  • When this video goes live, I will have put about 350-miles on the truck and new engine... so far it's been a trouble-free break-in period and I do enjoy having a realistic four wheeled option to get to work once again.

    I knew you wouldn't be able to resist a bit of detailing, looking really good.

    Proud moment to see it fire up and running it's best in years. With very few extra parts left over it must good. Looking forward to seeing it make the next 200k

      Thanks Lloyd. It has been a huge relief to has this project off my plate and back in a truck that fits my current vehicle needs. I ended up finding the spot for that bracket (intake to engine mount).

    glad to see the old yota getting some love, I picked up a white 2000 tacoma base model with camper shell last summer that I couldn't be happier with. 302,000 and the only thing I had to do is a valve adjustment, the one thing that is really buggen me is it's missing rear bumper.

      I'm happy to get this rig back on the open road. This truck also was missing the rear bumper. Not even sure what a factory bumper looks like...lol The aftermarket bumpers didn't really interest me so I ended up fabricating the one that's on it now.

    Great job well done Beekeeper. Looks like a show truck now, complete with detailed engine bay !, nice.
    Don’t remember you mentioning why it originally failed, you said no compression, maybe timing chain, but, I would be interested to know what did fail.
    Great vids, keep em coming, I love this kind of stuff.

      Hey Kevin. The head gasket failed. It was leaking between cylinders and fortunately no coolant went anywhere but where it should have been. The rebuilder called and said because it failed with no overheat he could have just replaced the gasket...but I opted for him to continue with the full rebuild. I'm not really interested in doing this again any time soon to this truck.

      Oh no...AAAAAHHHHH !!! If you need to kill them off .. and it sounds like you do... your best bet is to do it either early in the morning or around dusk, that's when they tend to be the least active. Best of luck.

    I'm curious in the background, is that fog or smog??
    Doesn't have AC, that can be fun.
    This truck has definitely been through a lot and if it could talk, the stories it could tell about you and your personal life.

    • @yourbeekeeper
      @yourbeekeeper  2 года назад +1

      Yeah, if this truck could talk it would have some great stories for sure. It's fog in the background. I am very close to the Pacific Ocean and we tend to get fog in the mornings. It burns off fairly quickly as the day warms up. They call it Marine Influence.

    I think that bracket might just go under the intake to the block..

      As A Professional Mechanic I Would Have To Say You Are Probably Correct!!!
      Keep Rocking It Out!!!

    • @yourbeekeeper
      @yourbeekeeper  2 года назад +2

      You are 100% correct. Thank you. It attached to the engine mount and then to the under-side of the intake...I was stumped and called the engine builder to describe the bracket...he knew right away and now all is good under the hood.

      I had the same thing happen to me when I ordered a new radiator for my rusty 04 Colorado, with a manual transmission. It stumped me for a while and me being a paranoid 18 year old I eventually just sent it and eventually remembered the connections are separate anyway
