Bots like Huge and Ripperoni are what truly makes me love Battlebots. Seeing underdog bots that everybody thought as "joke" absolutely dominating the competition.
Aha, I'll chime in to say people were def aware of the potential Ripperoni threat. They'd been tearing up lower weight classes with Lil' Rip, to hone the design. They have a fun vibe, but builders weren't seeing the weapon as a joke, trust me!
the size of the blade is probably a huge key, to its threat - it's hard for other bots to get away from those or to deal damage without getting hurt bad in the process, and it's very nimble with versatile wheels for its size.
I'm just so glad that HUGE was able to fight a bunch of small vertical spinners this year. That overall concept has been dominant for so long, and HUGE was built as a hard counter to it.
Huge itself is a vertical spinner but I guess what's refreshing about it is that it's unlike most bots which try to have the least ground clearance to get under their opponent.
@@jawad7284 And I just find the concept of huge more fun in general because it jump around and somehow combo other bots when it's got a good position instead of being the generic small vacum cleaner tank
There is a bot predated Huge I can't remember the name has almost everything like Huge except the weapon. I'm saying that Huge was built on the existing design except it's hugely refined and improved again and again after matches, now I can say that we have a vertical Tombstone.
Starchild have same problem like mammoth. If you tie your main weapon to your main body swinging. Once that fails you, you basically lose the fight. Also make it hard to control/being agile. Huge make the right design having that 2 extra arm to make the body stable and more controllable. Also have simple slim body with only one solid weapon. That's why they so dominant.
not to mention the reach of the blades - potentially the largest I've seen. And they can technically work and from and behind the bot. Thus they've maximised the area of impact possible and given such durable flexibility to the wheels that it's hard to get away from the weapon or neutralise it.
When HUGE first showed up in season 3, everyone thought it was going to be a joke bot. Nobody's laughing now... apart from Jonathan Schultz and his team.
size DOES matter, if you know how to use it! what i like most about huge, is that it used to be useless troll-bot, but they improved it up to championship level. most people give up after couple attempts and have no idea how to improve, but huge has come a long way. such unique design aswell. i always thought it would be good to have spinner in middle and then they finally put one, look at it now, ripping thru its competition
@@madwolf4815 I can definitely see why you think hypno disc would win but seriously it was already outdated by series six and was mostly made out of aluminium and its weapon was pretty light weight and slow. Plus huges blade is pretty low to ground, unless your bots made paper thin it’s gonna get hit. And lastly the Tegris wheels(the black ones)I don’t think have ever really broke against a horizontal yet since they just bend out of the way of hits while still being tough.
Huge managed to go deep in the last season also because its hard counter, those hortizontal spinners, couldn't go deep now because they were all elinimated early by other vertical spinners.
I am a frequent commentor on battlebots and this is the first time I have seen so many bots here. What's even the point of botting here where even top comments barely gets 100 likes.
The Starchild style bot came even before Huge I think, but in Gabriel. It needs better scaling to the heavy weight format. It works reasonably well in lighter classes but was not quite as effective as a Huge style bot

The tires on huge look extremely vulnerable to me. Why did the competition always go straight into its weapon rather than chip away at its tires from the outside?
They try, Huge's driver is just hugely skilled. Older matches featured Huge having its wheels cut to ribbons. It was still able to move. So there is also the fact that those wheels can be deceivingly durable in the right context.
@@willyvereb The wheels are flexible so the can take a hit but they are a good target, But Huge has some insane turning that it harder to get on the side of it then people think.

Yeah, at some point, drum spinners get boring.

Every battlebot be like: it's scientifically proven that the bots with low center of gravity is the better bot.
Huge: Anakin, I have the high ground
HUGE. Such a creative design and delivers such huge blows to its opponents. An absolutely brilliant machine.
The wheels made it reliable and almost gave him the giant nut
Really great that they fixed its wheels too. In earlier seasons they would get minced within the first 30 seconds and Huge would just limp around.

the self righting mechanism is also lowkey genius. Also one of the few bots where you get hurt from front and back.
@5:02 having the shrapnel thrown at him and not even flinching is insane, my man's head is -in- his bot right now.
He's too focused ..
I think, it was too late to scare. He still alife and can continue the fight.

@furrystation you here? Unexpected see you here. Im a sub
great to see a new design that isn't just a squat box with a lever to right itself up, vs a spinner.

Huge had a great campaign in BB7. One of the most uniquely designed robots in the sport.

Starchild's weapon being timing based makes it so much more difficult to land shots than it is for Huge, and they're not even as powerful
What a great driver he is.
What a great and thoughtful design the 'Huge' has got! It's really fun to watch it fight with the other 'struggling'(lol) bots.
When HUGE first showed up in season 3, everyone thought it was going to be a joke bot.
Nobody's laughing now... apart from Jonathan Schultz and his team.
wow, copperhead really ran the gauntlet that year, 1st endgame then riptide and huge finished what was left of them.
Despite the loss, I think another Giant Nut of the same year should be made and given to HUGE as well. I would've called the final battle a tie.
1. SawBlaze
2. End Game

Usually watch Robot wars the equivalent in the UK. Never seen anything like Huge over here. What an awesome bot.
(cough) Gabriel (cough)
I love that the concept of robot wars is still going all these years later. I’ve watched some battle bots and they could be the same robots.
8:41 this hat throw was CRAZY!
The way HUGE sustains damage and keeps going is its most interesting feature to me.
You know you've made it big when another bot like Starchild directly rips you off. Unsuccessfully

I ♥️ unique Bots like Huge
I am surprised everytime how well Huge does.
Love that Huge BatteBot!!
Such a cool bot!
I'm an addict I NEED A NEW SEASON 😩😩
No
Guess what, I've got a fever and the only prescription is more Battlebots

among the giants that ever fought in the arena, HUGE was able to fight toe to toe against the contenders

Huge vs Hypno Disc would be an interesting fight 😅
I'm putting my money on hypno disc
It would probably be a complete slaughter as hypno is 20 years out of date:/

Servus BB, Huge is simply brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we're about 20 years away from having android fights
huge (why didn't he do the skorpios strat in the Sawblaze fight he would have been the world champ?)
Fight Huge VS Starchild remembers me to when Shinji's Eva goes berserker and eats a whole Angel like a breakfast🤣🤣🤣🤣. Its brutal.
this should become another Olympic sport for LA'28
Can't wait for 2024 Season
wow it's amazing
Looks just like Gabriel from Robot Wars.
HUGE ❤
that one worked well i'd say
amazing
Good job
Most destructive is a funny title when you see icewave destroy huge in only 10 sec
Considering that Icewave has a horizontal spinner it would make sense why they'd beat huge easily
The hypnodisc would have destroyed them both

That was good
huge is a bit more fun to watch fight than tombstone

Although I'm not sure, but I think tombstone was the reason there was a limit on tip speed, thereby limiting rpm and weapon size

Huge's wheels are specially designed to deflect attacks, and also vertical spinners are almost useless against the wheels of Huge
