Not trying to sound like a know-it-all or anything; I just happen to have used the same method before. There are SO MANY great shortcuts like this in adobe products that sometimes go missed by users for years. Then when you finally discover it, it increases your efficiency so much. E.g. for years I used to space multiple objects evenly by using a box as a guide, then I felt like a complete idiot when I realised the Alignment Panel could be expanded with more options.
I love these and most of Zimri's logo redesigns I've seen. He took what's there, was kind about it, kept it very similar, and just improved readability, balance, clarity, coherence, etc. Also: Q plus stars!
That zulu redesign, so simple but so effective... Man, I know it's your full time job and everything, but you have such an eye for these things! And Frederic's spreadsheet logo, wow... Great work!
It was at the beginning, for sure! The part that bothered me was when he kept adding scales and ending up with a dragon-like thingy paired with the evilified eyes :D
I just found your channel and I love it!! Been binging your videos and i love your energy and creativity. Loved the dcc series and can’t wait for the next round! Keep it up
Your explanations and descriptions of the "mistakes" in the logos are very useful! I'm a begginer and i'm learning so much from you. You explain things that teachers never teach you at school.
My favorite redesign was by far the computer cooling thing! So well redesigned! All the important stuff that was put into the logo you kept and made it much more simple, awesome- love the outcome :)
Thoroughly enjoying your videos. Very interested to see what people come up with, loving your tweaks and your commentary is fantastic. GREAT WORK with your channel.
I hope people actually read my request. I am generally interested in creating logos (just a hobby, it is useful!). You, Zimri have a lot of knowledge. You talk about that in your redesigns. Simple but effective principles like "small corners create tension when viewed from far away" or "keep a triangle simple (dont squish it)" or "tiny colored pieces/patches look noisy when viewed from the distance" help improving logos hugly. These principles are simple but if you dont take your time and look at something you will not see these "design errors" and your logo looks worse than it could look. - I dont have the time and experience to know these details but you do! It would be really nice and helpful if you created a video with a list/a top 10/or even a tutorial series where you talk (and show) these principles to us so we can learn from them!
I love all of your redesigns. They're always on point! I'm not a designer whatsoever but I'm learning a lot about logo designs from you and it's very interesting
In drawing, those "points of tension" are called "tangents". You generally want to avoid them because it flattens the image due to lack of dominance of one line over the other. You either overlap the lines or avoid them touching completely so you have a very bold statement! Hope that was informative enough. :)
Watching these again a year later. I don't know the reason for the Zulu joystick having a white line cut it off. So I don't know why I like that. But for some reason I do! Plus the joystick being angled like in-motion is a huge improvement.
4/4 in your corner on this episode. I think all the changes and suggestions you made were in the right spot. I hope my submitted design comes up in one of these videos soon. As a complete novice, I would love to hear your input.
you are a very good designer, i think many of your fan has been said that, but i must say your wonderful person as well, you pronounce everyone's name perfectly, specially the asian, middle east people's name ...western people do not do that often, and your persona is amazing!!!!!
wow! the bird hunting Zimri made him not miss a single redesign today... All of them are winners! just wow! Great show mah man! Hope to keep seeing you, and maybe even more frequently :D
thank you for your videos! I'm a graphic design student and I'm struggling at making a logo and these videos are really helping, not to mention you make them REALLY fun to watch :-)
thank you zimri for this awesome videos you do. they're very entertaining! keep on with this good work. especially your fancy you durring the videos :) its great!
I think stars only is the best choice if he wants to use it as a profile picture. The Q version otherwise would need to be down scaled to fit properly.
I think the Dondee logo would be pretty neat if you somehow managed to make it subtly seem like it's a happy character with two eyes but only very subtly. I'd also go for a more rounded font to better fit in with the rounded edges of the logo
The stonebird logo redesign was cool, I voted against it because a few of the elements seemed less appropriate for the branding. Real vote was for something in between.
Hey Zimri, impressive work on the videos and the work that you putting out. Your methods have truly influenced my design approach. I'm particularly interested in your thoughts about pricing design work, particularly logo design, and how you approach it. How do you measure pricing? A future video on this subject would be greatly insightful. Keep up the good work!
I liked new Stonebird, by the way. Love the hardcore rocker eagle in the night sky going on. The bird is ugly, truth be told, but endearing. Kinda like Big Mouths except Stonebird's more endearing. I like Zulu's original font more but I liked the small changes you've made to the joystick.
the "select corners then resize" thing... quicker if you hit 'A' (direct selection tool), then Alt+Click the path, it will select whatever is part of that path directly and not the whole shape... then you can use 'V' to scale it. (note: alt+click is windows, do whatever the equivalent key is on Mac :)
In the Zulu one I was thinking the whole time of just putting the red ball on top of the L, probably a bad idea because I'm not a good designer but I can't resist doing those things x)
that joystick shadow had me SHOOK. such a small but powerful change!
Idek how to create that shadow
How even did he do that? I would be able to, but it seems like it took him maybe 20 seconds, where it’d prob take me 5 min lol
@@NiCkAbAd0923879 he just copied the ball then used shape builder tool to select the part he wanted for the shadow

@@fongdimbulator same hahahahha
The zulu logo is cleannnnnn damn
"Damn", is correct.
I love these and most of Zimri's logo redesigns I've seen. He took what's there, was kind about it, kept it very similar, and just improved readability, balance, clarity, coherence, etc. Also: Q plus stars!
Are you really aligned sir? Sir, are you sure that you're aligned?
Hahaha
The Legend of Zelda: Triforce of Hirukia
I was looking for this comment XD

Went to comments to find this comment... not disappointed
Boom! Me too!
Thank you for featuring my logos! It really brightened my day!
So glad to hear that Quinn! It’s an awesome and fun logo buddy :)
That zulu redesign, so simple but so effective... Man, I know it's your full time job and everything, but you have such an eye for these things! And Frederic's spreadsheet logo, wow... Great work!
*mentions raleway*
me: hey I know that font, I use it all the time!
zimri: yeah I don't like it
me: :(
Hahahahahahaga same shit in here 🤝
Literally my works main font 😂
Oh Zimri, don't beat yourself over that thunderbird. It's okay. You still are my favorite graphic designer. :)
I CAME HERE SO FAST. AAAH. I really love the YGR series. 😭💜
You are the definition of constructive feedback. Thanks for being so positive and talented to boot.. Adore the channel
I loooved the bird, for real! It was so much more genre appropriate!
It was at the beginning, for sure! The part that bothered me was when he kept adding scales and ending up with a dragon-like thingy paired with the evilified eyes :D
Lol! I kind of liked that though. 🐲
I agree!!
How can videos about editing logos be so entertaining! 10/10!

Have your confidence back, Dude - you really know your stuff :)
you're truly one of the most expressive people on this platform. Every video I feel like we're old friends

@zimrimayfield are you self taught? Can you please give a little background bio on yourself? I really enjoy your channel and I'm curious. Thanks!

Jens thanks so much!
What you said about make objects in movement, had me like wow, yeah. That’s so right! The Zulu logo is great!
I love how happy you are all the time, thanks for making these enjoyable videos.
From everything you do, what you decided to explain is to use the polygon tool and input a 3? xDDD
No you shouldnt get the stone bird design haunt you!! You're confidence for out of the box creativity is what we neeeeed
Thoroughly enjoying your videos. Very interested to see what people come up with, loving your tweaks and your commentary is fantastic. GREAT WORK with your channel.

What a design COMEBACK
I really love how good you are a saying all the names!!

I didnt see at first what kind improvement you'd make in Zulu, but wow! These little changes made all the difference, it got so much better.
Q+stars with the tail cutting in, looks so cute.
"These are the changes I would suggest." "That's my opinion." Really appreciate how humble you are when giving feedback.
How is this guy always so energetic? Very entertaining
I love this guys energy level!!!
Congrats zimri, you hit the jackpot this episode!!
Every revisions are nicely done!

That changes on ZULU logo is the best so far !!!
Awesome video Zimri!! Don't get too down about the stonebird! It only makes you stronger!! This week's fav was probably the Zulu logo!
You really killed it this episode!
I LOVE THE BIRD!
you are a very good designer, i think many of your fan has been said that, but i must say your wonderful person as well, you pronounce everyone's name perfectly, specially the asian, middle east people's name ...western people do not do that often, and your persona is amazing!!!!!

Only zimri would wear a medal like that
The bird just had some funky lines
I actually learn a lot from Zimri. I do mostly illustrations and sucks at logo designs and watching his videos helps me..
Guy, you rules. Message from France
thank you for your videos! I'm a graphic design student and I'm struggling at making a logo and these videos are really helping, not to mention you make them REALLY fun to watch :-)
Zulu and Dondee are awesome!!
I'm so hype
I think Dondee's initial font was nice. I gave a sensation of cleanness. Your choose was cool, but I think the first one fits more. Nice video!
I love how he always talks normally when narrating his redesign but sounds super high in normal monologue
All the redesigns were great!
I just found this vid in my recommendations and my goodness you're the most charming man I've ever seen
This guy has strong Jon-Ralfio Sapernstein energy
I like that you can vote on these great videos
You were killing it with the logos today, congrats! Sorry stone bird didn’t turn out. :’)
thank you zimri for this awesome videos you do. they're very entertaining! keep on with this good work. especially your fancy you durring the videos :) its great!
I liked the bird! Maybe people didn’t like it cuz it was more of a sketch when you did it. But I liked the direction.
YOU are a special group of people, Zimri
For the candlestore, you could also integrate it within the icon between the lines at the bottom.
I think stars only is the best choice if he wants to use it as a profile picture. The Q version otherwise would need to be down scaled to fit properly.
really inspiring my mind for making a logo design...Thanks you
I think the Dondee logo would be pretty neat if you somehow managed to make it subtly seem like it's a happy character with two eyes but only very subtly. I'd also go for a more rounded font to better fit in with the rounded edges of the logo
Zulu and The computer cooler logos were great redesigns!
He's definitely on the good stuff
Can you make a video where you judge square space and wix and stuff? I’ve always been curious if they’re good
I always wonder who the 2 or 3 % who just don’t like Zimri’s designs are...?
The professionals
Your Stonebird logo was dope
the zulu change is so cool!
The stonebird logo redesign was cool, I voted against it because a few of the elements seemed less appropriate for the branding. Real vote was for something in between.
also... to slant type, or other objects... use the shear tool ...inside the size tool! (from another episode)
Came for the designs.
Stayed for the puns.
The first one is quite funny. Hirukia means actually "the triangle" in Basque.
10:40 that is a damn good tip!! thank u!!!
I personally loved stonebird's new design!!
q only but change the font to a handwritten method. would look way more fun and have more character around that cute lil icon
You're really entertaining and charismatic (pompous? lol). I always have fun watching these videos
btw I love your medal, it suits your majestic personality!
Yeah Zulu's game thingy was a superb idea 😍
The first guy got a triforce as his logo :D
Hey Zimri, impressive work on the videos and the work that you putting out. Your methods have truly influenced my design approach. I like the first one but its too similar to The Legend of Zelda :(
You sir just took a win!
I would have loved to see you do something in the lines of the greyish/bluish figure with very blue eyes at the end instead of the other one
Love you adding in a few Illustrator tips and tricks! Really need them 😅 Keep it up!
instant respect for the first guy for using the Ubuntu font
the "select corners then resize" thing... quicker if you hit 'A' (direct selection tool), then Alt+Click the path, it will select whatever is part of that path directly and not the whole shape... then you can use 'V' to scale it. (note: alt+click is windows, do whatever the equivalent key is on Mac :)
does anyone know where i could submit my own logo for this series? Thanks in advance! :)
oHHH my gosh the little oval in the bottom right corner of the computer cooling logo is definitely further to the edge than the 3 othersss
12:30 Stars only will make it fit in social media profile picture frames cause you know circkes
awesome as always!
Why have I never noticed ur dope ass eyeballs!!!!!!
In the Zulu one I was thinking the whole time of just putting the red ball on top of the L, probably a bad idea because I'm not a good designer but I can't resist doing those things x)
You're so good!
In Petr’s it would’ve been cool to put the triangle as the A
