Not gonna lie, I felt called out by that statement. Lol. Jamming on a particular chord is generally what I do. I work to do it rhythmically (with some muting and articulation thrown in) so it isn't boring. But I never felt so called out before. 😂😅
I like my full chords. Big sadge. 🤣🤣🤣

Although I began as a teenager with fingerpicking, even using a thumb pick, trying to keep a hold of my flat pick during lots of right hand fast strumming has been a challenge. Now using Pickboy Pos-a-Grip picks and they help a *lot*. :)

Remember people, even though he shows you fast paced funk leads, those leads can be slowed down and applied across a wide range of R&B and funk like grooves.
He is a serious player by all means!
Listen to players like Nile Rogers, Ray Parker Jr. just to name a couple.
    Funk is a groove.
Once you get that bass line and the drums in sync, you can soar.
Funk is R&B's faster paced little brother!
Cory Wong could play in any funk or R&B environment!
    He is that good!
    Funk and R&B!
Music that makes you want to move!
    Cory has the Funk!

My new favorite guitar player!! Rhythm guitar players in general are soooo overlooked and underappreciated as to what they bring to the band. ( Even in rock Malcolm Young, John Lennon, and yes Eddie Van Halen is a tremendous rhythm player who happens to be pretty good at lead too! Lol... ) Watch the Vulpeck Madison Square Garden video and see him in his element. I was blown away by his energy and enthusiasm. You can see traces of it when he starts playing in his seat!

i just wanna say this style of motoric up and down motion with the right can also be represented easily in rock and blues music. Look up Wilco Johnson and his band Dr Feelgood. You'll notice, much like Cory, he plays with his thumb over the top, and the constant motion of his right hand allows him to play both rhythm and lead simultaneously. Folk musicians do this a lot too (Guy Van Duser's Stars and Stripes Forever is a great example of this, where he plays both parts on one six-string guitar simultaneously)
