THAT IS WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR! A professional with extensive knowledge and experience saying what I suspected all along about the Daimler V8 vs XK engine. Daimler seems to have developed a stodgy imagine as the unloved stepson of Jaguar / William Lyons while Jaguar continued to convey an image of suave sophistication. It really is a bit like Rolls-Royce and Bentley circa the late 1980s when Bentley pulled ahead of Rolls-Royce in terms of being an understated driver's car. Always great stuff, Derek, thank you!!!!
I agree, wide wheels = naff, but lovely in old English White, my dad had one when I was about 7/10, oooo not sure about he red interior,,, along with wheels bit golf club
A rare Daimler 250 with a manual box, only 60 produced? As a '68/69 model a number of things not quite right, it has the wrong bumpers, it should have narrow chrome ones and a previous owner has changed the top of the fascia, it should have the later black padded one, the one big change, the engine has been uprated and had a pair of 2" HS8 Carbs fitted, sounds throaty! Oh those wheels look ghastly. I'd prefer the original steering wheel, just makes it look more classy.
I owned a mark 2 jaguar it was a 1964 3.8 automatic with power steering it had belonged to chivas regal whiskey it had been chauffeured driven since new when I bought it in 1976 I had only 43 thousand miles on the clock and a full jaguar service history I paid tha massive amount of £700 for it and in my personal opinion it was a far better looking car than the Daimler unfortunately a french lorry driver pulled out of his lane on the motorway going into Glasgow and smashed my magnificent jaguar to bits best car I’ve ever owned and I’ve owned a lot of cars in my life
Yeah, those rear arches need to be binned.
And the crappy rims

Beautiful car, love Derek's videos, so informative... 👍🏼
I would love ❤ to have one, I love ❤ the lines of it, I live in California. I would love it.
I have owned a couple of Jags and Rovers with slightly noisy manual gearboxes, and they never actually caused any problems, I just lived with it.
very honest appraisal, what doesn’t this man know?
Very rare as a manual gearbox

A nice motor with a bit of work
Shouldn't this car have the thin bumpers on this year?
Wrong bumpers for a 250, they had the narrow (single) bumpers.
Late 1968 onwards, yes. Before that they had the bigger bumpers.
@@brendanprice8349 the bigger bumpers came first, then the narrow ones.
EE GREAT
Every one a winner big old bus little bit of noise most of it from the old fart in the driving seat
Wheels are nasty.
