can handle this type of work no problem, they are chevys from a time trucks were built to last.
Phoenix497
not a dime s dozen here. worth their weight in beer, if u can find one that's not a rust bucket
And its 2wd too!👍
90's they were built to last
I'll take 2 dozen in that case. Where can I pick them up? I'll bring 20 cents, you have them ready.
I went too get some beer and cigarette s and my Fu#kin house was gone.
Rock crushing transmission in that truck
Yup like a rock that SM465 is !!!
That truck was meant to do nothing except be worked to death. Not like this new bullshit rolling around
Hell yeah
Had a since morals back then Chevy did... and a fuckin back bone unlike the trash the train to call new trucks these days
Never underestimate the true power of an old square body.
the truck is worth more than tbe trailer...
Rusty Shackleford I thought you were dead.
P.s. we moved, not to far... the parking brake came loose. Signed bubba J
Nothing like 80’s and 90’s pickups
Best ever
That’s a good looking truck.
I love the smell of burnt clutch in the morning
2015? this brings me back to the 90s damn
Iv seen many things on youtube, but for some reason this is the most satisfying. And its not even 4wd! Btw, I really hope your junking that trailer haha.
Nice truck.
I like this
Good job for 2wd. Well done Chevy
DAMNED rite!! Chevy tough! and here's the proof!!
That mobile home looks like it should be part of the set of The Walking Dead.
Curtis Braun they had just bought it from the Prop Shop
Man those Chevy commercials weren't lying back then!
Yup video fits perfect with the music
Should be called the super Chevy show
Gotta love a square Chevy. I would love to own a 87-91 k-5 blazer that wasn’t rusted to the core but when you find one that ain’t, you’ll pay big cash for it around where I live.
Billy Bobs leaf springs never did have the bounce like they used to after that day
I turned the direction my mobile home was sitting with a 2004 Silverado half ton 4x4, I sat the tongue jack on a discarded bent front truck bumper, then low lock and it slid really easy, but no don't their alot easier to turn then try and actually move it over terrain.
Cool man
King o' da road.
4 doors long bed that a rarer truck🤔🤓
Gilbert Serna thats what i was thinking to
Rare breed also
Truck alone is worth more than the house
Chevy & GMC crewcabs with that body style only came in long beds back then.
When you hear old timers talking about how the 454 could pull anything this is what they mean.
Got the interstate running through his front yard man he never had it so good oh yea
Too nice of a truck...
Very Good...
I don't see many of those generation Chevy & GMC fullsize trucks out on the roads anymore like I use to back in the day.
Now this is a truck with mad fucking balls in my opinion all trailer lots should transport trailers this way it would be a lot cheaper on fuel plus thay a lot better gas mileage
Wow that is one long trailer. Imagine having to make turns pulling that thing.
- Honey I think the toilet hole is full
- Dont worry hon, I'll move to another spot.
Yeehaw get er done! 💪😂
Nice
hold my beer monument
Monument?
*for a moment?
Can't believe he just drove away without getting his beer back from Mark.
Those leaf springs fucked up after that new a guy who busted them hauling 2 ton load of marble 3/4 ton pickup when they unloaded the axle shifted back he had to get towed. The only thing holding the axle in was the weight from the marble
I thought I was watching Discovery channel with a ant pissant carrying a loaf of bread.
Is there a part 2?
That long wheelbase is saving his ass
I've been there and done but with a 1997 Chevy 3/4
I wonder what they bought first in 1982 truck or trailer?
Kids were going camping at the beach! Lmao. Long live bowties.
That Chevy now has a groin injury 😂😂👍
Badass
They did this with a 3/4 ton, and only a 4x2? I'd think I'd want a 3500 with a 454, but a 2500 with a 350? Impressive. Also, what is pre-squatting and where will they take this to?
Love the randomness at 3:33: "Haley, stay here!"
It's because he's overloading his pickup. His tires have too much weight on them, and so does his suspension.
The landfill comes to mind...
got to move it some how
GET ER DONE 🇺🇸
My dad & cousin pulled a 12 x 65 mobile home with his International Jeep with 4 wheel drive, no problems. But I don't know about a Chevy truck 😕
That truck has the power of all the Ford's together wait NVM I wouldn't make it whith that
tough ass chevy truck from a bygone era, no computers and plastic shit.
Can't get no more red than that!
When you are on house arrest and need to make a beer and cigarette run
Chevy 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
That's a c30 (1 ton) because for those years they didn't make 4 door/crew cab in 3/4 ton.
Filipe Rodriguez I have a C20 85 crew cab long bed
What engine does it have?
You can't kill a pushrod motor 😂
Squatty boi

Pulling something and STOPPING something are two different things. Oh and let's not forget about steering around corners. This is ridiculous.
Welcome home West Va
that's why I'm a Chevy Mexican
Jorge Gonzalez lol
Chevy☝️😎
Where is this
"Honey... I think the negibors are moving..."
When mama wants to move
This feels like one of those old Chevy commercials where they try to do stuff like this.
Bannanah flavored Clorox bleach...like the old 3/4 ton commercial where they pulled like 6 full logging trucks worth of wood.
shannon wyatt that’s the exact one I was thinking about
Bannanah flavored Clorox bleach...great minds think alike👊
shannon wyatt yup
Love the music.
Hey babe my boss is coming we gotta move this is his land
That’s what a real squat looks Like not non of that stupid shit with the lift in the front
nobody ever thinks to put some weight in the back of the trailer to help take some weight off the tongue
storminnormanz The back is dangling like maybe they did.
It'll level out.
storminnormanz : Hahahahaha ....maybe some helium balloons tied to the outside of the trailer ......
i wanna see him do 100 down the highway in that thing
100 downhill grade 5 mile per hour uphill grade who says he ain't trucker
Chevy boysss
She's a reel Purdy home

that CHEVY is as long as that trailer
Chevy power
