I met this guy in person when he came to Youngstown, Ohio, when WWF, at that time, did a show there. He was on the road with the Iron Sheek. That was back in 1992.
Jacques is so right. The current era doesn't even come close to comparing to his era and the Hulkamania years. That was a time when wrestlers were larger than life. Nowadays some of the roster members in AEW, and WWE to a lesser extent, look like my paper boy could kick their asses! Its become a shell of what it used to be. Jacques Rougeau's era did it at a time when it was a much tougher haul to be a pro wrestler on the road every night and those men and women paved the way, all so this generation we have now could coast while bastardizing the formula. No characters or storylines anymore that are compelling, no long build, no selling, no ring psychology, no rhyme or reason for anything. Nowadays a Piledriver and a DDT are transitional moves when they used to be the most devastating finishers around. They practically need a goddamn tank and a wrecking ball to finally get the pin on an opponent today! Less used to mean more. On a sidenote: that debut match pitting The Rougeau Brothers Vs. The Moondogs in Australia can be seen on Coliseum Video's Best of the WWF Volume 7. Also, that's true about WrestleMania VII and Sgt. Slaughter causing nuclear heat. Slaughter himself has said that he and his family were getting death threats to the point where he had to travel with security and his family had to be moved out of the home they lived in for a period of time. Great interview!!
Back then, to be a wrestler means an honor. During those years, you had to know the psychology, value, and passion for the business. Plus, to be a wrestler, you had to weigh at least 205 lbs and the height the lowest was 5'8. Now you see guys that are 5'6 or most of them now 150 to 170 lbs. It's ridiculous. Nick Wayne for example is 6'1 and 162 lbs and he's not even 18 yet but they put him over a lot of veterans and top preformers. I understand his dad was a pro wrestler. But if Nick Wayne was wrestling 20 to 30 years ago, the wrestlers including the cruiserweights would made him eat shit. That's a fact.
Terrific interview with Jacques 👍 He has such a great positive spirit and it’s very entertaining to listen to him. Hopefully you’ll get him back on to chat for another hour and dig into even more stories.
This was really cool I've been up late from the NHL Playoff games. I always laugh at Mounties as they were Dudley Do Right to me. Hulk Hogan I know a few stories from guys who have met him :). Wrestling is like a movie. Imagine if DArth Maul refused to job to Qui Gon. Then they claim its a rigged thing ;)? Brett Hart like all the Wrestlers who made those famous confessions on those videos never won anything. He failed the company as champion. So Vince saved it for getting rid of him to WCW. Then he faked an injury when fell doing a move Goldberg should have never allowed him to do. That figure four on the outside on the ring guy fell banging his head. He was not even MId Card level talent showing WWF makes the STar or Man etc ;).
This is absolutely the reason why I have no respect for the WWE hall of fame. It shouldn't be Personal . It should be all about what you did in the ring and not your relationship with Vince McMahon. True wrestling fans already know who belongs in the hall of fame and who doesn't. And we will never respect The way vince does it

Currently setting that up.
Jacques rules, was just on a shoot binge of his content a few weeks ago; great timing!
this was a great interview
He really played his role well, never would have imagined as a kid him being such a laid back guy IRL
such an entertaining ep. Thank you and this content brought me back to my childhood. Also, we need him in hof
Bret Hart may have been the excellence of execution..but that gentleman there was the excellence of ELECTROCUTION!
Jacques rougeau and Raymond rougeau need to go into the hall of fame
Raymond only
i only watch WWF VHS and DVDs... not WWE.
During the Golden Era, 1991 was the year that was the most over the top.
No hall of fame, but I downloaded The Mountie characters in the game ever since :)

Amen 🙏🙏🙏
Amen 🙏🙏🙏
When he says 30 years he probably doesn't actually mean 30 he just means it's a long time since he watched WWE
HE'S NOT THE MOUNTIE!!!!!
It's not even real so why does it matter??? I thought people stopped watching wresting when they started grade 9
