This was so thorough even I understood it. I have a camper trailer that is falling apart and selling but I want to keep the tanks and stove. Having never owned one I don’t for the life of me know how to take them off. Thanks for this!! 😊
Great video, I had an issue with my camper recently, thought it was my regulator but ended up being a problem with the checks in my hoses not letting gas flow to my regulator, but I watched another video and they were saying that it is recommended to do a pressure drop test "?" or "something like that", when changing out a regulator have you heard of that? One little tip also I would either use an open end wrench or turn my crescent wrench the other way especially on brass fittings because using it backwards could strip out the flats on the fitting.
Probably a good idea to change out the pigtail connectors at the same time. The ones on your video looked very stiff and old. They fail and leak fairly regularly as they get old. The new ones will have a soft flexible hose, when they get hard and stiff as in this video, replace them.
Unless you are a RV parts salesperson I wouldn't change these out every 3 years. That is how old the RV was when this video was made. Instead I would check for leaks and if it is flexibility you are looking for then I would check that when it is warmer out not in February when this video was made. You can change them as much as you want but they will be hard and stiff as in this video when it is cold out. Thanks for watching.
funbro1 You have a good point. If they are not leaking and you checked them, why replace them. I assumed they were as old as the regulator which had failed. The other argument is that you can spend 20 bucks to preemptively ensure you don’t have a failure when you least want it.
I had the same Fairview regulator leak in the same location on the top crimp on a 1 year old trailer! If you have one of these Fairview regulators, it would be a good idea to check it for leaks often, or replace it preemptively. Thanks for the video, my replacement went the same as yours. Be sure to shut off the propane valve before removing the propane tank connector.
in just received a safety recall from Jayco , the Wintec model 6020 two stage regulator on my Open Range camper is defective...along with about 87,000 Jayco products ...guess i will replace it myself !
Hi, this is helpful thanks. When you have the gas on and both cylinders open can you hear the gas moving through the system? I set up 2 propane cylinders to my mobile home with the double regulator. However we can hear gas. There is no leak and absolutely no smell of gas. Just wanted to make sure it is normal to hear something like this. Thanks
This one has a cover over it so any noise that it makes can’t be heard through the cover but to my knowledge the only noise may be a slight hissing as gas is traveling through. Hope this helps, Thanks for watching
Hi Bob after watching your video I feel more confident doing this myself. So far got everything disconnected but on one side the hose came off with the brass fitting from old regulator to my my hose can’t get it off. Any suggestions?
You will need to seal it back up when you put it back together. If you are talking about the crimped part then that would have to be replaced. Hope this helps, thanks for watching.
Nice video. Very informative. My only comment/question is it appears you install your propane tanks and regulator backwards from how I've ever seen anyone else do it. You can't easily see visually whether the valve indicator is in the green or the red. Is there a reason you chose to install it that direction?
this is an amazing video. I was able to get to the store to get what we needed before we face subzero temperatures tonight. thank you.
Awesome, thanks for watching.

Glad that the video was able to help. Thanks for watching.
Best video on this I've seen. Excellent.

Thank you! I have a leak that developed yesterday. Your video is perfect to help me diagnose and repair the problem myself.
Thanks for watching.

Just had to do this today. Worked out fine.
Glad the video was useful, Thanks for watching. Happy camping.
thanks.. I have to do this when my new one arrives.. I feel confident
Thanks for watching.

It's not really that hard so you might as well with the time frame that many places are quoting as far as time goes. Thanks for watching.
I had to wait months to get a replacement one in the mail due to the major supply chain issues right now. No RV parts stores even have them.
This is an odd time.
Thanks for watching.
@@funbro1There was a massive recall on them, so there might have been supply issues regardless
See you are going through the trouple of replacing the regulator, its not a bad idea to replace with new pigtails as well.
The pig tails were in good shape otherwise that would be a good idea.
Thanks for watching.
They put lock tike on the threads of the new regular difficult to get the fitting off. Be careful taking them off i almost broke my new one
Yes, be careful when removing the old one.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks. Very helpful
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.

@@funbro1 great, i think this is what we are hearing. Thanks for the reply.😊

You can just sprint it around to check but it's the way they installed it stock. Same on my TT
Ours came stock this way, also. Turning it forward twists the outlet hose so I just leave it rear-facing.
Hoses seem to fit better this way. Thanks for watching.
I have that exact tongue jack. My tailgate hits it when opened. Do you know if it can e turned?
I don't believe it can be turned. Thanks for watching.
