I agree. the two are superb. Incidentally I notice in the last movement the soprano stands near the organ player. It's not a duet since she provides the chorale melody. She moves to the background.

Thank God I don't have to travel to listen to this master piece. Feels like sitting in the Church listening Buxtehude playing for Abendmusik. I am in tears for the sheer purity, of course that includes Lutz, Organist, Nuria Rial, Noack and all the musicians.
I am Catholic. Once, Lutheran---as my parents were from Finland. But I must say, Bach is number one, for me. Simply the greatest of all composers. His cantatas are so full of joy and hope. And I LOVE Sibelius! Yet, even so, Bach is untouchable. He is entirely in his own remote, even cosmic, sphere, supreme in the "music of the spheres". It has been said to me that Bach received inspiration from the planets: specifically, Jupiter, in fact. A connection which Bach received from the "Being" (---"Beings"----), there, that was (is) coordinate with the Intelligence and Mind of the Universe. Music of Logos. There is no HIGHER.
The most human face of music, humanist, humane, the apogee of human genius---is without question, Mozart. But, even, Glenn Gould did not like Mozart, very much; and considered him somewhat vulgar; and he was especially critical of, what was: Mozart's hedonism; in his own words, Glenn Gould called Mozart, "hedonistic". As do I. Mozart's being the greatest human genius, aside. For Glenn Gould, as it is for me---Bach reigns SUPREME. He is the ULTIMATE, the SUMMIT, in all of music. He channeled GOD. In contrast, Mozart was a Freemason, and a Rosicrucian. He was a Gnostic and esotericist; and, I beg: occultic, Satanic. There is something deeply, dark, and disturbing---even, demonic---in his music. Listen to Mozart's 'Requiem". "The Magic Flute" is an allegory based on the Rites of Masonry. It is the musical parallel of Satanism. And expressive of Lucifer's musical tone. But what music! So sad to know the truth of its origin---its genuine inspiration. Evil. Glenn Gould may not have know this, or understood what we know, today, but he definitely FELT it. The degeneracy, the depravity, hidden, concealed---obscured---in its depths. That is why Bach is MASTERY of another kind (CHRIST---LOGOS, WORD, the SOUND--AMEN----and MUSIC of the SPHERES): INFINITE, ETERNAL---PURE, HOLY, SACRED---SANCTIFIED and GOOD.
One must also not separate the MAN from the MUSIC. For they go hand in hand. Mozart was an almost frivolous personality: lighthearted, flippant, giggling, sensual, hedonistic, and inordinately sexed and licentious; and, while: absolutely, completely, serious about his music---he was a man who loved to write in his letters jokes about (and in all manner of his speech jest about)----"shit", and "shitting"---much like Rabelais (who I refuse to read, and consider his writing to be "refuse"), another Aquarian----and was obsessed with scatology. Hence, his prevalence for scatological jokes. Much like Martin Luther, too. Although Luther was Scorpio---hence his highly sexed nature, and prevalence for sex. We cannot say this of Bach. This MAN was Aries. He was the ONE. He was PURE. And as I AM, the ONE, the ABSOLUTE, in musical terms, the FIRST and the LAST, in every WORD having to do with MUSIC: the BEGINNING and the END: and the ALPHA AND OMEGA of ALL MUSIC. Both, Father and Mother. This MAN. HE---WHO was ONE with LOGOS.
IT was why Sibelius never wrote any spiritual, religiously Christian, canonical music, any sacred music, in fact. A rather timid and harsh restraint (---one self-imposed----), perhaps. But not entirely indefensible one. He declared that Bach had already, before him, done everything that was considered to any more possible in this genre. The SUMMIT, no less. It had peaked with Bach, and one has never, again, nor after, scaled to such heights. Sibelius was a wise one, and, characteristically, a perfectionist. He could not tolerate to be second best--not to anyone. Hence, he avoided it altogether, so as not to be compared to Bach. Wise move. Sibelius will always be the number one symphonic composer, for me. I am sure that Glenn Gould would reciprocate. After all---he chose as the only one piece of music he would take to a desert isle---Sibelius', Fifth Symphony. High praise, indeed! For someone who was a "Bach aficionado" in the purest, truest, and most exalted and highest sense. Which is, after all is said and done---(of) GOD.
