Its is astonishing how that little boiler heats a wide beam canal boat - it looked dam cold to be working.

Thanks for sharing your hints and tips to keep our boats going. I was wondering if you have done one for the most effective ways to wire in batteries

Thanks for positive comment. I haven't, but have mentioned that a few times. Very often you can't do exactly what you want, unless its a brand new blank canvas. (I have busbars on mine, that's on Narrowboat Moonshine channel) I have a pragmatic view, keep all links the same length and balance the loads and charging best I can. Otherwise I would be doing full rewires on every boat I go on.

@@narrowboatelectrician I saw that and it made me wonder how you connected your loads to and from the busbar as it looks so neat and tidy

I drill M8 holes in Busbar between batteries, that allows me to balance the battery bank best I can.

My webasto 5.5kw hot water system went kaput in my window cleaning van just after 18 months of use from brand new. Made quite a bit of noise then a bang with a big puff of smoke coming out the heater exhaust. Any idea what it could be? Coollant levels have always been good. Powered by 115amp leisure battery. Really want to get it fixed 😢

Its pretty difficult to diagnose without being there in person. Unusual to see a lot of smoke coming from exhaust unless there is lots of unburnt fuel in there. Which can happen if the glow plug failed so combustion never occurs. You'll really diagnostics plugged in to see whats going on.
