- In this video I'm setting my self a 30 minute timer once again with the challenge of how many fish and species I can pick up using 1 setup.
The setup today is a very wallet friendly option.
The HTO Urban Finesse ( amzn.to/48iPtHy ) is the best value ultra low budget LRF rod on the market in the UK and its available as low as £31.99 at times but usually around the £39.99 mark. Still by far the best rod you will find for les than £50 in my opinion.
I've paired it up with a very cheap Shimano Sienna 500 (amzn.to/48hD0E4 ). This reel is brand new to me so hard for me to really review it after only 30 minutes fishing but it coped lovely with a hard diving wrasse taking drag and it looks the business for the money. I've seen this cheaper so may be worth shopping around.
The braid I've used her is the Shimano kaikiri G5 9.1lb 100m spool.

Love these 30min challenges and I'm all about budget gear. 2 fish is better than no fish!
Just recently got some BFS gear - reels are perfect for LRF fishing.
Intend to fish the canals more local than sea 2 hrs away.

I grew up in Brixham and fished the breakwater and the quarry hundreds of times, great video well done.
Have you tried fishing with light float gear from the first spot down those steps, it used to produce good results back in the day?

Have you ever used your lrf gear fishing for stocked trout
What size hooks do you use? I’ve been using size 16 gamakatsu and some days I seem to hook plenty then other days i just get short strikes with no hook up, any tips or advice?
Use a baiting needle to make sure your hooks are at the tail end of the lure.
Some dishes mouth are just too small.

It's a mixture of the liquid from packets of Berkely Gulp, Marukyu Isome & Ecogear aqua.
What do you store the baits in? I’ve seen people store them in some kind of liquid is that in water or something else?
In tubs using the liquid from the lure packets. I then top up as an when required with this stuff or similar from ecogear/marukyu

Which case/tube etc you using chief? I've been looking for decent 1m narrow tube but all I can find is Art tubes that are wide/bulky.
I use this one, come sin a few different lengths and has elastic sections insode so you can store two rods withkut them clashing into each other. amzn.to/3sytMmM

Lol when you're using a "cheap" rod and you wrap the line a couple of eyes down ... that's no fault of the rod , that's entirely on bad handling... from you
🤣🤣🤣🤣 oh I know that. What I was talking more about is the tip eye but still using split shot rigs in the wind will always end up with some tangles
