Paw Paw I have the viking charger. The smart charger with the repair and winter mode. I used to to bring back my truck batter when is only had 1,5 volts in the battery. It took awhile for it to charge. The voltage amp display is really nice. Once I got the battery up to around 12 volts. I switched it over to the automatic charge and let it run. I let it run over night. The next day when it was complacently charged it shut off automatically. It also brought the battery back to new condition with a full 15 volts charge. So it can save old batteries so you do not have to replace them. It gives you a lot more life out of them. Great product. If the charger is defective just bring it back to Harbor freight and they will give you a new one. My cousin is the general manager of my local harbor freight and he bought one to and loves it. Also the normal sell for 70 dollars US, but if you keep your receipt they usually come on sale quite a bit for 50 Dollars US. Bring your receipt into them with the flyer or online coupon and they will give your the difference int cash. Also if you are in Canada you can purchase the same charger maybe under a slightly different label from Princess Auto. The have the same products as Harbor Freight does. Only the are in Canada not the US.
Thanks PawPaw! You saved me from making a mistake! My Jeep battery is totally drained after traveling internationally for 3 months - no volts - and I almost bought the Cen-tech! And you are correct! It will not charge unless it detects a battery charge through cable connection! You “northerners” up in Tennessee - down here in Texas 32 F one day and 80 F next day is normal winter! 😂🤣😂

That would be a problem for me to have a Battery Charger that wont charge if it cant detect voltage . Thank You. I have sold many a different Brands and models while working for all of the Auto Part Stores and had never heard of that. Thats nice to know Paw Paw.
My Pop has a battery charger from the late 60’s and it still works just fine. I don’t know the maker, but it’s never failed us yet to this day.🇺🇸

Well! That explains a lot! The damn sticker on top of the friggin thing says clamps unpowered! I guess I'm going to have to go back to school and learn Chenglish! Because I can't make a bit of since out of what they are saying!
That sells for $59.99 here in Columbus, OH. I'll look for a 20% coupon. That's great that it shuts off. On my old craftsman, the analog current indicator drops to low current but, it doesn't shut off completely. Thanks PawPaw 👍
That truck engine sounds good for a cold start. My brother-in-law had one that had a lot of lifter noise that went away after a few minutes of warming up. It's sort of crazy because he's an honest guy, but warmed that truck up right before the guy showed up to look at it. I'm sure the buyer wasn't happy when he started it up the next morning.

There are several chargers out there that use this microchip and basic layout and function. Ampeak from Amazon, Battery Tender from Lowes, PowerTop also on Amazon. I think the Viking model from Harbor freight is the best deal. Nice review!

So I have the centech I do like the jumpstart feature and I have the new small microprocessor 2amp centech as well I have ran into the same problem with both on them sensing the battery, so I learned how to trick them with a good battery out of my lawn mower now I couldn’t be happier although I do want the Viking products have friends who love Viking.

Golf cart charger in Florida same. Gone for a 3 month period . Return it’s dead. Have to use a direct voltage charger to put same juice in it for a hour then go to your golf cart charger. Why would you run a battery to ZERO anyhow?
Same thing happened to my centechlast week..have to throw jumper cables on a battery for a few min to get it to read voltage
Watch the one where I FORCE it to work. I did a mod on it. Works great !!

Back before texting you would never call after 10pm or before 8am unless it was a family member and an emergency. Now with texting I get strangers texting me at all hours of the night about stuff I may have listed on classifieds. 4:00am was just yesterday and this is pretty common! Do they expect a response?
I have to put hours of contact in my listings. I ignore any contacts outside of those hours. If they are too dumb to read, they are too broke to buy.............. but I will still give your money back on that driveway lift !!! LOL !!!

Oh come on PawPaw! Get them brake lights fixed!! You can fool that charger into charging just by hooking up your AAADUUUU!! Harbor also has those digital battery maintainer/charger. 22 dollars with a coupon........i have three..... one one each bike and one on my tractor!! Excellent!!
Okay I finally got finish watching after the live stream. I have Optima batteries and the charger that they make. It cost me 100 bucks but well worth it. Think I'll pick up one can't have to many chargers

Had a centech and tried to use the 50a start feature, no go, started smoking and then a loud pop with fire shooting out of the top, almost didn’t get it off the front of the truck.

I’ve never had a problem with them. Some I’ve had for ages.
They all work on a battery that is just low but not completely dead. I want my charger to charge up a completely dead battery that has been in the garage for ten years unused.
I found this out after exchanging one and then calling customer service when the second one didn't work lol it'll work for me since I can leave it charging all night and it switches to 2amp after charged. Does the other one shut off or switch to trickle after charged?

My car is parked on the street so I don’t have access to an outlet. Can anyone recommend a mobile charger?
You would just be asking another battery to put a charge into your dead one. Take the battery out of the car and bring it inside to a charger or jump start it and drive to Walmart or wherever and buy a battery. They do make a solar panel to maintain a charge on your battery, but it won't charge up a dead battery.
