I think the reason why we love Julie is because she is both ordinary and extraordinary in the same instant. There is nothing about her that is apparently different from you or me, and yet she is so brilliant. We can relate to her, despite how far above us she is. I don't know how she achieves this magical dichotomy, but she does, and thank goodness for it.
She never took herself too seriously. She never thought she was better than other people, just incredibly lucky to have the talent and the opportunities she had - and I'm not sure she ever realized quite how special her talent was. Can you imagine how much more ordinary The Sound of Music would have been without her phenomenal voice and her nuanced acting? I shudder at the thought.
@@deviwolf3365It took me a long time after discovering Mary Poppins to sit down and watch the Sound of Music. I prefer the former over the latter. Nonetheless, I discovered the Sound of Music in my early teens. And I had to watch it just for Julie! It was one of few movies that encouraged me to see live theatre
The honor couldn't have gone to a more deserving person! How refreshing it is to see great talent remain so humble and grateful, something we don't see so much nowadays. There will never be another Julie. She is truly special.
There are no words to to describe Julie Andrews that have not been said. The world has been so blessed to have such a wonderful human being .May Julie have many more years ahead with health and happiness.❤❤❤
WOW, she has lived an extraordinary life that most people can only dream about! Her contributions to the betterment of society extend far beyond the entertainment industry!
If I were to describe Dame Julie Andrews using the characters I have grown up with, I'd say that I pinky promise promise promise that she is one of my favorite things. She truly is practically perfect in every way and that will be her crowning glory her whole life through. I just love her!
Like most generations, I’ve been a fan of Julie since watching Mary Poppins at age 4. It was perhaps my first live action movie musical! My other favorites of her roles are Queen Lillian and Cinderella! The Sound of Music is semi holiday viewing tradition for me. Beautiful words spoken by Anne and Mr. Van Dyke. May the Spoonful of Sugar live on forever!
I feel so lucky to have lived parallel to Julie to be benefit from her amazing talent & now see her incredible humanitarian soul. Much admiration to her.
Julie Andrews will always be an idol for me, hopefully for everyone else. Julie, you are an inspiration for all of us. Of course for your kindness and also for just being a governess in one of my favorite movie musicals sound of music. I would love to have mary poppins babysit my kids, when it's time. We all love you, take care. You are one of our favorite things.
One day not too far off, we will lose her, as we must all such greats. When we do, she will have acquired such accolades, such honors from her 'peers' in all sorts of media and disciplines that she will be close to peerless in recognition of her achievements. We can take solace that at least.
She did do a scene from “Taming of the Shrew.” I believe it was from her television show in the 70s. Last time I checked, it was on RUclips. Maybe you can find it.
I live Juliet Andrews, I was her avid fan since my childhood and now I am a sixty eight, I never stopped viewing her you tube interviews, flashbacks of her movies, stage plays and many more. She's so a versatile actress, thus I could say, gifted, talented, a brilliant woman. They are really a perfect match with Christopher Plummer. How nice if they ended as couple.
You would have to be a fool to not see how special this woman is. I simply Love her. I am just like this woman, we could of been twins. I love you Julie, and Yes my name is Julie Too and I sing too, and I think she would make a good best friend to me. xxx ooo

Now that’s class. For decades and in everything Dame Julie Andrews has done she’s always gracious, humble, and elegant.

DAME JULIE ANDREWS
Yep. That's a title Anne Hathaway should have used when introducing her.

Thank you for letting us know. I genuinely was wondering who she is.

Americanization of Emily was incredible...I mean JAMES GARNER TOO?
I'm glad Julie's husband Blake Edwards lived long enough to see J.A. win this award.

Maybe you had a problem texting, but her first name is JULIE not JULIET!!
When the audience interrupted the speech 😂

Who s name is the narrator?
Anne Hathaway
Voice over male vouce
Les Marshak.
Hi Anne HathawayI, it’s Dame Julie Andrews, , not just Julie Andrews
I pretty sure she knows she did 2 movies with her and Julie has said herself that doesn't often use Dame it's just Julie or Jools

Goodness but the award itself is a godawful ugly thing, like Hannibal Lecter's mask!
Hathaway is a pill. Has no idea how to read a room. Out of her element. Sold it well - had nothing to do with you Anne
Is it me, or is Anne Hathaway kind of irritating here?
