    I've bought two. One toilet is 27 years old, a bit yellowed and pongs (mostly from the crusty old uncleaned cassette which needs a new seal anyway). Got a Thetford refresh kit (seat and cassette) and the Twusch will cover the scuffed and lightly stained bowl. Also fitting a SOG. If you don't know what a SOG is, they're an automatic fan that comes on when you open the shutter and mean you don't have to use chemicals. They also mean you can empty the cassette any time and there's no waste of chemicals.

    What an excellent idea! I think that Twusch working in combination with Thetford to design a combination toilet is the way forward for both companies. Having this product also available to allow existing caravan and motorhome units to upgrade is also a good idea. I was therefore pleased to hear Thetford's positive response.

      To be fair Thetford haven't I believe, said whether fitting one would void your warranty or not. Andrew D is trying it for them as well - isn't that right Andrew??

    • @andrewjditton
      @andrewjditton  2 года назад +4

      Yes, they are interested to see how I get on. No mention of warranty, but at the end of the day you just need to carefully remove the sealant and lift out the insert and there'd be no trace.

  • @SweaterVestNetwork

    An awesome product! I see the Twusch porcelain bowl is fixed at the top lip with a bead of RTV which seals and prevents liquids from entering the space between the plastic bowl and the porcelain bowl, but what prevents smelly liquids from creeping up under the bottom lip of the Twusch just above the trap door that empties into the cassette? If it's not sealed, there's nothing stopping the waste from getting into this uncleanable void.

    • @ctuan13
      @ctuan13 9 месяцев назад

      Watching this video, that was my concern as well. I imagine you could use a fat bead of caulk around the inside of the funnel of the bowl, before dropping the tub in or maybe some plumber's putty, but just odd that they never addressed this.

    • @twuschcanada
      @twuschcanada 5 месяцев назад

      Good Question. The Twusch is designed in a way that it seals with the blade at the bottom. After extensive tests, we found that there's no danger of liquids getting sucked up between the plastic bowl and the porcelain insert. Nevertheless some of our customers chose to add a bead of silicone to the bottom, which is personal choice. Disadvantages with this though is that it becomes near impossible to remove the Twusch should you wish to do so and in case the top bead of silicone should become leaky for some reason over time, water may get trapped between the plastic and the porcelain. In this case, when you store your RV in the winter and the water freezes, it may cause the Twusch to break.
      Long story short: We've had the question a lot if fluids could be sucked up and our tests and experience over the years has shown that the possibility is highly unlikely. We had 0 cases of this happening.
      Hope this helps.

    Hi Andrew, rewatched this video as we’re thinking of adding one. Couple of questions, how does it fit at the business end into the cassette, is there any chance of contamination between the surfaces at this point. And finally how you getting on with it? Maybe an update to your video?

    • @andrewjditton
      @andrewjditton  Год назад +3

      I think you rely on the snug fit and gravity to ensure nothing 'goes up' the wrong way. So far so good - no problems at all and no odours. Will do an update at 12 months (Aug/Sept). Cheers!

    Hi Andrew! Thanks for sharing your experience in your very authentic way. The concern Thetford has with this solution is dirt coming between
    the plastic and ceramic after a certain period. We don’t expect the silicon to stick well enough to the Polypropylene if a primer is not used and a primer itself will damage the bowl. Sorry to say but we don’t believe this is the solution. Better to prevent damaging of the bowl by using maintenance product with the right balance between cure and care. You know I have some good suggestions. Take care!

      Hello Norbert,
      We are so happy and honored that you, hence Thetford, became aware of our product.
      It is very exciting to offer an accessory that can improve the user experience and the longevity of a great product such as Thetford toilets. I’m sure, in times like these sustainability and environmental friendliness is not only ours but also Thetford’s main goal.
      However, I hear your concerns and can assure you, those and more have been addressed during product development and the Twusch has been thoroughly tested in response.
      We made sure to provide a silicone in our installation kit that has been developed to seal and bond various materials. It is waterproof as well as resistant to anti-freeze and other chemicals.
      I would love to invite you to a conversation in a more private setting than the RUclips Comment Section. I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have and not just convince you of the quality and functionality of the Twusch, but truly impress you, like our many, many customers over the past years.
      Please don’t hesitate to send me an email at nadine@twusch.com. I’m looking forward to talking to you.
      Best Regards, Nadine

    Anti mould sealant I used around the bath 10 years ago, discolors where the water hits. However, neat bleach restores it. Let's hope that won't be a problem because it's a nice idea. Plastic does tend to scratch, and gets subject to skid marks

    It’s a good idea in principle but I can see a ridge on the silicone and the pan pink flush is going to collect in that gap and go black just like on bath tub sealant but it’s never the sealant it’s what’s on it and we know pink flush goes black in the tank over time, I hope I’m wrong but can’t help see draw back with the rim seal 😬 as a full time plumber I think regular cleaning is better and key

      This was my concern too. I’ve been considering one of these ever since I saw it on a couple of German channels a while back, but I would need to find a way to prevent detritus getting up between the two layers and being impossible to clean out. I’m not sure I believe the Thetford rep’s comment that no sealant will stick to polypropylene, as that’s how most wetroom motorhome bathrooms are sealed without problems. A project to consider over over the winter, if I can think of a way to make it work satisfactorily.
      My current solution is to polish, clay bar, and then ceramic coat the inside of the bowl to make it as “non stick” as possible. Has worked well so far but there is always room to improve.

    Well - I didn't expect that. A few comments:
    1. I see Nadine from TWSCH must be looking in at the comments as she has replied to at least a couple of them in a helpful & friendly manner (particularly to the chap who ordered the replacement bowl without the fixing kit when he bought it from Amazon).
    2. It will be interesting to see whether people's fears about discolouration of the sealant or the possibility it may crack/move as the caravan bounces up & down on UK roads over the years, are borne out in the light of experience in the next 6 months/years.
    3. People wondering about marks in the bowl...! Surely they use the "rose petal technique" with loo paper? Down the hole with no trace!
    4. Was always amused by people looking at £30K+ vans at dealers & overhearing them say they always stay on site & use the facilities there rather than their own bathroom. In a centrally heated van with all mod cons it seems a waste NOT to use the loo & shower. Apart from other issues you never have to go out in the cold or wet or dark (at night) and you know exactly who else has been in the bathroom before you!
    Thanks for the video.

      You got me... 😄I peek in on the comments on videos about our product once in a while to see if there's anything I can add to the conversation without taking over the comment section, as that's not my place. However, I love the way Andrew portrayed and promoted our product and I hope he won't mind.
      To your second comment: The Twusch so far has been sold thousands of times over the past 3 years and we haven't heard of any of these problems yet. BUT we understand the worries and have responded by having the silicone tested by an impartial laboratory and hope we'll be able to publish the results before the end of the year to ease some of the worries potential customers may have.
      However, we are still looking forward to Andrews updates and hope he is and will be as convinced of the product as we are. :)
      Did you know that we offer a lifetime warranty should the Twusch ever randomly break despite being installed correctly?
      Have a great day! 😄

    No thanks what a waste of money unless its a quick fix if the toilet bowl is damaged or leaking. I would rather fit a new Thetford toilet. I do not care if sealant is used on a Bentley its horrible and an unsightly join, it will discolor and peal off after a year or so.
