Brass playing at its finest. To be a bit vulnerable I have been struggling, both professionally and personally, lately. I make it a habit to listen to at least one Barclay Brass upload each week, as I am fatally addicted to Bach on brass. All of David Miller's Bach transcriptions are great, but this one, in my opinion, is by far his best, and one of the best I've heard to date of this piece. The weaving in and out of the "voices" as the music builds in intensity produces what I think is a truly unique performance. As for that powerful ending chord, the flawless intonation and the octave spread (thanks to the piccolo trumpet sitting high above the tuba) produce an organ-like sound that cannot be explained, only appreciated. ☻
