It's funny that the book of moon on exiled format only works in this scenario because in actual goat format priority exists
Thank you, Captain Obvious.
@@crimson90 bruh i forgor abt priority chillll
Mbt when winning goat: " yeah back in covid we played this because i like good formats"
Mbt when opponent opens graceful plus pot of greed: " i forgot this format sucks"
Nobody’s gunna talk about how doug almost surrendered first game and then clutched it? Against his 10-0 rival MBT none the less 🤯
MBT's protagonist powers only apply to Master -Saga- Roulette
@@brightpowder_cena you probably meant Master roulette
@@theelza7647 oops, thanks
@@brightpowder_cena and history of jank in another content creator's universe
Oh yeah. I did notice that
Hey Dzeef I have a possible solution for the turn 1 draw thing. So if you want to go first in the duel in this format, you would pick "go second" for the coin toss. The turn 1 player would immediately end their turn and then the turn 2 player would go on with their turn as normal with them not attack being able to attack as they are technically going first. So turn 3 would be the first battle phase. Tl;dr : Start the duel 1 turn later where turn 2 is turn 1 and turn 3 is turn 2. Hope I could help!
That wouldn't make much difference at all as whoever goes last still draws an extra card so beats the whole point
@@masterdon187 huh? Whoever goes last doesn't get a extra card. Turn 2 is officially the start of the duel. They draw do turn as usual and no BP. Turn 3(actual Turn 2 player) draws their first card card and is allowed to begin BP
@@jarmarcusnixon1580 actually yes you're right
I’m late but that’s actually really smart, hopefully they see this. Good job man
Doug out here playing just like Gage in Prog, truly the duelist of all time
More like cimo misplaying the crap out of a combo and losing the game for it.
The turns of them both bricking with their Chaos monsters were amazing
Me looking at the thumbnail: You know maybe Dzeef will actually have a chance at beating MBT this time.
Dzeef 2 minutes later: "yeah I don't know how to play modern goat format".
Welp we tried.
He pulled it off!
@@sangdrako HE DID!!!!
Dzeef your content has been just so fucking good lately
I love the back and forth and simple effects with these duels. I definitely want to see more videos like this or maybe even other formats.
This was honestly a much better watch than 90 percent of newer formats
how can you have such a precise calculation of such a nebulous concept as "newer formats", boomers are really overdramatic about everything aren´t you?
@@eldavid8774 nah this is just way more engaging
@@Skylerrelyks93 that doesnt really answer my question and if you like it good for you amigo but it really shows how some of you cant enjoy something without having to demean something else, that can´t be healthy
@@eldavid8774 It's just an approximation, it's nebulous by design. Why are you calling me a boomer?
@@Yous0147 a yes, sorry i just remembered that x is better than 90% of *insert new thing or genre i dont like* is just a common comment people like to put, still dont know dont know why people need to dislike something for them to enjoy something else these days, but i though you were being for real sorry brother
The best part of this is Doug explaining the relationship between Chaos, Warrior Box, and Rat-Box. Warrior box really struggles into Insect Knight and it’s the funniest interaction meanwhile Rat-Box has to consider a ton of bad cards to contest Sorc let alone BLS
As a Yugimillenial, hearing people talk about really old formats like this is always really bizarre lol
@@ashikjaman1940 Attack points where reasonably relevant with a bunch of various thresholds that needed to be met and the game was very much about tempo as you can see here. A very different playstyle.
@@ashikjaman1940 If you ever want to try GOAT I highly recommend Rat-Box bc you get to play three Gaia Power+literal vanillas and it goes super hard into the meta. 2400 beats over sorc and no one likes to 1 for 1 themselves with normal monsters
@@SquibbyJ imma keep it real with you, I don't think I could mentally handle seeing a Graceful Charity resolve lol
This was the most nail-biting duel I've seen in a long while, wish we had an official GOAT format in MD now
I loved seeing this, I played YGO in paper in high school (2004-2006 mostly) and remember almost all of these cards. The days of Kycoo, and Yata-lock, and even Delinquent Duo being busted. I'll watch all the GOAT format you can stand! And I'll definitely give other formats a shot as well. Thanks for reminding me of the days of playing on the school tables with my friends!
I can't believe doug interrupted and talked over MBT at the beginning I'm literally shaking rn
That was the most fun I've had watching one of your videos in a long time Doug. Really brings back good old memories where I can actually understand every single play unlike Saga or Roulette series.
Man, feels good to watch a yu-gi-oh video where i actually know what all the cards do
True
I absolutely love this and would love to see more of it! Every card draw feels so tense, because there's so many stupidly strong cards that can swap the pace of the game and even something like normal summoning a big beat-stick level 4 can be a good enough wall.
This was really awesome actually. 👌 would love to see more of this and different formats
In case people don’t know, there’s a thriving Goat Format community that does events both IRL and on DB with actually decent prizing and even a whole GP/Worlds circuit. It’s an evolving format, even with all of the knowledge we have about it today. Definitely worth checking out!
Legacy formats are super fun to watch too. Would love to see more of this in the future.
Getting to remember the good old days of dueling on campus is fun, but it also reminds me that I'm getting old.
Still, I thought this was some of the most suspenseful stuff I've seen recently!
The comebacks, the draws, the slow progression - you don't see that kind of drama in Yu-Gi-Oh! anymore!
Yeah, cuz everything pretty much decided when you know what deck your opp is using nowadays
@@yoshitokiyuuki2370 are you really gonna ignore magical scientist ftk and yata lock decks that killed every other deck the old days?
@@eldavid8774 Magical scientist wasn't problematic in goat because of the fusion monsters back then. The yata lock isn't even powerful, it's very easy to play around. The killer cards were actually sangan, Witch, Jinzo Don zaloog, floaters plus the power og spell/trap cards. Chaos was on a league of it's own, yata lock only works with CED. Chaos sorc and CED by themselves felt more problematic than the yata lock itself.
@@killuafan4365 i didnt say goat, we were talking nowadays with the past, apparently in mr yuukis mind every deck was equal in the "good old days" which seemed silly to me thats all
@@eldavid8774 the only tier 0 deck was chaos. The broken cards were hand rips and power cards. Jinzo, witch, last will, sangan were all playable in every deck. It was definitely more healthy but not as good as edison. It had a high barrier due to cost but deck building was a lot better back then. Plus there was less power creeep.
Loved the back and forth gameplay there. Don’t get to see that very often these days so that was refreshing
This is my favorite type of yugioh. It's the most "fair" and fun yugioh.
This is so much closer and better than I expected, I would love to see more retro formats
Mbt doesn't have plot armour in og Yu-Gi-Oh it seems... Was very fun to watch would love to see more of this kind of games
I think that once the full banlist is freed, Master Duel GOAT could be a neat “new” format. I wonder what decks benefit from modern rulings and erratas.
I wonder how Konami will handle “old school formats” if they do any as festivals in master duel. They did a legacy duels format in Duel Links where they just curated a list of legal cards in the series for a Duelist Kingdom up until the paradox brothers format. You also got a skill that let you tribute summon in addition to your normal for the turn. So as you can imagine, blue eyes was one of the most powerful decks. Extremely curated list of legal cards and on top of that, the limited system in duel links also kept some more powerful cards at bay. It was still fun though.
We need more of these videos. such a fantastic format, even if it’s not complete yet.
Yeah that shit was hype. Its the only format where Doug stands a chance since he actually knows what cards do.
I actually think Master Duel modified Goat format would be a super fun tournament. Sucks that some decks aren't playable but it'd be cool to see what that does to the format, if it opens it up at all or if it becomes more limited.
Yugioh needs some sort of draft format within a limited card pool. Something like Battlepack 3 would be so fun
That's what makes old school Yu-Gi-Oh some much fun it literally just takes one card to change the game.
Yes I don't need sleep
I wish Konami would just make a GOAT format room/ladder in Master duel
The crazy thing is MBT is right on how to pronounce Dekoichi.
One of the best videos so far, keep it up
This was super fun to watch and I would watch more of just this format or any of the other older formats.
This looked like my middle school duels from 2006
This was really enjoyable, took me back in time with some great memories, ty ❤️ Hope to see more of those kind of videos 🙏🏻
This was a super fun vid to watch! I hope you guys do more of this format!
There's a lot more "Heart of the Cards" in older formats compared to modern stuff. Modern day it's basically "Draw your 1 card combo or die" but in old formats it's very much "None of my grandpa's cards are pathetic!!"
you are arguing old formats are better because they are more luck based?, i though people said they were more skill based, you boomers are really strange, " i cant make 20 year old anime references game bad" certainly is a funny argument
Dzeeff never lose, he just play the wrong format. Dzeeff is powerful in GOAT Format.
True. He has the old Yu-Gi-Oh in his heart 2005 and under.
VERY fun back-and-forth games, super enjoyable watch
Absolutely yes I'd love to see this stuff again, I was glued to the screen without noticing
“There’s an I in there”
-MBT talking about dekoichi
Guess he pronounces koi fish, “ko e fish”
Well that is how japanese works. You would pronounce the I like MBT does. But while Dekoichi sounds Japanese to me it could be something else in which case idk lol. I think it's named after a real train or something?
@@TheRedScizor apparently it’s from a steam engine locomotive that’s called DE-51 so it would be De ko ichi. Damn rare MBT W for pronouncing things. Thanks for the learn
I genuinely enjoyed this calm SLOW back and forth
stumbling through a lot of old formats with this wierd list of master duel could be really fun
So Doug finally won a match so that he can lose the next 10 rounds of roulette. Classic!
I've been itching to just see some yugitubers play casual goat, it's so chill and fun to watch
Doug was correct when he said the next card that he will draw will turn the duel around.
So much fun I love old school games it's not complicated ❤️😍
This is better than watching my opponent play so many cards he times out 😂😂😂😂 we need a discord so we can get Goat format duels
13:00 so cute when they both do the same gesture
This was so entertaining! Would love to see more of this format against other creators!
Now I understand why this is called G.O.A.T. format, the resource management makes the games so much more fun and interesting.
You guys have officially brought back some inspiration for me. I’m actually making a legal old school deck
Yeah I would love to see more of the older formats, Go for it Doug👍
I think you guys are such a great comedy compliment. Hope your having as much fun making the vids as the audience is having watching them👍
Super fun episode, thank you!
MBT: I call it De-ko-ichi because there's an I in there.
Everyone else: Yes, that's why it's called De-koi-chi
Me thinking... That actually looked finally like an actual fun game... Ups and downs, comebacks and barely going over or under the winning point by 100LP... Followed by... "That was a disaster of a game"...
I remembered for a second when I used to have fun with this game...
If card like snatch steal was in GOAT format, Doug should really destroy the equip with mst after resolve bcs they might just have a tribute monster for it.
I need more of this for real
Damn these were intense to watch
Damn, when there's so little to read he isn't as bad.
i wish master duel would let us play old formats
Really wish they would support things like this more directly in Master Duel
I really enjoyed this. I'd love to see more old school formats.
I love these slow grindy old school games, personally. Would be cool to see more.
Please keep the series with Joseph, love you both. Farfa could react and participate in this one as well like Joseph in Saga
DOUG WON A MATCH!!! Holy shit, everybody pull out the champagne, blow the horns of victory, our man has done the impossible and won a match against Joseph!!!!
love how force of habit Doug went to surrender then realised you're not getting OTK'd in GOAT.
Chaos Thunder Dragon 1.0 vs. Warrior Toolbox. Nice.
That was awesome, glad you guys had fun too would love to see more old school showdowns
This is how yugioh was meant to be played. Best video so far
This is the YuGiOh I remember: getting rolled over by beatsticks while being forced to set one pass ever turn 😍
But jokes aside, these were some really fun matches.
This is infinitely better than my last 100 matches in master duel
I can't believe he actually did it again, thank you it made my day
That opening hand of Dzeeff's in game 2 made me activate my effect. :) So strong!
Please let this series take off so Konami sees that we would play legacy formats!
im so glad that i got to see doug beat mbt for like the first time
This was such a cool episode, hope you do more formats
Back in the day if we wanted a ‘big beater’ we played Zombrya the Dark or GAF because they’re searchable with ROTA and open up Skill Drain plays, but I’m assuming modern Goat has moved past that? I should really see if I can get into it.
Awesome. Yes to Tengu plants and Edison.
Your MD videos with MBT and Farfa are the best fun dueling videos currently being posted. I gave up on Prog.
its great seeing the resource management in keeping cards in your hand to specifically play around backrow destruction and how all 3 of these games are won solely off a bullshit top deck. 🤣
Hella fun to watch. Would love to see more of these pseudo format vids.
Goat format without goat format
love this format
Gage and Cimo look really different in this episode of progression
Never thought I would ever hear "I win with Sinister Serpent!" 😆
Ah, as a pronunciation nerd I appreciate the puns related to card name pronunciation lmao.
Can't wait until they let us craft Delinquent Duo, Confiscation and Painful Choice lol
THIS!
THIS is how Yu-Gi-Oh! was meant to look like!
Back and forth, conflicting combos, monsters battling it out, spells and trap cards mattering!
It will never be this good again.
yugioh looked nothing like this in the manga either, you cant just decide what you is "meant to be" when it changes so often and has gone throug so many hands, i swear some players are so entitled
Watching this and having no clue how Goat works stressed me out. Like seeing Dzeef drop a thunder and pick up both instead of doing one at a time genuinely had me questioning why you would do that until the graceful got put into the equation
This was a great video, I'd like to see more old school but with different deck types or maybe even character decks
Fun fact you could craft ban cards but only ban cards that got ban after the game came out
Very cool. People already suggested by player going first could go second and the other player could just immediately end first turn
I’m just happy Dzeeff won for once
This was a lot of fun
This was GREAT, I DO want to see more like it
Nice to see doug win a match for a change
Doug actually won best out of 3!?!
