I come from an era of the exhaust bandage. Lost count of how many times I did this. I suppose these days exhausts are cheaper and people have more money, but back then it was quite common to use a bandage. Then again it was also quite common to use a metal coat hanger to fix a broken radio aerial!
@rogue Then again, back in the old days you could swap out the entire exhaust system for a Beetle in like 15 minutes. No catalytic converter or O2 sensors to screw around with either. :D
We all did that - I did in the 80s when I got my first car. Rotten exhaust or silencer? Straight out for a tub of exhaust gum and I didn't stop until I had finished the tin off.
leaving the engine on idle to warm your car is the main culprit, exhaust heats up, then cools down, water condenses and then sits there, when you drive, the water does not get a chance to condense and is evaporated, pls continue to leave your car there to warm up, which ALSO does not do anything but ruin your engine, all manufacturer manual say, start car and drive straight away
If Inspector Gadget says it's OK! Then it's OK! Seriously, those repairs look dodgy as all heck! And that's the quality of cars from *"the good old days"* that older folks pine about.
It's not the quality of the cars they "pine" about its the memories and nostalgia related to the vehicles. TO suggest people "pine" for unreliable cars is preposterous
What is that? Flex tape colorized footage? Really poor job fixing something that is way gone already. Can't believe shops waste the time doing such crappy fixes.

Did the same repairs on my cortina back in the day!👌
Thank goodness for stainless steel exhausts...now we don't have to replace them every 3 years like the old days!

Nice Opel Manta!
Like Rocking Horse shit now..😀😀
Nice mk2 Escort and Maxi also.
When he said a small repair I thought he meant a few pinholes, not half the pipe missing!
Harry knows his onions though 😅
It was more for demonstration purposes. The way the pipe had rotted it was perfect to show how the repair works
I thought that 🤣🤣🤣
Those repairs looked like full-on bodging!

The masters of Bodge.
@Sodham G'morris not forgetting the classic drinks cans, cut up, flattened out and held in place with masses of filler
Never stopped motorbikes exhausts been well over the limit.

It's Alan Partridge again.

Ah, so Brexit will allow louder exhausts again then ?
@@deiniolbythynnwr926 Nature always wins by killing off the weakest eventually, so no need to worry. 😅
