- This time-lapse takes on how a lotus/nelumbo nucifera seed sprouting, rooting, and growing into plants. A small hole was scored on the chosen lotus seed to help with boosting germination. It was then put in a glass filled with water. Two days later, it started hatching into a seedling and surfacing over the water level. At the 10th day, we moved the seedling into a bigger glass container filled with mud and water. It then developed roots and the first batch of leaves/pads. After that, the lotus plant kept developing tubers and more pads.
We wish we could keep it on the camera longer; However, with algae invasion due to overexposure of light, heat, and moisture, we had to transplant it to our pond.
how did you prevent bacterial growth? I've tried twice with over 30 seeds, and they all succumb to bacteria/rotting. I changed the water but never got beyond a few leaves on maybe 6 of plants.
Same //
@@Kafka-b7u I started some more outside this time. Kept them in larger containers, and changed the water when necessary. I think the airflow from outside is better than starting inside. Put about 15 of them in my goldfish pond and they're doing well.
wow i loved watching this. i just bought some seeds in the uk. and hope they will grow in my pond.
Beautiful!
Spectacular!
मैंने भी लगाया है और फिश भी डाली है उसमें ❤❤
what is at the bottom of this glass bowl? I am trying to grow lotus to be green like this, mine do well with rooting but I have them in soil and water, and they are not growing as large as they should. Also, they are in a bowl inside of another bowl, surrounded baby water.
It was mud that we took out from a pond near by. You could use garden soil instead; however, it should be soaked in water a week before planting. Adding aquatic plant food may help them growing faster.
@@eLapseTime thank you!

And the flower?
Typically, they won't bloom in the first year of growing from a seed.
@@eLapseTime Thank you for answering me! Your videos are so suggestive!🌺
@@eLapseTime Awe, bummer.
