The problem is that "missions" is unquestionably a calling. Everyone is called to be a witness by their lifestyle, but I think a significantly smaller few are called to any sort of vocational missionary situation. Or perhaps the truth is actually "I have seen a lot of people be 'missionaries' who were unquestionably NOT called or gifted to do so." The result of 'bad' missions is weak faith or outright cynicism among those who were 'missioned to'.
Those who are called to it though, they begin entire subcultures which are both self-sustaining and also grow and develop into an identity. Those are the ones who were called to it.

Now at 24 and having looked over the many groups, I've heard the calling and want to convert to become Orthodox. I see a lot of arguing in the comments about the "right" denomination. I just want to warn you brothers and sisters that there is no perfect church here on earth, we see this in the Bible, Paul often wrote to the churches on what they were doing wrong. Your denomination doesn't merit eternal salvation, but only through trusting the blood of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins if we repent and turn away from sin. The Bible says you will know a believer by their fruit, not by their denomination. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. In James 2 it says faith without works is dead, examine yourself brothers and sisters to see if you are in the faith. Jesus said if you love me you will keep my commandments.

Orthodoxy brought me closer to God. Toward the end of my time as a protestant I had enough of the 'clap for Jesus' and unnecessary feelgood-ism from preachers in rock bands. I grew tired of the church liberalising, making concessions for degenerate behaviour and twisting Old Testament scripture to justify their support of ungodly z__nism. I am so grateful for my Serb friend encouraging me to attend the Divine Liturgy at an Orthodox Church where I live in Western Australia. After experiencing such a strong presence of the Holy Spirit at that first liturgy, I felt as if I had been robbed of such a special connection with the Lord for the first 20 years of my life.
As a protestant, my faith was faltering and I became woefully uninterested in attending church - I wasn't interested in gritting my teeth anymore through corny, modern biblical analogies in sermons that sometimes made me cringe and offered little spiritual substance. Pray for these people to open their eyes and repent of their performative and sometimes commercialised worship.
All glory to God for transforming my lukewarm faith through Orthodoxy. Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me, a sinner.
EDIT: I'm of the firm opinion that trad christians with big followings on the internet posting content like you do have genuinely saved more souls than any missionary has by going to a derelict tribal wilderness with a handful of bibles.

Imagine missing the irony of stating ‘a house cannot be divided against itself’ while being in one of 40,000 ‘Christian’ sects that came about very late in history, which don’t agree with one another. What could Protestantism be thought of other than a multiplicity of divisions? Christ established His Church 2,000 years ago, and you are indirectly correct, it is not divided; it is the One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church-or the Orthodox Church for short.
