Wonderfully eye opening and insightful on the cost of warfare due at the end to the warriors that fight it. Endless potential in the exploration and discussion of the baggage and bill due at the end of war with you (tactical), Jocko (strategic), Dan Crenshaw (Policy) to wrap around the full scope and how we could potentially improve it going forward. For everything our warriors sacrifice it is a disservice to you/them that the general population cannot fathom the cost and for lack of a better term the interest that accrues over your career. I did not realize that I gave the most productive years of my youth until I saw where some of my peers - that did not serve, or got out early - were at in their own lives. If you get out at 40 years old, you will find how other folks had the chance to build a life and wealth without having to move every three years. They are farther along on their mortgages and their families are more likely to experience stability. You also have to start a whole new career and compete with younger people who are farther along in those fields. Most civilian employers do not see a value to hiring a 40 year old at an entry level wage. When they do, they want to keep you at that level for as long as they can. You are a threat more than an asset.
I did DMT a couple of times. And what it does from my experience is helps you see who you are. Just like you don't recognise your own voice, because your brain alters it in your own head. You don't really recognise your own personality and behaviour. It shows you the whole picture, including the parts your brain usually ignores. At least that's what I felt. Andy, just an awesome podcast. Opened up some things for me as a man to continue to fight and continue healing myself and deal with emotions I have stuffed down inside.
They are totally right. I’m ex British Army & I have the usual stuff going on. I feel I’m over empathetic. I can’t bear to hear a child cry, I have to remove myself from that situation. I hear about people having a bad time & I want to help, I’m over soft with my boys which I know isn’t a good thing but I tell them off but within 5 minutes I start thinking about how sad or upset they might be & I’m upstairs asking if they are ok, explain why they were told off, say it’s all forgotten about & leave their room with them laughing and we all are friends again which really annoys the wife who may of been the one to punish them. Also at the same time I can find myself being very easy to switch to being annoyed say in a restaurant & they didn’t take plastic only cash at the end of the meal. I went nuts n was ready to walk out n fook their money. Others around me see that I’ve taken things to far n I’m ready to go hand to hand with the waiter. Strange how brains work. Especially ones who have been blown up a few times plus been in TICs were just the noise n pressure waves of ordinance going off I had blood coming out of my ears n nose which can’t be good. I hope things will sort themselves out.
What you’re describing is exactly what one of my former coworkers was experiencing. He had been a paratrooper and is now a highly experienced firefighter. If it hadn’t been for the interventions of his fire crew, he would have ended himself. Fortunately, the IAFF has a great program for rescue workers and he was able to recover. His advice was to never give up in finding help. It won’t be easy to find the right person, but keep trying to find that person. Also, it will take time to get healthy again. It took my coworker almost a year before he could start to function properly again. Don’t give up.
When you're planning a new business, one of the key factors you have to consider is your exit strategy. Maybe that needs to be discussed from the start.
RUclips does not like patriots who have had to sacrifice for this country. Ive been a subscriber from the start but, rarely do videos from his channel get suggested. However, NBC’s take on the latest confused babble to come out of B i d e no’s, lives in my feed like a California squatter (pretty much can’t get it out).
Because for the longest time he didn't have video so it got kind of boring just looking at a static screen. Video makes it seem like you're in the room with them.
Hear any SOF guy or even regular soldiers from the war and it’s all similar stories. To do the job, you have to detach and not feel. It’s not inherently sociopathic and is more likely a symptom of built up trauma and emotional suppression. Go and listen to some of these other guys talk about it, it’s quite interesting from a psychology perspective. 🤙
Travis Mills would be another awesome guest for you to interview Andy. He is a quadruple amputee. Travis was horrifically injured in Afghanistan, I know
I did not have the full story of what had happened and in some way formed an opinion. After listening to this I will read the book to gain a better understanding. Thank you both
I couldn't agree more with Eddie Gallagher that talking about this is a critical step in transitioning and changing the culture. But perhaps pressuring the strategic level requires communicating with the correct organizations to put media, financial, and political pressure on these issues from these groups of operators, especially with a unified front? And oh, I don't know, promoting this very podcast maybe? I was not in the communities personally. I did not serve. I had some poor timing when it came to medical waivers on my two attempts to enlist. But I grew up in an infantry family, a formative amount of people I grew up teaching to and being taught combatives by at 16+ were former operators, I was trained for and did work in entertainment CPO with spec op veterans, and now I often feel I have more in common with veteran/active combat arms, and I relate to them more than I do most civilians. I personally have struggled a lot with my transition to not doing work where I was overexposed to violence, struggling to talk about it, struggling to find counselors who are even remotely qualified to work with LEOs/1st responders/combat vets, and have benefited tremendously just listening to these issues being discussed on Cleared Hot. So many of these guests have helped me on my journey to come back from what was overstepping my own threshold of violence exposure. So thank you. Please keep doing this. In a world saturated with spec op podcasts, Cleared Hot helps me the most and is by far the one I devote the most time to.
Looking back at Eddie Gallagher and the resentment I felt for him with his "ego." This podcast shows how much he has grown as a person from 1st pod to this one. The man genuinely laughs and seems to feel it more. His journey was revealing in the fact I can see the difference. He has been humbled. Wishing him a happy life. He put the work in. Great topic.
"After Chief Gallagher left the scene, I was left there monitoring him," Scott said. "I thought he would die. He was continuing to breathe normally, as he had been before. So I held my thumb over his ET tube until he stopped breathing." That's all you have to hear to know that the a&**holes with the NCIS and the cowards that turned on their team mate should all be arrested and charged with perjury, imprisoned and left to rot.
Really great comment. When the mountain of invented hearsay was swept away, the truth revealed was that “witnesses” lied and that the medic who enacted the mercy killing of an enemy combatant finally listened to his conscience and owned his actions. Hope Gallagher and his family continue to remain the real tight team to be revealed by this horror show.
Im so glad that you and your wife have the pioe hitters foundation to help others. Ive seen egos dig in hard even when they know they are wrong because of pressure ir they are latter climbers ect
G'day mate. just toutching base to point you towards some MACVSOG stuff that you were interested in. I think Jocko supports these guys to present. cheers brother.
Boy Andy nailed it at 1:35 with his perspective of the the “Sheepdog and Wolf” analogy I couldn’t agree more with him. We are now living through this dynamic.... the masses controlled are more dangerous than any wolf for sure !
Good point on the exodus of people retiring - I'm curious what the SOF community thinks about bumping up age limits to cast a broader net. Most suitable candidates (in the private sector) in their mid-late 30's early 40's are in extremely good physical shape, but also posses the mental prowess, patience, and leadership qualities needed, albeit lacking the military experience as an opportunity cost. Thoughts?
I was in the regular Navy ("big Navy") and taking more pictures goes for everyone. I have one picture of me on Mt Carmel in Haifa, Israel...that's it...one picture from 4.5 years. It was before digital cameras but that's no excuse.
One thing I always find hilarious is when dudes talk about millennials. There are millennials who are retiring this year after 20 years of service. In fact, all the guys who joined out of high school right after 9/11 are millennials. I understand your point but it is funny because a lot of millennials are older than you think.
Right. I’ll be 34 this year, the way ppl talked about dumb ass, lazy ass millennials made me think they were the generation after me. Come to find out... NOPE, I’m a millennial 😂😂😂
Whenever someone starts talking bad about millennials, I always tell them hey, the Millennials have a great number that are over in foreign countries, dying for your freedoms in combat. I felt that a long time ago myself... 19 years old when I went overseas
We live in a country were you can go to war and get charged with killing someone that cuts the head off innocent men, women, children! To say I would be bitter and pissed off would be a understatement! Blows my mind how this country treats our warfighters! Thank you guys for your service and keeping this country safe!
What your guest described with the inhale and hold for 10 seconds and so on.. that's my experience with salvia about a decade ago. It's crazy stuff. I still haven't made any sense of what I saw.
Would be very interested to hear Eddie’s accusers on the podcast. That whole situation was shameful and ridiculous, and I just can’t wrap my head around multiple team guys diming out their PSG.
"After Chief Gallagher left the scene, I was left there monitoring him," Scott said. "I thought he would die. He was continuing to breathe normally, as he had been before. Sadly there are alot of cases of entitled Butthurts not liking orders. All Seals aren't legends. Most people think they're the best if the best of the best. Valiant and honorable. With regards to higher ups and NCIS, there is a hideous personality type. The muddle management scrapper. They care only about themselves and their career. They'd sell their own mother and DEFINITE YOURS for a promotion and there's nothing like more than f*cking over someone who most people revere .
Andy has anyone spoken to the guy who said he put his finger over the ETT and finished the guy off? Obviously he has integrity and obviously he was there and obviously he has no dog in the fight. I would love to hear this guy say what he saw.
Very well-done interview like the one on Shawn Ryan's show. Encouraging those who need help to get it was well supported and appreciated. Very interested in the pipehitter's foundation and LE support. Thanks again!
When you guys started talking about the details of becoming a SEAL at 2:25:25 and how they're trying to maximize how many people they can get that pass through the process, it sort of pissed me off how it pretty much comes off as the Navy trying to make band-aid solution to get more people to pass. There's going to be some amount of people that pass the training and all that's required for them to become a SEAL on their own. There's no artificial way of making people pass without sacrificing the quality and the meaning behind your troops. If the navy or any branch wanted more SOF, they would take more care of their current troops so that there wouldn't be the need for so many new troops in the first place, trying to constantly innovate with what they already have. 🤦♂️
Military does it to us. Hardens us in ways the civilian world will never understand, unless they go through similar things. Some are bashing the NCIS but it's not all of them. The biggest thing is having the strength to make it through, when people do you wrong. I used to think I had a problem because I couldn't fit in when I came home from overseas. That was a long time ago. I've lived out in the sticks for over 34 years. Live it comfortable day by day. Yep I'm pretty happy away from the zoo

Only podcast I'll use my data to listen to at work, should upload an hour earlier so I can download it before I leave the house lol

Magical. .
such a different person from last time. the dark cloud is gone
So basically nobody but the guys there will ever know what really happened.
Great conversation. Hat's off to you guys for opening up about the things you experienced.
Waiting for the book! Glad to hear your doing a audio version! Also love the discussion about the generational differences. I am a old bald, double vision Vietnam vet an all my kids joined the Air Force after a few simple examples I gave them about a grunts life! However unknown to me the work they are doing puts them on communication for air strikes, (I worry but then eddie said you do have to Cut the Cord! Thanks man). Love the current events comments! What's up w/America? Real encouraged with idea to think critically.Thank you both for this Great Job men!
Thank you
Andy, just an awesome podcast.
How is there only 71k subscribers to Andy's podcast?
RUclips does not like patriots who have had to sacrifice for this country.
Ive been a subscriber from the start but, rarely do videos from his channel get suggested. However, NBC’s take on the latest confused babble to come out of B i d e no’s, lives in my feed like a California squatter (pretty much can’t get it out).
Because for the longest time he didn't have video so it got kind of boring just looking at a static screen. Video makes it seem like you're in the room with them.
great podcast! I can't wait to get Eddie's book
Now have the accusers on.
This guy is a sociopath. He literally admits “I’m emotionally deficient.”
Travis was horrifically injured in Afghanistan, I know
On I believe its 5th deployment to Afghanistan with the 82nd Airborne Division
Great show 👍🏻👍🏻
I did not have the full story of what had happened and in some way formed an opinion.
It's PR to not make him out to be a psychotic #$%$ that took shots at civillians...
29:50
Shrooms legit saved my life after the military
too true man ! I could only get good acid it opened me up mentally
Characters, actors. .the real deal . STUNNING….
Please tell Eddie to bring back that Glorious moustache
Are these new cameras? Quality looks great
LMFAO when he says "I wrote in my diary.. uh uh I mean notebook" 🤣🤣
52:05 segment on how to know when someone is at their limit; watch The Baseline Test from BladeRunner 2049
So who's being truthful gallagher or Scott?
Im so glad that you and your wife have the pioe hitters foundation to help others. Ive seen egos dig in hard even when they know they are wrong because of pressure ir they are latter climbers ect
G'day mate. just toutching base to point you towards some MACVSOG stuff that you were interested in. I think Jocko supports these guys to present. cheers brother.
Jocko ‘war crimes’ Willink ?
Awesome episode Andy!!
I really want to know who's voice that is at the start of pod calling In air support. His calm is amazing
Excellent interview
One thing I always find hilarious is when dudes talk about millennials. There are millennials who are retiring this year after 20 years of service. In fact, all the guys who joined out of high school right after 9/11 are millennials. I understand your point but it is funny because a lot of millennials are older than you think.
LOL yeah my pastor is a millennial. But 20 yrs ago it was the name for youngsters, and we never progressed to Gen Z...
Great stuff as usual funny though the first thing I thought when Eddie said
“take pictures” Oh boy I know where Andy’s gonna go with this one LOL
Great Podcast...Thank you!
Would be very interested to hear Eddie’s accusers on the podcast. That whole situation was shameful and ridiculous, and I just can’t wrap my head around multiple team guys diming out their PSG.
I can’t help but wonder if the same command that tried to screw Eddie is the same group who held up the recommendation for Chapman’s MOH.
@@tgallegos5729 That seems like a reasonable course of action to take after hearing one man’s testimony.
As you know it doesn’t happen in the seals. Guys don’t just dime out a psg. We are suppose to hold ourselves to higher standards and morals.
We can all agree, any company would love to have Andy talking about their products or services. Naturally media polished.
Oh shit. THIS....This is the way to start the week let alone my morning. Thanks guys. Glad you both found the time to make this happen
Lol,Millennials, and I thought the world had no meaning until April of 1975,Andy makes everything, relatable to us Laymen??
I relate to this episode to no end yet come from an entirely different life.
Thank you gents, Oos!
I'm waiting on man in the arena on audible and idea when it will be available I've been watching for it
Good shit fellas!! Thank you for your service!!
What is it with these guys wearing caps inside?
Can you do mrballen, he’s an ex seal and now he’s a scary story RUclipsr.
He'd be such a great guest!
I also want to see ex-SEALs like Mark Divine and Dom Raso on the podcast!
Andy has anyone spoken to the guy who said he put his finger over the ETT and finished the guy off? Obviously he has integrity and obviously he was there and obviously he has no dog in the fight. I would love to hear this guy say what he saw.
EPW not ETT.
@@Howard.Stern. I’m sorry what is that?
Another Awesome Podcast Mr. Stumpf. 😊👍🏼😎
What is the name of the Ibogaine retreat he went to in Mexico?
32:28 Charleston Ketamine Center saved my life. Ketamine treatments work.
Semper fi
Very well-done interview like the one on Shawn Ryan's show. Encouraging those who need help to get it was well supported and appreciated. Very interested in the pipehitter's foundation and LE support. Thanks again!
Im looking for the episode where Andy told a story about RPG dude. Any ideas?
In this war Barnes and Elias end up on a podcast.
Really good conversation. Cheers gents.
Also, give the benefit of the doubt,to the guy who laces up his boots, and puts his life on the line!!!
Another solid podcast.. keep cranking them out! 👍🤘🤘
Pre ordered your book. So ready to read this.
Are you going to have the other 3 plus team lads and witnessess on or is this an echo chamber?
Outstanding Ed Gallager.
So stoked for this
Excellent guest
Two of my favorite fellas!! Pre-ordered Eddie's book! Patiently waiting to read his story!!
This makes me want to cancel my enlistment in the Navy. I seriously can't stand what they did to Eddie.
You ever have to desire to shoot at civillians in country ....probably not
