I hear you on skills stacking. My degrees are in history and government, but never went to law school because I knew I’d be bored. I work in the tax industry, and everyone said I should get my CPA license. Too much stress. I like to think skills stacking gets you to be a conceptual thinker, able to make connections across many bodies of knowledge.

Love the skill stacking, doing this now, though I didn't realize this is what it's called. Even with two or three skills the difference in momentum is noticeable. Started collecting passport stamps before twenty with some time in the military. So many wonderful memories and stories. Nothing quite like connecting with the locals in a faraway place. My most recent trip I made a point of finding local swing dancing groups in Berlin, Tokyo, and Singapore - there's nothing like a shared joyful experience to connect people and cultures. Buying knowledge, so many great options for this one compared to 20-30 years ago, it's like drinking from a firehose!
I love this channel as I came upon it through another investing channel. This beautiful woman gives the most practical common sense ideas and mindset. A lot of channels show you all the unrealistic-non-practical ideas. She doesn't think she is above anything or anybody. She gives advice and ideas that are not only practical but very applicable ways to make money. I can't say enough about her. I, for instance, stumbled upon this little side hustle no one would think of she would appreciate. It's basically furniture flipping, but I buy table sets and refinish them and sell them. I make anywhere from a $150 to $200 profit plus a side hustle. Anyway, I've subscribed to her newsletter and am still binging on her videos for days now. Thank goodness for this channel.
The skill stacking bit blew me away. I've been doing this all my life without knowing there's a term to describe it. I'm known for being 1/5 money, 1/5 hype man, 1/5 teacher, 1/5 networker, and 1/5 skilled driver. Now, I run a company with a couple guys who used to work at FAANGs flipping cars, depositing that into real estate investing, getting rental money to flip more cars. Etc etc
I'm not 20 anymore but looking back I can now tell that skill stacking has been my secret sauce. Younger me: helped my parents run their SB when I was young, went to culinary school, migrated Me 5 years ago: bought a small convenience store, went hyper focused on offering international ingredients for local immigrant residents and community, turned profit, bought 2 more. Also, ditched the MBA and used that money to buy that first location. I def hear you. Great info as usual, thanks for sharing.
Hi there, love your videos. I have my first house and looking into my second house. We have 150k in equity in our house. Now, we have around 20-30k cash. Would it be better to used the cash or used HELOC for the next down payment?
Fantastic and really authentic advice! Wish I knew this in my 20s. Trying to make sure my daughter knows (many of) these things before then. So many people spend money/time on a niche they hate or least don't really love: the universities are full of them. Was a lecturer and always thought: "What a waste of money, time and energy!"
Great words to live by! I've lived an incredible life following some of these rules (wish I had known them all a couple decades ago : D ) Thanks Codie for these videos. I'm sharing them with my 18 year old daughter. It's great that she can see success in others and learn from your stories...because hearing the same words from someone who isn't your dad resonates so much more at 18.
Thanks again Codie. Could you do a video on "Getting OPM", please? That's my barrier to market. I've learned where to meet entrepreneurs, but I need help on that next step... "Would you care to invest?" TIA!
Or trying to drink more smoothies I've been doing that it's actually more cheaper than you think especially if you buy the ingredients and just blend it yourself
Thank you for speaking out against the "rent gurus." We had to sell our house and move into an apartment in another city, so we went back to paying rent at $2400 a month?! It's way more expensive than a mortgage. This same apartment was $1200 - $1400 in this area five years ago, except we don't get to keep any of that appreciation or ever finish having payments. We're gonna have so much money back in our bank account when we buy a house, much less when we finish the payments.
Your videos were recommended to me by a friend...I rather enjoy them and your personality. I was raised in a rather negative, typical "hater" of all things Mexican household. Any suggestions on how to overcome this mentality/obstacle? Appreciate you and your feedback. Be well👍
I hypothesis on the earning differential from those who are more fit and more attractive, has a lot to do with confidence. I think being fit and attractive gives us more confidence and people with more confidence take more risks, more risks taken, equals more money. I think an unfit, unattractive person with confidence in themselves can out earn the common person.
I'm going to continue with learning. I like so much of what you say. As I pursue the path I just set out on while at the same time, I'm going to help a friend. He needs help but has done garage doors for years and is good. I'm going to help him and myself buy opening a garage door company. Maybe gonna map it out first.
