In this intermediate excel tutorial, I’ll show you how to add a column total in Microsoft excel. There are several ways to add total in excel and in this video I’ll explain six of them.

Procedure 2: We can also use the auto sum feature in excel. Select the cell where you want your total and click on the formula tab. Now select sum from autosum dropdown. Now sum function will be automatically placed there and you’ll get a total.
Procedure 3: Now we’ll use the autosum Keyboard shortcut to add a total row in excel and the shortcut is ALT + =
Procedure 4: Another nifty way to get the total is to select the range and you’ll see the total automatically in the status bar.
Procedure 5: The fifth way to insert a column total is to select the range where you have data and give it a name from the name box. Now once you select the named range from the name box it will select the range for you and you can see the total in the status bar. Also you can use the named range in sum formula and that will also give you a total.
Procedure 6: The last way is to convert the range into a table. Now once you do that using CTRL + T you’ll find a new menu on the ribbon named table design. Now select “Total row” from that menu and your table will now have a total row showing you the total of each columns.
