    What is the best diabetic medication to take with the least side effects. I don't have insurance; however, I don't want bottom of the barrel meds. Currently, prescribed an SU. Thank you for your candid insight and support to those of us living with diabetes.

    Do you feel a Keto/low carb diet is best? Or do you think the Diabetic diet is the best? What are your thoughts on intermittent fasting?

    • @sugarhighchannel
      @sugarhighchannel  4 года назад +1

      So far the evidence doesn’t really support the keto diet being a great option. I recommend a reasonably low-carb diet in combination with a good amount of physical exercise with the goal being weight reduction. We will definitely be getting into diet and meal planning in future episodes.

    Why is novolin R not recommended for use when used with Lantus hs 5u only.

    • @sugarhighchannel
      @sugarhighchannel  4 года назад

      It depends, for Type 1 diabetes, there's no reason why Novolin R couldn't be used for mealtime coverage if someone is using Lantus for long-acting insulin. For Type 2, it isn't not-recommended per se, but if a type 2 person is on only 5 units of Lantus, that person may not really need fast-acting insulin in the first place. It's a case-by-case thing, but there's no specific interaction that would make using those 2 insulin together a problem.
