What I love most about this amv and how it differs from other Ashfur ones, is that it focuses on his daily life as Squirrel and Bramble become a couple. Imagine having to wake up each day and going to sleep with the person you love raising their family right in front of you. He was chosen as mentor to Lionpaw, which probably fueled his bitterness and anger even more. What he did was wrong, and he was at fault for letting his unrequited love drive him insane instead of moving on... but this amv showed how depressing it is to see your desirable happy life be given to someone else...without you in it. I can relate to this Ashfur, watching the world keep going while you're stuck in the past. Watching everyone so happy and full while you watch, empty and feeling put out. What made it worse was how, due to the closeness of the camp and the warrior's den, Squirrel and Bramble's happy life just struck him in the face over and over again. Only he knew how depressing and cold the feeling of watching what you want to have, happen to someone else right in your face. It's one of the worst feelings ever, everything in reach but you just missed it. And in the end, it was his ambition for this happy life and bitterness at being denied it, that ultimately killed him.
I'm going to be real with you, I don't give two shits about any discourse. This animation was absolutely inspiring and top tier back in the day, and every once in a while, I just want to come back in relish in the carefree edginess of my youth.
This was pretty impressive for the time this came out in.. Seriously. How old was the person when they made this, I love the animation and the editing a bit, the smoothness, the detail. A lot of things are impressive in this video, no wonder I still wanna do art and animation today! Even though somethings are amazing.. Some are a little bit odd, which I cant figure to type here.. But either way, an amazing piece of Warrior Cats RUclips videos made by people by themselves. To be honest.. This has to be one of my favorite, again like I said before, smooth and detailed animation and editing. I really hope this person is doing art to this day, they really do have some skill.

I don't justify anything ashfur did, but I still love his character. I'm not going to call him a "poor misunderstood baby" but in some ways someone could potentially understand the way he felt. He was, in fact, obsessed with her- and I love how his character portrayed the downward spiral and negative outbursts someone can go to just because they can't have someone they want so bad. I don't think Ashfur really meant to hurt squirrel like he did at first, but the whole process of keeping everything in just plain out drove him mad. This is why I like his character, I just wish he could have understood what he had done much better than the way he handled it.

Exactly! I don't agree with his actions, but I still love him. The yandere type gets quite a bit of love for some reason, but Ashfur, who became one unintentionally, gets ALL THE HATE.

as much as i hate Ashfur i have a little pet peeve when people said he wanted her back. No, he didn't want her back. He was more like; once rejected- that's the end of everything we had, you may go, but watch for your back. He wanted her to suffer, not because he loved her so much, but because he hated her. This isn't driven by jealousy that much either, it was rather driven by heartbreak and hatred on her, making him had the guts to kill anyone he'd feel like to.
Love and hate are just two extremes of the same emotion. He hated her BECAUSE he loved her and she didn't feel the same.

Aug 25 2022, still the masterpiece I saw in high-school 2011, graduation year. This is the one and only video that made me get into my first "fandom" and to get into warrior cats. "Who is this guy and what the heck happened to this poor boy?"
It blows me away that after all these years this animation still holds up really well. Just, nice staging, good art, and decent camera movement. So good.
This is so good compared to most 2010 era warriors animations! It's very smooth, not pixelated, and the characters don't look like damn emos!

Thank you so much for reuploading this! Out of all the Warriors AMVs I've ever seen, this is the one that I have always come back to and always adored since the first time I saw it. It's just so...perfect. The composition and pacing is great, the animation is smooth, and the character designs are really expressive and memorable. It's like the ultimate adaptation of Ashfur's story.

This is currently my favorite animation for the whole warriors stuff on RUclips, this stuff is just superb and it really does tell the story and relay ashfurs emotions a LOT better then the books do. I think ashfur was a fantastic character who just simply lost his mind, it is indeed a sad story.

i personally love Ashfur (i know, unpopular opinion xD) and think that if he hadn't overreacted so badly, he would have been a great cat. I sort of wish he had survived long enough to tell everyone at the gathering about Leafpool and Crowfeather, and see what happened after that. However, that WOULD mean Hollyleaf wouldn't have gone into the tunnels, therefore shining less light on her character, and she IS one of my favorite cats x3
Late reply, but he could have. He could have gotten another mate and gone down another path, but he chose to drown himself in self pity and a desire for revenge. He chose to keep a grudge instead of getting over his rejection. That's why he's not a good cat.

Well, as much as Ashfur deserved it, if Squirrelflight saw him during the battle in The Last Hope, she'd feel even worse about the situation. StarClan probably took into account how Squirrelflight would be affected by Ashfur in the Dark Forest.
Ashfur had reason, thistleclaw was simply malicious.
Thistleclaw was driven by the fact Bluefur basically caused Snowfur's death, because Bluefur thought, "Hmm...I like Oakheart and he's from RiverClan, so it's fab! But Snowfur is in love with a *ThunderClan tom*! How could she?"
Thistleclaw's son was taken from him.
SO HE OBVIOUSLY HAS NO FUCKING REASON. AND HE TOTALLY TRIED TO KILL CATS.

Sooooo......... Ashfur was killed by Hollyleaf to keep the secret that Squirrelflight wasn't their real mother but Leafpool was safe. Hollyleaf did this but then at a Gathering yelled out the secret. This makes me think: How about being killed for no reason gets replaced with living up to your name? So Ashfur could've lived up to his name and burned in the fire from the big storm, maybe??? I don't know, I think this was just a dumb decision for Hollyleaf. She may as well have let him blurt it out instead.

Squirrelflight chose Brambleclaw but if she had went with Ashfur it would've hidden the kit's truth better. Ashfur is gray and Squirrelflight is ginger, therefore with Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight the only convincing one was Lionblaze. Hollyleaf was black and Jayfeather was a gray tabby, it would've been better. I see why they made everything happen the way they did now I guess, but eh.

Can i ask why you love Ashfur so much? Not trying to be rude or anything i've personally know a lot of people just like him that were amazing people but not anyone i would just hate another person for. So why Ashfur?
Personally i just like the whole character arc. He was a decorated member of the clan, taking the glory for killing scourge's apprentice bone. His mother was murdered in cold blood by Tigerstar and he was left by the person he loved. I personally think he snapped when his mother was killed and was just going further and further down the rabbit hole until the squirrelflight incident just drove him off the edge. I think he was still good somewhere inside, and i don't think he would've revealed the secret. But alas we never got to see that far in.
He reminded me of Captain Hammer, except, Captain Hamer is actually cool.
