      I've had drill bits that size and speed slip, they don't really penetrate your skin given they're meant for hard surfaces. Just scratch

    Fun fact: all that stem whipping was on purpose because the plant needs to clear out other plants blocking the light so they clear them by using their hands to push them

      Yeah I watch this giant lotus growing. Made a spike ball attached to a Vine first and d just went to work moving everything out of its way. The Giant lotus I think it was. Pretty cool when I saw it the first time. Then I dove into that rabbit hole and found out trees communicate with the seeds they drop through mycelia or fungus roots and the tree roots. Some species can even alter where their seeds drop.

      It's not hard to maintain it. Lotus is a adaptable plant to grow.
      But it need a very big space for growing. Also if you grow lotus from seed, it will take 1 or 2 year for the first flower. From seed, it will grow as a baby plant. From root, it will grow like a mature plant rejuverating.

      @@raniaahmed8275 I think if you buy a tuber it will be easy to grow and maintain. Because my brother bought a tuber and had bloom after 4 months. The leaves are big too. If you grown from seed the leaves are small and stalk soft, the roots are hairy and very small.

    Не обязательно травмировать семя лотоса ❤ После погружения в воду скорлупа становится мягкой и росток легко пробивается ❤ Думаю, что ни одно семя не будет создавать для себя приграду. Наоборот, в сухом виде скорлупа твёрдая для защиты ядра, но как только попадает в благоприятные условия ❤ , то защита уже не нужна, потому что появилось, то что нужно для жизни ❤ Попробуйте вырастить лотос без насилия ❤ Удачи ❤❤❤
    По глупости раньше, тоже ковыряла отверстия из-за отсутствия опыта.

      Будут из-за особенностей распространения. Самый яркий пример - авокадо, но оно в целом пришло к нам из эпохи динозавров и не в счёт...
      Из чего-то менее радикального, многие виды ягод имеют плотную оболочку семени, которая разрушается только в пищеварительном тракте птиц. Как своеобразная защита от выбрасывания всех семян прямо под себя, чтобы вместо этого они прорастали, только пролетя километры внутри птицы.
      Хотя с лотосом случай другой, тут конечно не поспоришь

      Элементарно чуть-чуть потереть тот конец, где не "носик", а вмятинка о что-то абразивное. Вода через несколько часов размягчает оболочку в этом месте, и её можно немного снять. Дальше без проблем прорастает

    YOU CAN SOAK the lotus seed into water in bowl (under direct sunlight), change water 3 times daily.. when it soft , U just use little knife to trim away the seed corner head..

      I just use the doggy dremel to get past the shell (not lotus but other very hard and thick seeds). It's not as bad as a drill and doesn't take an eternity like sandpaper. Although my dog gets mad at me because the dremel is out but she's getting no treats.

      @@Convolutedtubules typo, I meant "dremel is out but she's getting no treats" for the last 2 years she's gotten treats for being calm when I dremel her nails so "dremel = treats." She was mad because I had the dremel in my hand and it was powered on but she was getting no treats. She usually gets one just for remaining calm when I power it on (the sudden noise can be very scary to dogs) so she was like "Where's my treat? I'm sitting right here so give me my treat!"

    Superfood Tip :- In India, we cook these.seeds by heating them on an empty vessel over fire, then hit them hard with a small wooden plank which breaks open the seed shells popping out the whitish colored cooked seed inners (somewhat round in shape) and the surface is smooth matte finished. This seed is rich in many nutrients. We make dry salted snacks or in sweer porridge form.

      Bacteria are naturally present in fresh still bodies of water. It looks like algae started growing at the end as well. What you're referring to is called "biofilm" which is, quite literally, a film of living things like bacteria that have just colonized the surface

      Nope, outer shell is for protecting the seed inside, so you can break it to let water easily get in the seed. But carefully when drilling, try to not damage the seed/core inside.

    Drilling is called mechanical scarification process as lotus basically is latent type of a seed category. It has got an impermeable seed coat that keeps the embryo secured.

    What did you add to the water that made the plant grow so quickly? Generally a lotus flower does not grow so quickly.
