The first and last Hoka shoes that I will purchase. It is like running in soft sand, and these runners managed to knock 1 minute/km off my average run time. They just suck the life from your legs as you increase time and kms. I would avoid these shoes for anyone that 1) enjoys running and 2) wants to keep enjoying running. Where they might add value is for recovery days, or for people that are training for an event that has them running through knee deep mud or in very soft sand across sand dunes.
I am a heavy runner (90kg+) that runs 50km+ each week, and have not had an injury in about 5 years. These shoes changed that. My knees and ankles were inflamed and sore for days after running a slow 10km.
I usually wear Saucony or On Cloud shoes, and have recently switched back...and the muscle soreness disappeared...and my times magically came back up to my normal average!!
They are OK and comfortable for wearing around the house as a pair of slippers, but as a shoe for running - i would not recommend.

I remember when running shoes came with full rubber nobby soles. Not the 35% rubber, 65% foam they have today. Actually, I'm so old I bought the first waffle stomper model that had full rubber knobby soles.
