Lovely to see you all volunteering together and giving the training and donations to help the centre as well 👏🏻. Poor Poppy had such a horrific life and so glad she’s finally got the loving home she deserves with owners that will give her the love and care she should get 🐶❤️
Hi lovely Scott !I say that because you’re an animal ambassador.Thank all the people around the world that care for animals sending love Ann ❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧
Hi Dr Scott and team. What a great work you did visiting and helping out that Rescue center. There are so many good people that give so much to help other people and pets in need.
This is my favorite so far. Improve International sounds like a wonderful program and I was happy to learn of them. I’m so happy for Poppy. Her new dad looks wonderful.
Scott, that was so nice to see the other vets and Vet nurses, volunteering at the rescue and for them to offer a free course in Boaz. Surgery to the resident Vet there. The donation they gave was also really wonderful. This was a really inspiring video and I hope other vets and Vet nurses come on board and also take up the offer of the discounted courses for Vet.❤❤❤🙌🏻
Oh gosh you had me shedding many tears listening to Poppy's story. I just hope she will get so much love that her trauma will eventually be forgotten. Thanks you Dr Scott & team. ❤❤
What an amazing organization. Thank you for donating your time there. Poppy's story was so heartbreaking but she now will have new loving owners. Thank you Dr. Scott for all you do. Love this series.❤️🐈⬛❤️
So wonderful to see that little Poppy ran up to her new owner. May she enjoy her new home with plenty of treats just for her. Great video Scott. Merry Christmas to you all.
Thank all for your efforts to help animals. I know that veterinary is expensive. Had just paid one this month. But now my cute 14 years old cat is happy and healthy. Merry Christmas to all volunteer and the staff in the shelter❤
This was another wonderful and informative 12 Rescues of Christmas vlog! Thank you again for taking us along to see what an amazing organization this is, So happy Poppy has found her well deserved forever loving home.
The remembrance tree was Sad and Beautiful at the same time. Then you mentioned Betty and the damn broke 😢. Once I learned I could actually have my fur baby’s ashes back, I’ve kept them all. I’ll never be able to get rid of them. So not being ready to spread her ashes or wanting to keep Betty’s ashes is normal in my opinion. Thank you for all you do for Rescue Animals!
Thank you Dr. Scott and all, what a blessing you all are to this rescue. Love the the creation of Improve Internatioinal and the wonderful training they are providing to Vets. You all are awesome humans! God Bless and keep you all safe.
Great job Scott and your colleagues helping out at the centre 👏🏻. Beautiful Poppy’s story was so heartbreaking but am really happy she’s had a good outcome and has got a new loving forever home 🐶🧡
What a wonderful segment. All our animals including childhood dogs and cats have been rescues. I was fortunate to be able foster after retirement. My only foster failure was my present pyrenees Sophie. She was a stray from TX and 2 years old. She is now 9 and a therapy dog. Due to my health issues we had to take a break from volunteering. Within the last 4 years we've lost our other rescued pyrenees. We love the breed but dread the shorter life a large dog has. Sophie recently had ACL surgery and is doing great. Thank you for all you do. You're an amazing man.
So awesome of your team of vets show up to help the animals and rescue. Really great place for those fur babies that need support to find a new forever home. Dr. Scott, your compassion is so refreshing, how you see both sides of the coin and are willing to talk about it is touching. Happy to see Poppy has a new loving forever home where she will receive great care and lots of love. Thank you again for all you do!🐕🐈💕🎄👍
Unfortunately we have very few independent vets....The prices have rocketed but unfortunately the care has declined....We now have to travel up to nearly 50 miles for out of care treatment....😢
So happy to see Poppy get a home. What a nightmare she must have gone through. Beautiful animal. I can't understand why one of the medical device companies can't donate one of their refurbished x-ray machines to this rescue. I know many vets and rescues don't have the newest, shiniest equipment. I used to work in the medical device industry. Perhaps a combination fundraiser and some help from one of the medical device companies. I'd love to see one of them step up. Like Philips, Siemens, GE......
How wonderful to see organizations work together to care for animals! It was so sweet to see everyone cuddle the kittens! I hope that they all get the loving homes they deserve! Perhaps even for the holidays! And I hope that Garfield's surgery is a success and recovery goes well! I would love an update! Yay for Dr. Scott figuring out the tricky washing machine! Poor Poppy...thank goodness she was rescued. If only it had happened sooner. So much damage has been done, both physical and mental. I am so glad that she has found a new, better home!
I'm and old old woman now. When I had lots of animals, vet bills never used to be a big problem. Then pet insurance became a thing. Investors saw how much money could be made. So then all of a sudden, vets asked about doing blood tests and scans and this or that test, because the insurance would be paying. Vets started bumping bills up because after all, the insurance companies paid and it was a nice little earner. Of course, that meant for multi pet households, where insurance wasn't viable, we just had to dip into our savings. The vets had got used to the increase in costs so they charged an insurance company top dollar, then had to charge it to everyone else too. Vets have become so greedy that they won't even quote a dog owner unless to pay them the £30 consultation fee first. £30, just to *speak* to a vet. I *get* that they spend years training. I also get that the equipment they have, is expensive. But when a vet tells you "It'll be £3000 to repair your dog. If you can't afford it, we will put him to sleep", you know that something is very very wrong in this world. (I still have that dog............)
Lovely to see this impressive crew collaborating with each other. Great that Dr. Mo will be able to acquire new skills at no cost and that the wonderful Poppy has found a happy home. ❤ 🎄🐾🐾
Bless Poppy for getting a loving home. My heart broke for the beautiful elderly persian kitty who was left at the shelter. I hope that lovely little soul finds a home soon. It's so difficult for the older pets for find new homes. My Kitty Annikah passed last April at 21 years and she was my best friend. I felt so lonely after a month I went to the shelter and found a dear little elderly kitty that had lost her home twice. Her family left her at the shelter and months later a family adopted her and brought her back after two months because she was too timid and hid all the time. They had children and a dog and a cat that was picking on her. She had only been back at the shelter one week when I came in. She was so scared and cowering at the back of her cage. When I reached in to pet her she put her little head in my hand. I knew she was mine and I adopted her and she is 12 years old and I named her Zarrah Rose. She is the dearest little thing and I live alone and she is so relaxed and happy now. I'm so glad I could take her out of the shelter and give her a nice quiet home with lots of love. Older animals have a lot to offer and make wonderful loving companions. It was a great episode seeing so many veterinarians and people coming together to help the animals in need and find them loving forever homes.🥰😻🐶
I got my first dog, at 2 years old. She was a lab runt of the litter. We were a poor family and she never had dog food Ever. When mum cooked, which was always from scratch, it was for two adults, five kids and one dog. Our much loved dog, though not neutered, due to mums diligence Susie never had pups, wasn't vaccinated and lived to 13 1/2. By todays standards it's so wrong but it was a different time.❤
We are cooking for lobo, and making sure is complete with vitamin and minerals. I know many vets don’t want to hear it, but unless dogs have allergies, my previous dog…kibble is junk food. Plus it’s cheaper to feed him home cooked food.
I'm just wondering, is it possible to donate old equipment from vets to rescue clinics. Then that would solve the x-ray problem. When Scott got his new x-ray machine on Vet on the Hill, I did wonder what happened to the old one.
Thanks for an awesome episode Dr Scott. It's heart warming to know that little Poppy will now have her best life in a loving home. Have a wonderful Christmas with your family, friends and fur kids ❤❤
God bless you all who work and volunteer or donate to places like Rescues. Thank you to this group who are encouraging Vets and nurses to be able to upgrade or retrain in areas of their vocation. Merry Christmas to everyone of you.
Dr Scott, I sincerely hope that you and each of the vets with you in this video offered a good amount of procedures/hours in your respective clinics to the rescue! It's nice to give a small donation and some treats and toys and clean litter trays one day a year, but when a rescue can't even make their animals available until medical needs are seen to, what they really need is experienced, qualified vet time so that their animals are ready for adoption as quickly as possible! It's wonderful that you sponsored that new, young vet for her BOAS training! That will go a long way with the rescue, provided that she stays she stays there (or continues to volunteer there) for a few years at least!
Beautiful story 😊 my daughter had 2 rescue dogs one was nearly 18 years old before he passed, had the most beautiful nature I've ever seen in a dog....you all do an Awesome job...good on you all..Merry Christmas
Scott, the woman that came with you that also had a Santa hat, is that the woman I remember from Vet on the Hill with 100's of cats in her home? If it is, perfect place for her😊 Well, excellent Day 7 of Rescue Vet! 🐕🦺🐈 Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 Happy New Year 🎉🎊 from Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania USA
OMG, Carlos (the persian) looks exactly like my persian, down to the head bob coming out of his carrier. Mine is 15yrs old. He would never be so happy being held though, as soon as you pick him up he's hissing at you. Rotten thing. My kitty has a nasal deformity that causes constant sinus issues, everything from severe infections to just stuffy and snot filled. So he has to constantly have his nose cleaned out and rude things done to him, hence the hissing. He does love pets though if he's on the ground.
Kia ora from down under! When might there be Rescue Vet Merch available?! I THINK THAT PEOPLE SHOULD ONLY HAVE 1 DOG UNLESS THEY R SIBLINGS/ THEY SHOULD INTRODUCE THE ORIGINAL DOG TO NEW DOGS SO THEY CAN HELP PICK A COMPANION
Vets in the states are horrible. A lady rushed in a dog that was hit by a car. It was not hers. They immediately asked her if she was paying for it. She couldn't. She went to 3 vets and none of them would help that dog and it died. I understand vets have to make money but to let an animal die is crazy. I wish we had vets like you, cause I do not think you would turn your back on a animal.
People will go to an M.D. many times...years, even...and get basically nowhere. Yet they b*tch about a single vet bill that can completely address their pet's problem. Go figure...
The cost of vet bills is down to greedy corporate vet practices! Independent vets always seem to be cheaper but still not cheap and affordable enough for many
6 minutes in and she says that animals get given to the home because times are hard. I'm sorry but they'd have to be *bloody* hard before I gave away a family member who would much rather stay with me even through hard times.
More was going on in poor Poppy's life. I currently have 9 dogs. Have had more (I have land and home all day) food is never in short supply and is therefore not a valuable resource to be fought for. Plus, *I* am god here. Rule number 1 is that nobody is allowed to put teeth onto another living thing unless I allow it (rat killing for example). Thirdly, the pack is divided when I have to leave the house. So, a couple of the more dominant bitches who I know will scrap if I'm not there, will be put into cages. Small dogs are divided away from big dogs, and the 2 youngest larger boys, get caged to ensure the safety of the very old geriatric mastiff cross. They've never shown anything but respect to him, which I reinforce by offering treats to him first and backing him up when one of the younger biggies starts to tease him to get him to react. If you have a pack (more than 1 dog), especially several dogs, you *must* know your dogs and know what you're doing and have absolute control. They *have* to understand that to them, I am god. I will protect them. I allow them food. They have a comfortable place to sleep. They get affection and treats when they earn them. Nothing in life is free after all. They *also* understand that I am completely fair. I never use physical violence. A growl or hiss is enough for them to understand I am displeased. And lastly, they also know that if a fire breathing monster comes roaring down the lane, *I* will be the one to go out to fight it because I am pack leader and the survival of the pack is more important than self. That's how wild canids function. Poor Poppy lived with someone who hadn't a clue and so she suffered. She was lucky to have survived.
I'm sorry, I am not sure I trust vets. I have never known a poor vet, I can't stop myself thinking they are more concerned with how much money they can get out of people than the health of any animals they might see. If someone was to walk into a vets with an injured animal but no money I am pretty sure the vets would tell them to take it somewhere like the PDSA which are there for the poor people.
Listen to what said from 17.52 and 18.32. Without the latest technology, equipment ongoing education etc then there is no progression in the improvement of animal welfare.. This is to ensure all pets or Rescue has the best very best chance of recovery. The equipment itself us not cheap, then there are all the tools and disposables required, aftercare if your pet stays in for observation etc etc for any practice. Also, all the vet practices I've been to, if you talk to any staff member there, they have rescued so many animals from owners who want to put a pet down because it is no longer wanted, or born with a life long defect and a puppy but not deemed viable by their human, or they simply cant have that pet anymore, that the staff take on that animal themselves. Often the furball count outnumber the human family in that household. That is also why many vets volunteer their services and treatment to Rescue groups and the homeless community, because they care. So their costs they charge help them provide all these services to the wider community and more, plus pay for their rent and ensuring they have the best qualified team to look after our pets. If these additional services were not available by the vet practices, then all pet owners, rescues and pets would be deprived of these additional services. There is a bigger picture. I don't know any vet practice that do what they do for the lifestyle. The responsibility and mental stamina to do what they do and see what they see is immense. Much like any first responder.
My treasured cats of 18 and 14 1/2 would not have had a long and healthy life without their regular veterinary checks. I'm on a pension so do without to be able to meet the cost of surgeries and medication, but I've taken on the responsibility of caring for them and won't let them down. The vet teams who have provided this valued service over the years have been awesome and valued for their skill and compassion.
Then you don't necessarily know many vets, unless you know what it takes to be a vet and run a veterinary clinic, I have a relative whose a retired vet she isn't rich, and never was, like most vets its all about the animals.
Of our 52 years of marriage, ALL of our animals have been rescues. “Down” to 3 cats right now.
Lovely to see you all volunteering together and giving the training and donations to help the centre as well 👏🏻. Poor Poppy had such a horrific life and so glad she’s finally got the loving home she deserves with owners that will give her the love and care she should get 🐶❤️

Hi doctor Scott i hope you have a good Christmas. I would strave before my 3 cats don't get food.
Thank you all for doing this! It makes me hopeful that there are still good people in the world! Happy Christmas 🎄

Veterinarians are expensive, even before this economy😢

Sorry Scott but vet care in the USA is just terrible. There like taking your kids to the doctor .??
