James Arnold Taylor recorded all his lines for FFX in order and not knowing the ending assumed Tidus' narrating voice was an older Tidus hence the deeper register.
I've always wondered WHAT POINT IN TIME Tidus was narrating from. Like, from what he says and looks back at things, it's obvious that it's from some point in the future. But when exactly has always eluded me. Like, after he disappeared/passed on from Spira? But this video made me realize that the narration STOPS after reaching the campsite in Zanarkand...and he tells you to listen to his story a second time...and a very slow lightbulb lit in my head. It was all on that hill! It may seem obvious to some, but I swear to you I had thought about this many times. Everything he told was with the information he gathered up until they reached that campsite (so he does not yet know about the final summoning, and would not actually be able to comment on it, even in narration). And that's why the game starts the way it does! LIKE, the GOOD MAJORITY OF FFX is essentially a very detailed FLASHBACK. Does this blow anyone else's mind but mine????
@@GameSharks Yes! I mean, he really did sound mature and that he had a while to reflect on his actions. Can't believe this whole time, FFX was a big "I bet you're probably wondering how I got here" cliché. I'm just glad this question can be laid to rest in my head, haha! :)
The narration occurs right where the game begins aka the campfire at zanarkard. As he says “listen to my story”. He’s telling his story to whoever is listening aka you. He thought this was the end of his journey like every other group of guardians but the story continues after the death of yunalesca
I decided I wanted to listen to Tidus' wonderful narration and searched for it on RUclips, and not only did I find this video, but it turns out I've watched and liked it before. I don't remember doing such, but I'm also not surprised. Thanks for uploading this, really hits my nostalgia.
Part of why I love Tidus is because of his self reflecting. Let's me get into his head better and empathize. It's just like with the FFXIII trilogy where you have Vanille, Noel, and Lightning narrate through the series because of their importance, so you hear what they're thinking, feel what their feeling, and invest in their stories more. Narration's great when it isn't just used for exposition stuff.
LOL, I love to narrate Tidus's quotes all the time! It was my first game on ps2, it really got my heart, so I learned a lot of quotes by heart, haha! Thank you so much for this video ♥
Just want to point out that one is missing. Tidus talks about how Yuna's faith in Yevon was shaken and that he should say or do anything to cheer her up. It was after they fought Seymour for the second time in Bevelle and right before the lake scene.
It's great to hear from the start of the game Tidus sounded child like, impatience and whiny. And as the story goes by his voice started to grow matured. Great job, JAT. 🎊😀
Ironically it is Tidus that dies instead of Yuna in the story by fading out of existence the story places Yuna as a sacrifice but in turn Tidus becomes the one sacrificed.
I was just fooling myself. Maybe it was that day… on the sea under the burning sun, i started to give up hope, i was in a foreign world, i wasn’t going home. This was my new reality and i was stuck in it for good.
Who came by this in 2021 and wants to go back to play it? 😱 Great childhood memories Yup I think I'm about to turn it on right now and hit new game and enjoy that piano though 😅
james arnold taylor is one of the greatest voice actors of all time… From toiletnator in kids next door to obi wan kenobi in the clone wars… for real though, no other video game(other than mother 3) has made me cry as hard as i did
Hm, I was going to do one with Yuna with X-2, but it could probably be done with 13 as well. Not sure about any other games have narration like this though
“Listen to my story. This..may be our last chance.”
Will never cease to give me goosebumps in the best way somehow
I love love love Tidus’ narrating voice. It is so damn soothing

SquareSoft presents... Final Fantasy X... an audiobook by Tidus.
😂😂 we need it!!
"A city dead for a thousand years..." The mountain summit was definitely the best scene in the game
"My thoughts, they kept floating up, and then slipping through my fingers." "Slipping away before I could pin them down with words."
When tidus said "This is My Story", I felt that, it's really giving me those good times of childhood....
Listen to my story, it maybe our last chance..... best game ver made. childhood memories.
Nah.. it happened to me as soon as I heard the piano lol

it's an easy mistake to make, Tidus' VA was under the impression that the narration took place in the future and tried to make Tidus sound older

@@GameSharks Crazy to think the entire storyline takes around 2 in game weeks (if you count the day/night cycles and forced rest points)
That's what I thought in my very first playthrough as well.
Missed the “sometimes yuna just stare off of the distance , i finally understood why, she was saying goodbye, to the places she neved see again”
And in mt. Gagazet about Yuna Statue
Finally someone uploaded the whole thoughts of tidus! Thank you so much for the video i’ve been waiting for this to happen for a long time!
I named him Titus.

lol whenever i narrate in my head like kinda serious thinking, i do it in tidus voice like this XD he sounds cool to me, thanks 4 uploading o0o c3
This Game Is So Deep, Its Unreal!

*Nobuo on piano*
Tidus: "Listen to my story. This may be the last Final Fantasy".
Me: 😦🥺
FFX is a story I revisit every year, amazing stuff.
the same for me with FFIX and Legend of Dragoon
Just want to point out that one is missing. Tidus talks about how Yuna's faith in Yevon was shaken and that he should say or do anything to cheer her up. It was after they fought Seymour for the second time in Bevelle and right before the lake scene.
Tidus is a really cool guy in my book.

The lack of a lot of information from the main character led to some pretty good twists and they all landed perfectly.
Feeling those nostalgia vibes. Brings a tear to my eye a lil bit. Guess I'll just stand up tall, take a deep breath, and laugh it off. HA HA HA HA HA.
Thomas und Hotel Barflys : wir zahlen gerne dafür das er in der Gruft bleibt

Yup I think I'm about to turn it on right now and hit new game and enjoy that piano though 😅
This is actually a soliloquy because Tidus is voicing his thoughts. A narrator is totally sperate from the world.
Such a beautiful nostalgia...
Andi und Café ritter : er bleibt in der Gruft !
14:11 Yuna and you had never WHAT? TELL ME!
Reminds me of link to the awesome
Had sex
This and viii are my personal favourites, with 2 weeks holiday coming up from work, its about time i Replay them both.

Now we need Yuna's narration from X-2
I've actually been recording X-2 and collecting her narration, but it seems like there's way less than in X
"This must be what a runaway feels like after final coming home"
Also the voice of Rachet from Rachet and Clank
Akinduro Eva : nein einfach wir haben die bereit das bezahlt
Er bleibt in der Gruft
i sleep listening to this
Café ritter : wir haben eine Menge €€€ ausgegeben dafür
Hey dude I am making a video soon on final fantasy X, is it alright if I use a few 10 to 15 second clips of your video, btw thanks for making this.
yeah, sure
Been looking for this. Thanks!

When I tell myself “I’ll just go to the gym tomorrow.”
Thanks man, thanks for upload
My thoughts, they kept floating up and then slipping through my fingers. Slipping away before I could pin them down with words.
Anyone getting the Ray Liotta narrative from Tidus. I just got the remastered version and I thought Ray was talking in the game.
Café ritter : 🤫 Sch
5:19 I began to realize that I'm in an isekai story, but way better than all the tasteless crap that was to come a decade later.
If only he talk in this manner in the game
Man, the whole narration framing device would have worked a lot better if Tidus were a better story teller.
Woah can you do this for more final fantasy characters !
Hm, I was going to do one with Yuna with X-2, but it could probably be done with 13 as well. Not sure about any other games have narration like this though
Why does his face look so much better here than in the HD version?
this is the HD version
