while i agree with spiderverse gwen being trans her being that strong of an trans ally that she has a trans flag in her room is still leagues above the "you cant prove its trans trans related" stuff. its undeniably a positive depiction of trans people regardless of if gwen if trans-no matter how you slice it the message "protect trans kids" is a positive message that not only acknowledge that every trans person was a kid at some point and sometimes even understood their transness as a child but that trans kids are worthy of protecting
people saying that homosexual relationships are inherently sexual and shouldn’t be in kids media is baffling to me because like. what about heteroSEXUAL relationships. what is the difference what am i not getting
Even if it is explicitly stated that someone is trans or queer in fiction, the fandom will still start arguing whether or not it is official Look at Bridget in Guilty Gear or Vivian in paper mario ttyd remake People spent months arguing that Vivian is not trans when she explicitly tells Mario she is And mind you, she was also pretty clearly trans in the original japanese release too, with it only censored in english and german Or even Beauty(a female only class) Nova in pokemon x and y, who says she used to be a blackbelt(a male only class) but was able to be herself thanks to advancements in medicine
unfortunately yes this is also a problem. i think the situation here is that even if people *know* the representation is explicit they're still in denial about it/will turn it into an argument simply because they DON'T want to see any queer characters, full stop but even worse is that if the media tries to make it SUPER explicit to prevent that happening, the narrative will shift and they will complain that it's being "shoved down their throats" or "rubbed in their face" it feels like there's no winning sometimes
@@Qwizz yeah it is really annoying Hopefully it gets better as more games/movies include us and do well Like Deadpool, while not kid friendly in the slightest, is one of the most successful film franchises of all time, has major queer characters. Or Undertale/Deltarune's Mad Mew Mew, Mettaton and Noelle Holliday, all explicitly trans and from one of the most successful indie games of all time
I laughed my ass off at 8:16 because my family is mixed. My dad’s a mulatto and my mother’s mostly Italian, and me and my other brother are white, while my younger brother is light brown and my older sister is olive colored. We like to joke that we’re black, but in fact, we’re Italian 💀
After watching video; The comment above was written for relationships I loved The Owl House, it helped me realize many things about myself. Made me more comfortable about being ace and pan! I hope that we make more progress in media, cancelling a show for having lead characters queer is pathetic..and sad Honestly, I'd love to see more aspect characters around. If they were in kids shows it would probably help a lot too. Like I know there's tons of single aunt/uncle characters, but what if they are actually asked by the kid characters about it? Idk what the best answer would be, like "I like spending time with my family more" is a simple one. I joke that one of my uncles wouldn't buy me chocolate anymore if he got a partner pff. It doesn't have to be "my life isn't a fairytale, I don't want a prince/princess" cuz tons of aspec people do want a partner and/or a family of their own. I hope we can get to a point where it will be normal and nobody would complain (I mean we just have to outlive them, so in 50 years it will definitely be better, sadly many older gens are so brainwashed by their own beliefs) but I believe we can turn this around and keep making progress
I personally feel like they should at least have straight, gay, bi, trans and enby rep, since those are kinda the things the rest of the community is based off. Later in life when they can actually process it they should learn a bit more about other identities. Thats my opinions and feel free to respectfully state urs in replies :) EDIT: also disabled (physically and mentally) and poc is very important too!!
i grew up right before the whole "boom" of lgbtq characters in cartoons and i sometimes really wish i was growing up today, when there are even a handful of trans characters in media, even though they're still very rare. (binary trans characters are very rare, at least) i vividly remember LOVING every little SHRED of lgbtq characters even being briefly acknowledged as a concept. ten years ago i would be in shock if i knew that there is some casual representation in cartoons nowadays. i came out pretty early compared to some other trans people, but seeing even the slightest trans representation in cartoons growing up, i would've felt slightly less alone.
"It paints heterosexuality as the norm" But that's the thing, it kind of *is* the norm. We need some people to be attracted to those of the opposite sex so our species does not go extinct. And it's a well known fact that most people are straight. Having said that, I really hate it when people (on both sides of the argument) paint normalcy as being the "good" option and abnormality as the "bad" option, when morality has nothing to do with normalcy or lack thereof. In other words, just because something is considered "not normal" doesn't make it bad. Especially when it comes to sexuality or attraction or whatever you wanna call it. Which is why I hate it when genuinely homophobic people use "it's not normal" as an argument to justify their options. We get it. Most humans are straight. That doesn't make people who aren't "bad", because evil is specific to the person. You can have moral straight people, and immoral straight people, and you can have moral queer people, and immoral queer people. It all depends on the person, not the group. On the topic of representation specifically, I do believe that representation is a great thing when done properly. It should not be forced, and the characters meant to be the representation can't just be hollow one-note characters whose only personality trait is that they're queer. Because then the representation is pointless and honestly, kind of insulting. Which is why characters like Luz and Amity work so well, because they have much more depth than just their attraction towards each other, and it's not super in-your-face. It's *obvious*, not *obnoxious*. They're great characters who just happen to be in a same-sex relationship. tl;dr just because something isn't normal doesn't make it bad, and representation when done right is a good thing
do you use any special brush pack or just apple-provided brushes? too distracted by the drawing to focus on the lovely video, haha. happy to have found you!
there was this 1 cute kids show with episode where a boy wanted to attend girls party and he went crossdressing. everyone knew that it was him and were actually accepting and then after the he was "revealed" he actually came out as transgender feeling happy being girl.
