  • In this video, I'll show you guys the magic of inversions! I start by playing a little piece in F and I'll explain how I think about it. later, I'm going over F major & F minor triads (1-3-5) in 6th, 5th & 4th string. There's a PDF with TAB & notation for all this on Patreon.

One of the greatest skills of Rotem is (besides being a jazz guitar hero extraordinaire) that he simply makes you love music more. Thanks Rotem!

I typed in the search 'exploring chord inversions' - this answered that 10 fold. The power of simple inversions are not explored near enough. I believe we should look at them as powerful unique subsets, where each inversion can evoke a rich mystical quality. This video clearly demonstrates the rich beauty they posses. (And this was only two keys F and Fm) 👍

Rotem, I need to say that once: I admire watching your fingers touching the strings so unbelievably gently. I never saw a player caressing the strings all the time like you do. When I watch your hands playing, it feels like watching Bob Ross paint. Except for I could paint like Bob Ross, but not play like you (yet). But really, watching you play is taking away all stress of me and I am just talking about watching you. What I hear relieves me even more.
The look of your playing style might be irrelevant to lots of people maybe, but it rounds up the experience to me and when I look at your videos for a minute I feel warm and soft and become a better person within myself. Love your warm voice as well by the way.
And I truly mean it. Don't fear I would want to marry you now, but, man, you have something worthy to give and I say thanks!

I had exactly the same impression when I first heard Rotem on Paul Davids' channel. I was like ”How is he making those angelic sounds?!” Part of it is his set up and effect pedals (which I would like to copy) but he needs to have such an intimate relationship with his guitar to be able to touch the strings as if he was caressing a kitten 😄 I'm also in awe with his style. It's on the opposite end of a spectrum from very skillful shredders who also must have a close relationship with their guitars but more of a sadomasochistic nature 😉
Rotem, if you happened to read this comment, please, could you do a video on how to obtain your tone (unless it's your precious secret) and also how to improve picking?

Hey rotem I’ve seen just about every one of your videos and I think I’ve figured it out. You’re in the key of F major using a I IV V iii I ii I progression. Which would be eight bars ending on the ii & starting back on the I , you’ve taught me so much, at least twice a week I’ll get up in the morning, have some coffee and take notes on one of your videos, followed up with practice, ☮️

Took me a secon nd to understand its not a scale it just inversions of the same chord that give a very beautiful impression of a complete scale. I realy love you chordal work. Thanks for sharing.

Loyal to the set of strings you're playing! I love that expression Rotem, you have such a wonderful way with words.
I love playing different inversions, when I first learned this concept, it immediately opened up tons of new avenues for my playing. I wrote new music almost without trying.
    Thanks for another wonderful video!

It makes me insane when I watch a teacher, such as you and in the background there are many guitars in a stand or hanging on the wall.
    What are they???

I find you're doing unnecessary stretches, for the 2nd and 3rd inversions of F ( low strings), I use 5-3-5 and 8-7-10, much easier for me at least;) Is there a specific reason for this?

  • @cfibanez

Was this progression taken from Ralph Towner's "The Sacred Place"? It sounds exactly the same.
