Even at a recreational league level, the music always stops before the offensive team prepares to snap the ball. Colorado knew the rule, yet was trying to gain an unfair advantage. Then again, I don't expect sportsmanship from Coach You-Know-Who.
This happened at the Wisconsin game when they played Buffalo in week 1, but the refs literally did nothing. The music was constantly playing and it was so loud that the Wisconsin fans were complaining about it during and after the game. Fans were threatening to not come to another game if the atmosphere was like that at the next game. On the radio shows after the game, Wisconsin fans as well as the radio broadcasters were questioning if it was even legal to be doing what they were doing.
The PA system operators absolutely know the rules - without question, they know the rules Playing music while the opposing offense is at the line of scrimmage has to come from the top, The NCAA will reach out to the Colorado administration
I was in the band in college -- pay attention, the band will always stop playing before the snap of the ball because it's a penalty on their team if they don't.
The rules is necessary so the offense call get the play set up with a fair shot at not starting early. If the crowd is loud that’s fine but the band and pa has to stop
I remember in high school band we would actively try to play as loud as possible when the other team went under center. I guess they either didn’t have the rule in HS football or didn’t care enough to enforce it in non-varsity football

A ref needed to step up during the Washington/Oregon game and warn Oregon's coach that faking injuries will not be tolerated. The NCAA needs to implement very strict penalties for any coach who teaches his players to fake injuries during a game. Injuries are not to be exploited, thats as low as it gets.
Good on that ref calling out the shenanigans and putting the PA sideshow in check. Now let’s hear the sycophants cry about being “victims” after someone puts a stop to their jackass behavior.
Wait what😭 how is that jackass behavior. The PA announcer forgot about the rules for a sec and had to be reminded. Its the same pa announcer colorado has had for 10 years now. None of this has to do with deion. He simply just forgot its not “jackass behavior”
True, the sad thing is that despite the noise, hand signals were fundamental especially if the crowd was extra rowdy, but these days QBs at the NCAAF and NFL levels rely heavily on the microphone in their helmet so much. But I understand especially if the PA is being too extra, ultimately it's on the coaches and players to stay disciplined enough for any BS distractions
@@kennethmullenixit's not just because of coach to QB communication. PA systems get much louder than crowd noise. The offense would not be able to hear the snap count and would be penalized out the wazoo.
@@heroesofthescape idk about that, you dont necessarily need to hear the hear the snap count, the way I was always taught you dont move unless you see the center move. Even if the offense is in the Shotgun the center can set the cadence by either silently counting in his head, usually no more than a count of 4,or he looks back/underneath his legs to see if the QB is doing some kind of motion, usually the QB will just lift his leg. If they in regular I formation, the QB will usually just wiggle his hands underneath the center letting him know to snap the ball. Receivers and everyone else are watching the line of scrimmage for movement. I was just at the Texas OU game and the crowd was pretty loud, but the PA didn't seem to have any affect on play calling. Offsides penalties usually come from being nervous and undisciplined, sometimes the defense can be moving around a bit to get the linemen to jump offsides but usually nothing happens. Even with a hard count, offenses practice the cadence, the hard count might be "on 2/3" usually all that is learned from the 2min drills you do everyday in practice, usually the coach or QB will put up the signal for the hard count.
I have never attended a football game where the music or sound effects continued when play resumed. I’m sure there are rules in place that are stressed to all involved and everyone has a clear understanding. In addition to all that it’s just common courtesy and good sportsmanship. Besides, if the members of the “12th man” are doing their jobs, which is completely acceptable, nothing else is needed. Good sportsmanship should be the most important element of sports events but unfortunately we have drifted away from that. After all, it’s just a game!
We (the pep band) got our football team a penalty this way in high school. The coaches were pissed! In our defense, the team was horrible and already losing by 35 points anyway. The only people left in the stands were us and when we weren't playing we were bored to death.
Band got one while I was a member my senior year in high school. We were up by 50 though in the 4th quarter so the coaches didn't care. I think the yellow flag still hangs above the ceiling in the band room to this day.
That rule is universal for the college level and every announcer/ person playing music should know this rule which is not just for football, but for all sports in college. I was an announcer for 22 years.
Hey, they mentioned our cowbells!(I'm from MSU). Imagine a stadium so loud you can hear it inside your house 10 miles away on the other side of town. Those cowbells are legit deafening.
In Marching Band we got it drilled into to heads that we can’t play a single note during a play or else our team would get a penalty. But I’ve never seen the rule actually referenced during a game until now
Good call. It’s a rule for a reason. If it was crowd noise, it would be different. But the DJ has a sound system and technological advantage over them, so good move by the official to put an end to it early on
It’s so funny to hear this compared to the NBA that blasts extremely loud rap music and DE FENSE and EVERYBODY CLAP YO HANDS all game long during live game action
It's like teams who funnel fake crowd noise in football games to trigger false starts. I guess its the whole "if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying" mentality.
I was in the Longhorn Band at Texas. As freshman we were told quite firmly that we were to watch the drum major when playing for the cutoff so that the band would not draw a penalty flag. by playing one note past the cutoff The home fans may not like it but it is the rules.
The booth people in Colorado have pushed the envelope for decades. From stopping the clock early or letting it run a few extra seconds, playing music too long, or any other advantage they could give the Buffs they do it. Growing up in nebraska Ive seen it since the 80s and Im actually kind of jealous about it.
Years ago I was in marching band and remember the director abruptly cutting us off whenever it was time for us to keep quiet and follow the rules. Miss those days.

Even at a recreational league level, the music always stops before the offensive team prepares to snap the ball. Colorado knew the rule, yet was trying to gain an unfair advantage. Then again, I don't expect sportsmanship from Coach You-Know-Who.
Having announced for 25 years including college level, that is one of the very first rules that you learn.
At a New Mexico St game earlier, the ref called out the game clock operator from the field and told him to pay attention to the signals on the field.
The PA system operators absolutely know the rules - without question, they know the rules
Playing music while the opposing offense is at the line of scrimmage has to come from the top, The NCAA will reach out to the Colorado administration
I was in the band in college -- pay attention, the band will always stop playing before the snap of the ball because it's a penalty on their team if they don't.
Anyone else remember the old NCAA games where there was literally a mechanic to pump up the crowd at the line to disrupt the other team
Well, something else happened…Stanford down 29-0 came back and won in double overtime. Wild.
Prime showed he is in way over his head, hope he kept that receipt from last night..
The definition of instant karma.
@@metroidnerd9001 they do have it in high school but the stadium isn’t built in a way we’re it’s noticeable and it’s a small band
@@DoginSuitDepends on the state. In Alabama that rule was recently relaxed to only include the PA system. The band can keep playing without penalty. Used to apply to them too.
@@crazydude5825 for sure. It’s just rare that it’s called. HS stadiums are usually pretty flat so the sound easily gets out. We’re the college stadiums are a bowl that amplifies the noise
"Tell us what that call was all about" as if anybody on planet Earth needed that explaining to them
Someone who is watching their first CFB game might...I've seen it happen.
We're talking about sports commentators. The color guy would be out of a job if he wasn't saying stuff like "in this situation the offense is looking to score" or "you need defense to do well in this game".
Hey he said please, he could have just ordered it and it still would have been an official thing. So very polite
You know the Deion lovers gonna act like they beat Georgia 😂
Somehow itll be racist to play fairly, im sure according to those foot draggers
@Danfrombackhome maybe not Stanford making a comeback 🤣
Wait what😭 how is that jackass behavior. The PA announcer forgot about the rules for a sec and had to be reminded. Its the same pa announcer colorado has had for 10 years now. None of this has to do with deion. He simply just forgot its not “jackass behavior”
Ayo we victims bruh
Don’t care, best part of the game for me was the Stanford players flexing on Colorado, that was golden and made me laugh 😂😂😂
Don't boo the referee for making the right call and doing the right thing, blame the PA for trying to create a home field advantage.
“Why does this ref feel so threatened by cOaCh PrImE?? 😭😭”
Nice of them to give warning instead of just throwing the hankie. This is amateur level stuff PA guy should know.
0:22...Announcers are so stupid....Why do you have to consult rules analyst. Isn't pretty obvious based on what the ref said??
I have never attended a football game where the music or sound effects continued when play resumed. I’m sure there are rules in place that are stressed to all involved and everyone has a clear understanding. In addition to all that it’s just common courtesy and good sportsmanship. Besides, if the members of the “12th man” are doing their jobs, which is completely acceptable, nothing else is needed. Good sportsmanship should be the most important element of sports events but unfortunately we have drifted away from that. After all, it’s just a game!
I'm sure that PA was hired by Deion
Imagine if the PA guy used that trombone wah wah wah effect after.
Good job getting this up. keep the fans educated.
We (the pep band) got our football team a penalty this way in high school. The coaches were pissed! In our defense, the team was horrible and already losing by 35 points anyway. The only people left in the stands were us and when we weren't playing we were bored to death.
Did y’all go wild in the 4th quarter? That’s what we did even when we were losing by 50 😂
That is SO funny. I can picture it!
🤣🤣🤣
Band got one while I was a member my senior year in high school. We were up by 50 though in the 4th quarter so the coaches didn't care. I think the yellow flag still hangs above the ceiling in the band room to this day.
I would have kept playing to spite the coach at that point
That's the last game you would be playing at.
But the DJ has a sound system and technological advantage over them, so good move by the official to put an end to it early on
We had to stop playing in marching band, but that didn't stop us from yelling as loud as possible xD
It’s so funny to hear this compared to the NBA that blasts extremely loud rap music and DE FENSE and EVERYBODY CLAP YO HANDS all game long during live game action
That’s crazy when this happens like that! I’ve never seen anything like that before!
Would have been funnier if we heard 'Unsportsman like conduct: the DJ. 10 yards, first down'.
Literally was thinking what type of bullshit is this blaring music as the teams are lining up 😂
Nothing beats the deafening cacophony of the Mississippi State cowbells. It's almost therapeutic. Actually helps you get in rhythm lol
As a graduating senior at Mississippi state, I do not miss the cowbell at all 💀
We need more cowbells.
Love how the Jumbotron tells everyone to stop and the cowbells get louder
lil state’s cowbell mania is stupid and annoying.
Love that Ref. We need more like him!!!
Referee : Stop playing -
Announcer : Okay 😟
PA announcer: wth? Why is he calling me out?
Organist and sound effects engineer: laughing their asses off.
DJ's at college football games, or ANY football games, are ridiculous. This happened at NC State last week, too.
Correct call! The pa guy is an odiot
Good on you Ref!!! Shut up the classless cheaters!
Ok white man calm down
@@adamcrawford5655 Hey, Donny Osmond, who are *YOU* calling "white man"?
@@markv1274 Hey dumb fk mark, no one was talking to you right? Keep it movin’ whitey
I got respect for that ref enforcing a rule like that in front of that many people.
This is actually awesome. Really put himself on the line to do the right thing. Mad respect.
It's like teams who funnel fake crowd noise in football games to trigger false starts. I guess its the whole "if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying" mentality.
Damnn that’s tough lmao
Imagine being an announcer and not realizing you were doing something wrong getting called out publicly by the ref
I was in the Longhorn Band at Texas. As freshman we were told quite firmly that we were to watch the drum major when playing for the cutoff so that the band would not draw a penalty flag. by playing one note past the cutoff The home fans may not like it but it is the rules.
Turn down for what?! 😂
DJ Snake, Lil Jon
Imagine getting upset about this obvious rule
Couldn't they just call him in the booth instead of embarrassing him in front of everyone.😇
Ref: PA guy.. no more cooking for you
The booth people in Colorado have pushed the envelope for decades. From stopping the clock early or letting it run a few extra seconds, playing music too long, or any other advantage they could give the Buffs they do it.
Growing up in nebraska Ive seen it since the 80s and Im actually kind of jealous about it.
Thanks for not adding the part that he flagged . Genius
"So the DJ can't spin?" lol
And the Colorado fans thought the ref calling out the PA guy was going to be the worst part of their day
I remember running into that issue in college. That time, the issue was the booth not paying attention.
Some Stanford fan then started playing loud music to get the call against Colorado.
When he discovered that Rule in Referee Class, He knew he'd use it someday..
Years ago I was in marching band and remember the director abruptly cutting us off whenever it was time for us to keep quiet and follow the rules. Miss those days.
LOLOL, just like at Mississippi State with the cowbells or Oklahoma State where they have nearly half their student sections on the front rows of one side using wooden paddles beating against the safety padded walls making horrendous racket!!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂
For the integrity of the school, the Athletic Director needs to have a long talk with the PA announcer. Either play by the rules or find a new job.
This is the one good ref in existence
i've never been so into college football and its antics as i have right now, while i'm in college
The ref could have sent that message more discretely. He could have asked an official to tell him in person or call the booth or whatever.
What are you on? The referee has ultimate authority over calling the game. The referee calls it this way because it's the quickest way to do it, plus the ref needs to let everyone know that he's identified an infraction. The whole stadium knew, so the ref had to let everyone know that he knew.
The PA, like 90% of the "fans" there, is new to being at Colorado football games, so we'll give him a break.
The teenager behind the PA is like wtf
The ref was savage.
as soon as they couldn't pump in that extra crowd noise they lost.
Colorado needs all the help it can get. Hype only gets you so far
Great sportsmanlike conduct shown by the ref.
