No, Reeves's version here is not faithful to the source material, but Reeves's cynicism and burned-out attitude helped establish the character. Literally one of the most underrated movies ever. This is the real world. Supernatural warfare. DC comics can make dark comics and movies bc its more realistic af.
DC more realistic? No DC comic are generally not as realistic and tend to exist in a more heightened world. That's not a bad thing mind you, the DC characters are just more designed to be almost mythological figures, while Marvel characters are more down to earth and in a lot of ways are just people who get powers. Now a few DC characters can work in a more realistic setting, Constantine is one of them, Batman is another, but most DC characters don't fully work in that setting.
"What if I told you God and The Devil made a bet?" "I would tell you to stay on your meds" "Humour me. What if the God and The Devil made a bet for the souls of all humankind. No direct contact. Only inflience" "Okay why?" "I have no idea. Maybe for the fun of it" "Oh so its fun. Mother smothers her child, all just for fun?" Its been a while since I saw the movie, so forgive me for not repeating the conversion exactly, but its one of my favourite dialogue in movies. The conversation about a absent God and why, is a question I often wonder for myself, if God even exists, why does he allow evil?
Glad to see someone else likes Constantine. This movie has gotten a bad rap from its entire existence but if you just watch it as a fun popcorn flick it’s really entertaining.

What about Pacino?
Along side with Al Pacino in the Devil's Advocate and De Niro's Portrayal as Lucifer in Angel Heart.
I love it, but Lucifer from The Prophecy as played by Viggo Mortensen is my favorite
@@Feoktistovs oh, I haven't seen those I guess I'll need to add it to the list lol.
@@Badenhawk Watch both of these films, they are absolutely incredible! You will not be disappointed or at least I hope so! But they are nothing like Constantine, both Devils Advocate and Angel Heart are Psychological / Supernatural / Horror / Mystery films and you have to pay attention to the story fully to get the entire point of both films but they both are absolutely entertaining also, especially Devils Advocate. But they are entertaining in a more of eerie, unsettling and disturbing kind of way 😉
They definitely need a sequel to this movie!!
Nah not even a direct sequel - - It should be an anthology - Different story every movie
Would be kind of weird now. Keanu’s expressed interest but the TV Constantine is already beloved and incredibly faithful to his comic self. Which this movie- let’s face it- didn’t do.
or prequel
@@TheRealSlobo Outside of Reeves-Constantine’s attempted suicide? Would be difficult since Ryan’s version has already explored the Newcastle incident multiple times.
@@benwasserman8223 the period between death of Constantine and showing up in the word is enough time frame for prequel
Would like to see a second movie honestly.
My grandma was a devout Catholic, watched this movie with my brother. It became one of her favorite movies. So I got her the DVD for Christmas.
Neo: Woah, I know kung fu
Constantine: Woah, I know gunk fu
Wick: Woah I know gun fu
Keanu Reeves need to read out these lines just so we can make that into a gif.
And just like that, without us knowing, Keanu Reeves became the deadliest, most dangerous man in the world.
Ted: Whoa, excellent! *air guitar riff
When someone tells me they like Horror movies, Dog Soldiers is my favorite movie to introduce them to.
I'd love to see a second channel of Jeremy casually talking about the books, graphic novels, comics etc. he reads. Idk if that's just me tho
Same
I wanna see his record collection! He's mentioned owning vinyl several times.
He did have a few really long vlogs he was doing from before this year I believe. He kinda showed a lot of different stuff and talked about it in his house
Loving your October reviews Jeremy Jahns!
You nailed it with this one. I am really glad you decided to review it; definitely a guilty pleasure.
Constantine: “Close your eyes. And whatever happens, don't look.”
Wait another Keanu movie where there’s a neutral ground location where all of the good and bad guys are only allowed to hang out?
Literally one of the most underrated movies ever. This is the real world. Supernatural warfare. DC comics can make dark comics and movies bc its more realistic af.
Lol what??
DC more realistic? No DC comic are generally not as realistic and tend to exist in a more heightened world. That's not a bad thing mind you, the DC characters are just more designed to be almost mythological figures, while Marvel characters are more down to earth and in a lot of ways are just people who get powers. Now a few DC characters can work in a more realistic setting, Constantine is one of them, Batman is another, but most DC characters don't fully work in that setting.
That's a bit exaggerated, but it's a pretty entertaining movie
"What if I told you God and The Devil made a bet?"
"I would tell you to stay on your meds"
"Humour me. What if the God and The Devil made a bet for the souls of all humankind. No direct contact. Only inflience"
"Okay why?"
"I have no idea. Maybe for the fun of it"
"Oh so its fun. Mother smothers her child, all just for fun?"
Its been a while since I saw the movie, so forgive me for not repeating the conversion exactly, but its one of my favourite dialogue in movies. The conversation about a absent God and why, is a question I often wonder for myself, if God even exists, why does he allow evil?
Agree
Conclusion: Watch Keanu Reeves in this movie
Little did he know, nearly two years later
Constantine 2 gets announced
Constantine: one of the very few movies I keep on DVD for whenever the Internet is down.
Glad to see someone else likes Constantine. This movie has gotten a bad rap from its entire existence but if you just watch it as a fun popcorn flick it’s really entertaining.
It got a bad rap because it was based off the comic books. A lot of fans were bashing it because of the differences. The sad thing, it was actually a solid movie. I really love it.
Who was the angel actress... ah, yes, Tilda Swinton. She is the reason I am bi now.
She’s such a good actress and does wildly different things from one role to the next... like the crazy lady in Snowpiercer or the sexy immortal vampire in Only Lovers Left Alive.
I'm living for this comment, 😂👍
Can we just take a minute to appreciate how similar Jeremy looks to keanu's picture damm son
dope intro! Always consistent in quality and reviews.
Not even in hell you are safe from John Wick.
Funny things is that Peter Stormare was also in John Wick, the second one.
Hahaha.. 😂 Nice one.
Love you Daisy!!
