These first notes were the first bends of my life, i remember how terible they sounded and how much my fingers hurt. Now after 3 years i have finally learned this solo and my fingers are hard as steel.
I promise man you just put the work in and it’s easier than you think Some tricky parts but once you get past working the bends right it’s a great intermediate solo
I watched Guns n Roses in concert this weekend. Slash is at his best after all these years. There are players who are much more technical and faster these days with no soul.
@@NL-fe4le So true, the thing is with Slash is he actually can shred and go blazing fast when he wants, he just chooses not to most of the time, that in my opinion is what makes him such a great guitar player. He knows exactly what the song needs and puts that in rather than making it all about him, he shreds like a madman on his live solos though, see this one: ruclips.net/video/dmNQur5OPN8/видео.html
Seriously man ive learned so much from you. You are the only one who teach the whole song and not just small part. I immensely love that. You are my true teacher. Respect. P.s. you deserve much more than just a million followers.
Hey guys I found a great tip To tune your guitar Down half a step, just put a capo on the first fret then tune it to sound like your standard tuning, then take off the capo I hope this helps everyone :)
great lesson Carl, as always. This solo is harder than it seems. It's very easy to go out of pitch with bends and many online tabs are just plain wrong. I've just made a cover of this solo thanks to your advice :)
Carl just kicked up my ability and desire to play. Thank you! I hit that wall all aspiring guitar players hit. Not looking to become an accomplished guitarist but I do want to enjoy playing something that sounds decent. I have a new respect for Slash as well.
*Stares for the first few moments* I think i can play this on my acoustic *stares at it for a bit and sees it go higher than the 12th fret* I CANT DO THISSS
Linda Ashley i know how you feel. At first I just couldn't bend, but then could get all the frets (no cut away, mind you) but I've got it now :) just keep trying
You really did a swell job with this, Carl. I can rip and run on the outro, go figure, but was having a problem with this, and you helped me on the little nuances I was looking for, ....and this is a run-on sentence.
You know, a year ago tried this song. With about 6 months of playing hours each day I thought I was up to the task. Now after thousands (yes thousands, I took out gaming and this is my new addiction) I heard it an wanted to try again, and I got it fairly quickly. Guitar has been the hardest thing I’ve ever learned, but honestly the most rewarding. So for anyone who’s just picking up the guitar and wanting to learn this, my advice would be practice cuz songs like this would discourage you from getting better, but the muscle memory comes, your ear for bends come, and then come back.
OMH have you heard Pink Floyd’s comfortably numbs solo at the end of the song omg when I tell you I fell in love with it 😩 definitely one I’m going to learn
It’s New Years Eve! And as I look back at what a dumpster fire of a year 2020 was, I realize that quarantine brought my guitar playing skills from constantly screwing up at Wonderwall to nailing the November Rain solos. And as I look around I see so many people who’ve made even more progress than me, so I say to you all... Rock on 🤘 and let’s blow our friends away with our new found guitar skills once Covid clears up.
know this is an older post on here but thanks for your time on this. My wife and I loved this when we were dating. Just picked up the guitar to learn a little over a year ago. So hope I can eventually get it down.
I've gotta pay my whole respect to this guy, the way he teaches is unbelievable I learnt Slash's sweet child o mine main solo and all 3 november rain solo's thanks to this guy.
This time last year, this song seemed impossible. Now, I can't believe I put off learning this for so long, it's not that difficult at all.(last solo still tough)
As I always say to people who’s learning the guitar: if you want to improve your bend, work hard until your fingers bleed on November Rain (and use a chromatic tuner if you don’t have perfect pitch)
aelberg3172 like when tuning it, press down on the first fret and make that sound like the standard tuning of that string. Won't this make your tuning one fret lower/half a step down
i appreciate these videos but DAE wish they would include some instruction on how to think about the scale shapes and chord tones that are being activated here instead of just dictating the tablature?

Szahu I’m glad you say that because I’m just starting and I can barely even bend the first bend without massive pain! Frustrating
I’ve picked this as my first thing ever to learn. Lol
@@davidbrackett246 haha good luck brother! The first thing I learned was simple man and I thought that was a hard first song lol. Good luck😂
Y'all doing this shit on electric. I'm out here messing my fingers up on the acoustic steel strings.
Great to read a comment like this as I'm very new, have sore fingers and sound absolutely awful lol. Gives me hope
The most beautiful guitar solo ever written, i love slash so much

My Brain : I think we can do this.

You can do it, if you try enough.
I promise man you just put the work in and it’s easier than you think
Some tricky parts but once you get past working the bends right it’s a great intermediate solo
Put down the cell phone and the gaming controller and pick up your guitar and you will get it.
Chill fam. Keep trying. This one isn't that hard. It's rather easy once you get there.
Hahahahaha same
I'll take this melodic stuff over shredding any day. This is very much in the style of David Gilmour. Beautiful sound.
I watched Guns n Roses in concert this weekend. Slash is at his best after all these years. There are players who are much more technical and faster these days with no soul.
Right on! My two favorite soloists. Melodic with awesome bends. They don't need to go blazing fast to get their point across.
Was going to say all the bending in this has a Gilmore feel to it. Prob why I have always loved this song
@@NL-fe4le So true, the thing is with Slash is he actually can shred and go blazing fast when he wants, he just chooses not to most of the time, that in my opinion is what makes him such a great guitar player. any one can shred, just shred, but not molodic.
This was gnr's stairway to heaven
tbh Yeah👌😍💯😇
So much truth.
I think stairway is easier, especially than the second solo
Easier? I can play the solo from Stairway after learning guitar for 8 months but can't play the ending solo for November Rain after a year and a half
@@FLYEYE-4k Still. When it comes to the lead guitar part Stairway is much easier
This solo is like crying guitar
This solo is beautiful
Soap McTavish I love this one, but I can't love any other one more than Estranged. fuck I love that song
Whitexican16 i agree, however estranged is much harder too play (slash said estranged solo is the most difficult to play live himself) :P

You can use a chromatic tuner and tune (starting at low strong) d# g# c# f# a# d#
M at standard tunning but m getting a one higher notes at some notes, is it because of my tunning
Or you could buy a tuner

amazing lesson like always. one song I learn before this that I think helped me get this one down faster was the whole lotta love solo you did.
People asking for this and that song tutorials! At least thank the man for the lesson first!

if u dont want to tune ur guitar down a half play every note one fret back
that's great for the solo, but for the rest of the song there's some open chords, which require the half step down
Couldn't you play the first fret on each string and tune it in standard so it's half a step down
+Harry Evans sorry can you explain what you mean, I don't understand
aelberg3172 like when tuning it, press down on the first fret and make that sound like the standard tuning of that string. Won't this make your tuning one fret lower/half a step down
+Harry Evans oh right, yeah that'd work, but as soon as you begin tuning you lose the auditory reference, which makes it pretty hard to then do.
his 8th fret is my 7th. I mean it sounds exactly the same but when I bend my 8th fret the scale goes different. is the tuning different?
Didn't you tune it down?
I especially dont like guns but this solo is full of emotion i want listen this again and again. Beautiful good job. Im going to practice it
thanks buddy👌
Man ur good and great tone
This solo as hard as hell

And what gauge strings did you use ?
i appreciate these videos but DAE wish they would include some instruction on how to think about the scale shapes and chord tones that are being activated here instead of just dictating the tablature?
