  • If you are like me, grafting seems like some superpower that only the masters can summon. But with some practice, I have learned that is it fairly easy and the changes you can make to a tree are truly incredible. I love this tree's structure, but don't like the foliage type, and it is growing too far out from the trunk. I did some grafting on this 3 years ago, but only had one take, I'm now going to re-graft with the same foliage through out the tree. I only need 2-3 to take, so I have did 10 graphs to improve my chances. This is a great technique, it not only let's you decide what kind of foliage to have, but also gives you the ability to branches to key places. I highly recommend learning how to do this if you don't already know.

I have never seen that grafting tape before it looks really nice to work with, but probably with loads of practice. Thanks for sharing!

@@bonsaitimelapse Thanks! Do you know if this will work on Maples?

Nope, don't try on maples, you want to do thread or approach graphs, which are really easy and very reliable. I don't have any videos yet of these methods yet, but there are a few examples on RUclips of them.
