I was a Marine for 8 years and then joined the Army in 2002 after the 9/11 attacks and stayed 12 years with two combat deployments. I retired in 14' and when I learned of this shit with Eddie Gallagher I was keeping a close eye on it the entire time. I wholeheartedly supported him until the end. They completely FUCKED him over and was definitely a black eye on the Navy for some time to come. Semper Fi Eddie. Enjoy your retirement. You deserve it.

Agreed. I was a Marine of 8 years as well and this is certainly a misjustice of events that took place. It's so sad to turn their backs on one of their own so fast for their own reputation. I could see Eddie being tough to work under or even pushing the lines at times but to put the man away for life on this bullshit beyond me.

I’ll make one quick point … regarding the infamous “picture”. If anyone thinks that pictures of enemy KIA being taken by individual service members, press or civilians in a combat theater is a new thing and illegal you are completely naive. Personal opinions may vary. If u think it distasteful so be it. I’m a GWOT veteran. I can remember as a young kid finding a photo album of my VietNam veteran Father. It has several pics of dead Viet Cong. The pics weren’t taken by him they were taken by the unit. The same photo album had a hole in it make by enemy shrapnel from a mortar attack on his base camp while he was absent out on a mission. If he had been there he would have been killed. The difference between his photo album photos and today is he didn’t have the technology to share them via social media! Which is the big issue.

The man was found not guilty. If we believe in America, in the American jurisprudencial doctrine of innocent until proven guilty, then we have to accept the fact that the man was found not guilty in a court of law. Not just any court of law, but a Military tribunal. He's innocent. He may have made some mistakes, or did some things that your average citizen would find off-putting, but He's innocent nonetheless.

It was nice to finally hear Gallagher’s side of the story, but he left out so many details that would have exonerated himself further for the people who still have doubts. Gallagher never mentioned that he had to perfom a cricothyrotomy procedure on the terrorist (cutting into the throat) in order to establish an emergency airway because the guy couldn’t breathe. Why would Gallagher perform a cricothyrotomy to save the guy, which was working, only to then decide to stab the guy to death??
Gallagher never mentioned that the other SEAL, who admitted to killing the ISIS fighter in court, initially lied to the NCIS and blamed it on Gallagher. They now can’t charge the other guy because the prosecutors gave him full immunity right away. In other words, the guy first lies and throws Gallagher under the bus to get immunity and then he decides to admit in open court that he, not Gallagher, actually murdered the guy because he wanted to give him a compassionate death because he figured the guy was going to wind up dead anyway. Gallagher also never mentioned that the first prosecutor thrown off the case for illegally obtaining defense attorney emails is now under criminal investigation himself.
Lastly, Gallagher never went into detail about how weak the prosecutor’s case really was. Gallagher was being charged with murder, yet the prosecution couldn’t say definitively if the guy was murdered or how he was murdered. There was never an autopsy performed and no actual cause of death established. No pathologist testified that the ISIS fighter was stabbed to death. Gallagher’s hunting knife (the assumed murder weapon) and sheath didn’t have blood or DNA from the guy on them. Gallagher’s clothing that day never had blood on it and was never collected.

This guy sounds VERY credible. The media and US Navy has had its opportunity to get their message out to everyone. I VERY happy that Andy gave him the platform to get his side of the story out. It sure as hell sounds like ALOT of the chain of command made a bad decision to prosecute due to media attention & ego, and then NOT ONE of them was willing to admit that and dismiss the charges. Disgusting. I was Marine officer and I have been in a situation similar to the Chief. It sucks. It is even worse when someone's ego influences command decisions. Too often our commander's ego(s) become bloated and forget that they aren't a King with unlimited power. This happens to ALOT of General's & Admiral's. They forget that humility is a cornerstone of good leadership. There SHOULD be ALOT of people relieved of command (or duty) after this. Will that happen? Of course not...

I truly believed Eddie was innocent. Pretty early on actually. However, if he did do all that was accused I wouldn’t give a fuck. The shit he went through wasn’t warranted if he did do what they say he did. Especially because he was innocent and it was clear pretty early on. What is distasteful is how fellow SEALs and higher ranks treated him. Also how they treated him after the commander in chief gave orders. I have the utmost respect for all and every military personnel throughout our entire force. But I truly believe what Eddie said about “millennials”. If it’s really bad in civilian life, I’m sure it’s prevalent in the ranks of all branches of military...Even SEALs unfortunately. And it’s clear after hearing Eddie explain what went on.

Strong men make good times, good times make weak men and weak men make hard times. We are at the end of that cycle sadly. Just look at the "men" of today. Most dont have an ounce of character or a moral compass. Most people of today want everything given to them, they don't want to earn it.
