I only played ER on the steam deck(600hours ng+8 and 200hours pvp and coop) Unless you playing on docked, the game will run flat 30 98% of the time even on high. This gives around 2hours of playtime. Pretty good in my book.
Update for anyone who still enjoys this game 3.5 makes the game load way faster+easy on the cpu, also I used Santiago settings Do copy what he has, works and looks amazing.
I played 130 hours of Elden Ring on Steam Deck and performance is excellent for the most part, funny thing is the worst fps I experinced were in the early parts of the game but later on it gets way more stable. I was getting 60fps in The Haligtree area which is an endgame optional area while running the game on high settings.
I just run 720p no fsr all high and just accept that at times it will dip. But I'm surprised how little it does. Edit I'm using cryo utilities 2 wirh the 4gb for the gpu.

Playing with my deck with overclocked ram cpu and gpu and its given me considerable performance increases maybe you should give it a try. Im seeing a locked 40 throughout 90% of the game locked at 40hz and if i put the refresh to 60 im often getting 60 or mid to high 50s in a lot of less intensive places and low 50s mid 40s throughout
tone the res. down to 1152x720 and add fsr on the lowest level, it will more or less even out the dips below 30 and as crazy as it sounds, look better than 800p, at least in my opinion. why? i think the game has a weird and oversharpened look in native res. no clue what causes it, but it just looks strange and with the slightly lower res. it will look a bit softer and more natural, without looking pixelated.
Hey man don't know if you already know this but you can easily disable the black bar on top now without modding. Before starting the game change the resolution to 1280x720 and also tick the box under that says resolution for internal and external display. Then set the scaling mode to "stretch" after pressing the three dots menu on the deck.
I get about 40fps pretty much locked with most stlettings on low except textures and global ilum on high and shadows SSAO and AA on medium. I can't get 45 fps without changing global ilumination and that is a big nono as the flickering kills it for me.
tearing only happens when fps and screen refresh rates are miss matched by allot. if you lock your herts to the fps that can't happen and thus you dont need the extra processing power required to prevent tearing. Motion blur only really exists as a methode to hide very low fps. it often has been used as a crutch on poorly performing games, its also very unpopular among people that play games at a higher fps because your eyes dont really behave that way, ande often it just looks like your screen is covered in vacaline.

The real reason is the game already has vsync which prevents tearing. Having the deck screen tearing prevention just adds more input lag for no reason
Motion blur is a required option when playing at 30fps, and yes this game engine is trash
